Data Kidnapping

Commentaires : Holds data effectively hostage and constantly increases subscription cost.

Avantages :

not much. Scans paper and uploads it to the cloud.

Inconvénients :

There is no functionality to export data other than to export the whole database making it virtually impossible to switch to another system if one has a lot of data.

Neat

Commentaires : Overall, it's a great product. I have not been using long, but I am more organized than I was before I started using Neat.

Avantages :

I just started using Neat, and I am loving it. It organizes everything, and makes it easy for me to send my information to other software without having to reenter the information. Time saving!

Inconvénients :

Getting started, for me, was a bit frustrating. I even had a remote access call, and needed more assistance. Of course, I could be a slow learner.

Super helpful

easy & good for home use

The neat scanner & program is easy to use. We used this program to scan all our documents into digital files. Inexpensive.

Inconvénients :

The Neat Scanner did have some gliches with shutting down. Customer service was not the most greatest! Very difficult to get speak to someone about issues.

Works well, but you cannot change the user

Avantages :

It is great quality, makes the pdf's searchable and great to have it cloud based. Easy to organize and save documents based on what it scans.

Inconvénients :

The desktop to website is slow and clunky. Also we messed up one letter on the email, stuck with it now, cant change it according to support.

Have the all in one scanner- Good machine

Avantages :

Have the all-in-one scanner and it works great. Setup was a little tricky with the program I bought it to use with.

Inconvénients :

A little temperamental. Sometimes I have to reset the machine or the computer to get it to work again.

Would love to customize

Avantages :

mildly easy to use - the new app taking the photo is slower than i would like - would prefer to click the photo as opposed to it taking it.

Inconvénients :

I wish i could edit the categories - if there is a typo it automatically saves it. I would like to be able to edit the expense categories.

So glad I bought the bigger scanner.

Commentaires : Neat is a very important software for my photo studio. I can discard virtually all of my receipts now - the IRS recognizes Neat records as sufficient. I can easily find and review previous orders for comparison or reference. Although most supplier websites are getting very good about providing access to previous orders, etc., I still use Neat regularly rather than opening the web browser and finding the supplier.

Avantages :

Neat allows me to easily scan all of my receipts and offers sorting options. The product also lets me scan customers' hand printed order forms allowing me to return the forms with the photos or discard - but I still have all of the important contact information

Inconvénients :

My biggest complaint is speed when loading and searching. Also, the home page could be better organized or even customizable.

Difficult company to deal with

Commentaires : Loss of data. Customer support was extremely slow and we were required to deal with customer support in the Phillippines that proved to be unhelpful. Eventually, the support team gave up on the problems and we were obliged to revert back to dealing with the corporate management. The data was lost and was never recovered.

Avantages :

On the surface, the software provided most of the functions needed to run a small business. The software and hardware were relatively easy to set up.

Inconvénients :

The company made massive changes to their software in the past that resulted in partial and sometimes complete yearly data.

Neat Small Business Solutions

Avantages :

Neat is an amazing product, our business is growing rapidly and Neat has helped us with filing our receipts and documents with ease.

Inconvénients :

Neat's app on the iPhone is very slow and sometimes freezes or quits on me when I am right in the middle of something. If I could change one thing it would be the app.

I use it to track all my expenses for my business

Avantages :

I love how I can directly scan my receipts into Quicken Home and Business. I love that it is so easy to use and that I can choose a plan that fits my needs/budget

Inconvénients :

No real cons. Neat has really thought this software through. I loved it more when it was free, but I do understand why fees were added to their service. I still love it!

Neat Receipts for road travelers

Commentaires : I can't say enough good things about NeatReceipts...I use it daily to keep organized.

Avantages :

We travel fulltime, and must retains all expense receipts. We are able to scan every receipt for tax purposes, create a tax report as soon as W-2 is available, and have taxes prepared in record time! No longer have to save files and boxes of receipts or important papers. Everything is scanned and available for ready access when needed by file folder or even just a key word search. Great for when proof of purchase date or amount is needed. Photos are scanned, saved, & protected forever; even artwork by grandchildren! Faxes received through the computer are easy to view and save without ever having to print, thus no need to use paper...they can even be forwarded by email. I also use the document feature for my drawings that needs to be emailed to people for immediate viewing, and am able to create PDF images in seconds.When a copier is not readily available, I just scan a document so it can printed out later. I could go on and on....this is my very favorite tool (after my iPhone).

Inconvénients :

I'd like the business card scanner to be compatible with Outlook's contacts. If it's available now, I don't how to use that feature.

Needs better and more timely support as software updates are made

Commentaires : I have a small four person consulting firm. We have been using Neat for almost five years and find it to be more helpful that copying receipts and hand inputing the expenses to a spreadsheet, but still it is cumbersome and inaccurate to require lots of manual corrects to the amounts and the vendors. None the less we have continued to use it because we are unaware of a better system for a small firm like ours, though we are looking hard now for a replacement.
The reason we are interested in changing is that as software updates to our PC and Mac operating systems are made, Neat lags behind in updating their software that it functions properly. With the El Capitan upgrade for Mac, the Neat software crashes at the scanning of each receipt. Very frustrating and non productive. This condition has happened before as upgrades are made. Neat should be proactive and work with Microsoft and Apple so that as the upgrades become available their software work seamlessly, but to date we haven't seen this.
We have used the Neat mobile scanner, but find that after time it ceases to become functional. It is also very slow. We use ScanSnap scanners and fine them effective and fast when Neat is up and running properly.
As of today, our Neat software is unusable due to continued crash issues. We would appreciate it if Neat would fix this issue quickly and make an update available. If it is not fixed quickly we will abandon the software and move to a different product.

Limited File Size Capabilities

Commentaires : Overall I would say using the NEAT software was a frustrating experience. I would scan and upload a simple document and it would would be over 25 mb. The software didn't allow you to control the resolution of the scan. I gave up on this software after 2 years and moved on to something more user friendly.

Avantages :

The thing I liked most about this software is that it saved directly as a PDF so I could easily attach what I scanned into my files.

Inconvénients :

The thing I liked least about this software was the fact that the file sizes were so large when it saved that I couldn't upload them into any other applications. Apparently NEAT has come out with updates recently but I gave up and tried a new software.

NEAT helps keep paperwork neat

Commentaires : The Neat scanner has saved me a lot of time and headaches when preparing for taxes. It helps me stay more organized. It's actually kind of fun to scan receipts.

Avantages :

I have the receipt scanner which has been a lifesaver in organizing receipts for tax purposes. Once I figured out the online storage aspect it allowed me to access my data on multiple devices.

Inconvénients :

Sometimes the software will close out for no reason. I usually start it back up and everything is there. Syncing to the "cloud" sometimes takes a long time. I don't know if the scanner I have is still available or what has changed in the 5 or 6 yrs I've had it.

Commentaires : Scanning receipts and keeping track of where your budget is being spent is very important to any business.
Having the Neat software has made my accounting less stressful. So I can focus on being the better at my profession.

As the name says, "Neat" is just that.

Avantages :

I bought a Neat scanner on a black Friday sale and figured I would give it a try. After setting it up, it became addicting as I scanned in receipts for our small business. It really does a great job organizing and storing receipts on your computer as well as the cloud. It even goes as far as categorizing scans based on type making it easier to access if needed as well as transfer data to QuickBooks.

Inconvénients :

As with any scanner, sometimes numbers are misread for various reasons. I would highly suggest proof reading scans for errors if using for accounting purposes.

Avantages :

The fact I no longer have it. It offers an opportunity for someone to buy it and start over with the idea and do it right. Not for Mac users. See next.

Inconvénients :

It does not work on my MacBook Pro with High Sierra 10.13.4. It stays hopelessly behind despite 1 year between upgrades. The support people speak nicely to you, but get ready for many fails and long wait times. Over 2 days they could not get it to work. The idea is a good one. Perhaps someone will either buy this company, fire all the developers, or do their own similar program. Personally I consider it the worst purchase I ever made.

I think Neat is overrated.

I think the software is way too expensive, and the text recognition is hit and miss enough that you still need to go through and verify that things have been converted correctly.
