Best Road Design Software

5,0 il y a 4 ans

Commentaires : Softree has some of the same support team and programmers from when I started working with this product for about 25 years now. I've seen this product evolve so much and through it all they have maintained a consistent support network of people and quality product. The technical support with Softree is unbeatable, anytime you have a question or an issue they are quick to help you and guide you through to a solution. Softree has amazingly friendly and knowledgeable staff ready to help you for sales OR technical support and I'm great full for that.

Avantages :

I've been using Roadeng for 25 years. My primary use is for Road designs and general construction designs of surfaces. Roadeng is a very user friendly platform and provides me with the ability to generate quality designs very quickly and produce a stakeout file for construction grade staking. The team at Roadeng adapts the software to new industry standards and practices and continually makes changes for better work flows and features.

Inconvénients :

The terrain tool is slow at times to render large point files such as high density point clouds. There is an option to reduce the points imported which helps this process. Could use a layers control centre to more easily turn layers off/on.

We appreciate your response and review, and we completely agree, there is ALWAYS an opportunity to handle more points and speed up the software. We look forward to sharing more improvements in this area with our next release.

Roadeng

5,0 il y a 2 ans

Commentaires : We build 35km of new road every year. These roads need to support 50t trucks. The country we operate in is very erodible and steep (often over 60% side slope). Building a road that doesn't work would be a very expensive mistake for us to make, both environmentally and financially. With Roadeng a relatively small team is able to do a lot of basic design work to identify the critical and/or expensive sections of earthworks. We can then focus our attentions on these sections, testing different options before doing detailed designs and finally presenting the designs to the operators in an easy to use and interpret package.

Avantages :

Very well supported by a responsive, competent, friendly and helpful team. Considering how powerful the program is it’s very to learn and to teach. It can provide a very high level of detail when you need it, or you can quickly rough out a design to test an idea. It lets you choose how much time you want to spend and how much detail you want to include.

Inconvénients :

I can’t really think of anything that’s more than a passing niggle.

Improved Road Design with associated cost reductions

5,0 il y a 4 ans

Avantages :

I can determine if a target road standard can be met with a small desktop investment. I can then utilize the program to drive to the best possible design in terms of grades and visibility while managing project costs. Support is first rate whenever I have questions or trouble.

Inconvénients :

Individuals making use of the program will have to have invested in learning the program and making use of all of its utility and have practical road construction understanding to apply the correct parameters to the solution.

RoadEng, An Excellent Product

5,0 il y a 4 ans

Commentaires : I am using RoadEng to design forest road relocations so that they are removed from sensitive areas. Also I use it to develop cost estimates for contracting purposes which has been very helpful.

Avantages :

The ability to use LiDAR to analyze vertical and horizontal alignment options saves so much field time. Installing curves is a breeze, as well as designing for balanced, cost-effective earthwork. I really enjoy the 3D Drive Through/Fly By tool which allows you to simulate driving your finished road. The customer service is extremely responsive, personable, and helpful.

Inconvénients :

I think it might be worth evaluating how the "assign by range" feature works so that it does not assign road features by station. As you make changes to the alignment, the stations change and you have to remember to update the "assign by ranges" you entered. Maybe there's a way around this and I just haven't learned it yet though!

Thank you kindly for your review. Regarding your feedback around 'assign by range': Assign by range uses an algorithm to keep assignments in roughly the same place even when the road stationing changes. For example if you change the start station or modify the horizontal alignment, assigned ranges up-station from the change should look exactly as they were before (but with different station numbers). We have on our development list to implement the concept of assign by polygon, where the polygon is independent of the design. This is an obvious fit for materials in the ground and no-go property boundaries. It should also work for all the other assign by range options if we implement it well. We will keep you informed when this new, and exciting feature is available.
