Simple and Effective

Commentaires : We installed this a month ago and it has handled all of our backups fine, the email alerts for failures are informative and the server program seems to be very stable.

Avantages :

The server can be set up on any platform and agents can be created and downloaded from the web interface. The ability to have failure email notifications is a very nice feature when you have to ensure your data is backed up.

Inconvénients :

The user interface is kind of bland and not being able to backup a network drive is a downside.

This really a great solution for backing up images (& files) of client computers on our network.

Commentaires : Security & ease of knowing that I can fully restore a client computer within about an hour or two, once there is an issue. The price is nice too!

Avantages :

I love this software because it is so easy to use. We use server imaging through one process, file backups through another process (scripts & cloud storage), and UrBackup for client computer image backups that can be restored within an hour or two. Of all my backup strategies, this one has been the most saving as I can usually just pop in another drive on the downed computer, boot off a cd or dvd, connect to the server, then restore the computer from the last nightly backup - and it's free! There are also a lot of options for this application that are constantly being updated and added to by the developer, and it has lots of storage varieties that can be implemented. I have tried a few different ways of installing this application (OS's), but for us the Windows servers seem to fit our needs best. Also, we are able to maintain Full & Incremental image backups on our schedule where it doesn't really interfere with our day-to-day work.

Inconvénients :

I can't really think of any cons, especially since it's free to use. If I had one suggestion, it would be to lay out more ideas on fine-tuning the procedures for the backup schemes. Upon starting, it can take quite a while to get all the initial images going and can chew up a lot of resources, but when that's done it works really nicely.

Very good backup software

Commentaires : I've been using it to provide clients with reliable backups for a couple of years with out problems.
Some clients have on site servers others (most) internet stored servers.
Once it's setup it has gone for years without a problem.
The feature to keep the server form filling up the disk space is very good, compression makes backups fast and small (which allows frequent copies), and the windows client works very well to copy databases.

Avantages :

It works! just that, once it's configured it just works. Ideal for files or full system backup across OS. The file restoration works great and the versioning is very good

Inconvénients :

setting up the server can be daunting (specially to a cloud stored server), it's not he easiest to do, but once that you're used to it, is quite simple and fast.

UrBackup - Because it does what you really want it to!

Commentaires : I've used other backup services in the past. They were slow, clunky, and I had little faith in what I was getting. UrBackup changes all of that. I can see exactly what I'm looking for. The environment is simple. It is easy to get access to what you need. It works on both servers, and on desktops. Cross platform. It can access my MS Sql Servers, and it can also grab stuff from my linux boxes. It has images, file backups, and PXE boot. All the features I want. It gives me piece of mind. Originally I got for just covering some select servers that I wanted some simplified backup for, but I anticipate expanding the deployment.

Avantages :

UrBackup was just what I was looking for. I needed a backup solution that could regularly sync, do file diffs for storage, access my SQL databases, some emergency recovery options, and more! It is fast, has a nice dashboard, and is crossplatform. The clients are configurable so I know what it is getting, and what it isn't.

Inconvénients :

UrBackup only allows a single drive as the destination for backup. I find this a very silly limitation for an otherwise nearly perfect solution.

Great, free backup software

Avantages :

The ability to back up all our client computers on a set schedule, while performing all administrative tasks from the server. Compare that with other free backup offerings where configuration needs to be done on each client individually.

Inconvénients :

Can be difficult figuring out all the options at first, documentation isn't great.
