Avantages :

Salon iris is good for basic tasks a hair salon requires to manage appointments. It is relatively user friendly.

Inconvénients :

I should have waited to use Salon Iris until they had implemented them. My disappointment is due to my frustrations.

Comprehensive Platform foe your spa/salon business

Avantages :

I love that it has a booking calendar for appointments, client management, and POS all in one! Super straight forward for inventory, scheduling, adding employees and clients to the system.

Inconvénients :

There are a few areas that could be more user friendly. Overriding and customizing things like packages and gift certificates is a little messy.

Commentaires : Overall happy with software, would just like to see more capabilities after 8 years with company that fit the needs of day Spa business. We had trialed Meevo during and they had some great features, overall our experience was terrible with them, but some cool features they had were front desk profit focused. As example, pop ups for services notes about service to ask client when booking, service suggestion for similar services when booking one to suggest others. Product recommendation based on past purchases.

Avantages :

VIP support moreso when we were desktop version and dealing with [SENSITIVE CONTENT] was amazing! Many thanks to her! The working and self diagnosis of problems is easy with this system.

Inconvénients :

Now being cloud based definitely want to see memberships updated so when a failed payment, you can make the payment and not have to cancel member and restart, have had many issues with that since moving from desktop. Also had to found a work around to let us make membership purchase, to be "until canceled" we have to first click end date then click back to until canceled and then it works. Would like to again see the ability to add a prepaid service on an account like we could in desktop. Would also like to be able to change client name on a ticket as we were able to "change client" on ticket in desktop version. For tickets, it would be helpful to have more edit capability once they are closed, to edit service/professional/payment and change/and do partial refund. For gift cards would like to see ability to auto populate a number. For reporting, sales totals for each employee for a week would love the ability to "copy" a table like desktop version instead of having to download and upload as we utilize Google sheets and not Excel. Online giftcar would love to be able to offer promotions and not have to pay a third party for to offer things like, buy $100 get $25 for free. I've sent quite a few things through to support already to ask for feature requests. One last one off too if my head is for text marketing when making a one time campaign, to send out for last minute opening deal to be able to just send "now" or immediately I stead of having to choose the next hour.

Simple to use out of the box....but

Commentaires : unfortunately customer service falls very short. it is generally 45min-90min wait. or they can call you back at a callback number, and sometimes that has taken 3-5 hours. and as mentioned, they're good for just giving you a tutorial on how to do something, but if something is broken, dont expect it to ever get fixed, or for them to ever give you an update. if they say theyll follow up, they never will.

Avantages :

Inexpensive, with a lot of features, and very simple to use. Also has an app as well, which a lot of times is better than the web application. text message notifications and communications both on the web and on the app are great. client support is good if you just need a tutorial on how to do something.

Inconvénients :

drastic inconsistencies in functionality of the app vs the web client. a lot of times the app has more functionality, which is odd. very limited in reporting. no customizable reports. cannot run a basic report of my clients appointments. cannot run a basic report of who have outstanding prepaid services or packages, so i just have to guess which clients have outstanding treatments and look up their profiles one by one. and they claimed they had no back end way to pull that information either, which i find difficult to imagine. a database must exist for this system to exist, and it would be next to impossible that they cannot query information from that database. so they basically just don't want to. and client support is useless when it comes to an issue. had many of these instances, but the most recent was the final straw, whne my app could not schedule an appointment, add to an appointment, or change an appointment for over 12 months. seems like a pretty major issue. i had to open 6 tickets with them over the course of 12 months, and i never received a single email, phone call, or update in that 12 month period. they said they couldn't recreate the issue so they dropped it. didn't provide any updates to me or even tell me they dropped it or tried to troubleshoot with me. 12 months is a long time for a scheduling app not to be able to schedule an appointment.

Great salon software!

Commentaires : As a salon owner I’ve searched for years for the PERFECT software. While there is no one perfect fit, Salon Iris fits the bill for us the closest! We have as many as 25 stylists a day to keep track of. This software makes it so easy to keep track of appointments and what rooms are needed to use. Appointments can be color coded depending on what service it is. Stylists can easily edit and book appointments from their phones or computers.
Salon Iris offers amazing extras at no cost! Email receipts are so wonderful and convenient. Standing appointments make it easy to book your regulars for up to a year at a time. They also offer appointment reminders which really cuts down on “no shoes” and cancellations. You can search for availability for those walk ins and call ins.
Salon iris is definitely a keeper! We’ve looked at pretty much all of the software out there and this is the BEST I’ve found!

Avantages :

Easy to use with options of drag and drop appointments, can schedule multiple stylists, can book different rooms for different services, email client receipts, appointment reminders.

Inconvénients :

Nothing! It’s been great! I haven’t found anything that I haven’t liked. Been using it for 8 months and am still happy with it.

Commentaires : Overall we have been happy with the software and hope to continue the relationship for a long time.

Avantages :

It is fairly easy to use. It is nice adding promotion codes to apply discounts automatically. Review management is pretty good, still a bit on the fence about it. two-way texting is also very convenient.

Inconvénients :

While there are a lot of reports, there are some limitations to them as well. When checking out, currently tips are not split and need to be manually done. and when doing so, it does not show the original tip amount. For example, if the tip was $22.50, as soon as you start changing it, the original tip amount is gone and the tech needs to remember what it was and do the math to adjust the tips accordingly. Also, tips can not be adjusted after the transaction is complete without voiding the transaction. No support on weekends has been a little challenging, especially early on in our implementation.

Customer service and having a software that has been around a while.

Inconvénients :

This software is very very very dated. Stylist are now require deposits charged before booking a appointment, require you to pay for the entire appointment in some cases and charging for no shows instantly. I have complained and complained yet they continue to add features that they can make money off of instead of catering to our request. It’s my third time returning and was told it was better and found out that wasn’t true. I am very unhappy with salon iris and as soon as I can find something that caters to the new age way of handling my salon then I’m leaving. I have spoke to [SENSITIVE CONTENT] several time month after month and it’s hopeless. Shame

Commentaires : We’ve enjoy the scheduling aspect of this program. However, doing credit card processing through card point has been a nightmare.

Avantages :

I love the ability to schedule guests, and the information I’m able to store for guests. I like that we can save their credit card information, and the ease with texting and confirmations.

Inconvénients :

The credit card processing has been a huge issue from the very beginning, to the point where we’ve considered switching services. I also wish there was a way to click on a guest in the schedule, after the ticket is closed, and see if they have any scheduled appointments. It’s inconvenient to have to go into each guest to check if tHey have scheduled appointments.

We love Salon Iris!

Commentaires : Our experience with Salon Iris has been really great, with expanding to multiple stylists it has been very easy transforming to online booking since we do not have a receptionist.

Avantages :

My team and myself love salon Iris and the features that provides. We most importantly love that it automatically sends out reminders to clients at the time of booking. It also makes it really easy as a owner that I can make appointments from my phone for not just myself that all of my employees.

Inconvénients :

While Salon Iris does have most features we like there are a few features that it is missing. For example, we would like to be able to go in and re-send text messages and see what text messages were sent. We would also like the option that if someone is booking a service with multiple people in the salon we would be able to book that all at one time instead of having to go make the appointment separately with each person. Lastly, when checking out it would be nice to have a way to edit the transaction instead of needing to completely void out the transaction if cash is accidentally hit instead of card.

Inconvénients :

There are a few things that other systems have that they do not. EX: Individual sheets for each client instead of one sheet for entire day. Also when you put in a standing appointment for the year it will not give you an error message if it overlaps with another appointment

Enjoyable Experience

Commentaires : Salon Iris just needs a way to transfer and transition companies that want to switch and not just start up, but they have a 5 gold star product on their hands here.

Avantages :

I loved that this was a totally, completely, 110%, didn't leave anything out, comprehensive plus the kitchen sink software system for running any small business. It covered emails, advertising, websites, payments, scheduling and booking, literally not a stone unturned. This made the process of starting a fledgling company absolute as cohesive and efficient as possible in a rather visually capturing way.

Inconvénients :

We ended up not choosing them to use though because of the comprehensiveness and total coverage because it would have been too difficult to integrate their entire system in with the system/s already being used because some had been purchased already and the clinic was already up some running. If we could have switched all our existing data and moved it in to their new system during its initiation, it would have been chosen hands down.

Avantages :

We depend on this software, however it goes down at least once every month and puts us in a bind or charges clients more than once. It good software with lots of features but expensive for booking and POS. We are stuck for 3 years. No on told us the software is connected to the booking and POS.

Inconvénients :

You have to use the ELLO cash register system with DaySmart. They are owned by the same company. We were not told that. LOVE the register and booking is very functional.

Commentaires : I found the help desk very difficult to deal with. They sell a product worldwide but only provide USA office hours to receive calls. When I sold the business we had to phone them a NUMBER of times to change the owner and credit card details. No matter what we did it defaulted to me. I felt the help desk to be not that helpful.
The software is actually too difficult to use for the majority of salon staff. I think if I would have known how difficult it was to use and if I had found a simpler, more easy to use one I would have chosen that one.

Avantages :

I liked that you could save a lot of data and be able to analyze it later on. Once you get the hang of certain features it was easy to use.. I liked that I could use the app on my phone. This was a useful feature.

Inconvénients :

Even at the end of 3 years I don't think I really got a grasp on the actual capabilities of the software... it is actually not easy to use. A lot of the features that I was able to decipher were not logical. Although highly adaptable, there are some aspects that bizarrely are not. Inventory was a disaster. The system was also slow, in terms of just logging a single transaction took time. I really disliked that I could not use the app out of hours as the system needed to be on and connected to the internet to use. I also didn't like that it was that expensive to use the app. The app often froze and needed restarting, it was not as stable as the salon iris software itself.

Commentaires : - Tech Service interested to push us on staying "STUPID" and spend lots of $$ instead to help us solve the glitch.
- So, after such a long "partnership" we say to Salon Iris "Sayonara Boby" and move on.
To all the users that need software for their work or salon:
- Make a list of what exactly options do you need.
- Google for those options and read other users' reviews.
- Make sure you RUN a test for some time to see the + / - of the software.
- Look at the Privacy and use of that particular software.
- USE Square for your CC needs
I'm not going to make advertising for the software we are using now but definitely is NOT Salon Iris.
In the end, we wish all the best to DayDream Team and "speedy recovery" :)

Cover most of the needed day by day Salon & Spa Operation tasks. 10 years ago was not much tech or alternative available options.

Inconvénients :

Because we use this software 6 days a week for some years now, I have a chance to see what's NOT SO GOOD about it, and here are some of them: - The Software core was design back more than 10 years ago. - Very rigid with no option to add/remove any extensions that you need or not. - UI interface design do not change much over the years. - Very hoggy on computer resources, sometimes was needed lots of work to communicate with other computers or printers in the same network. - Company DaySmart does not lessen to clients need - IT Attitude, I know, What's new? - The credit card run was buggy and costly. - Reports need some work and coffee to come up with some tax documentation. - Recently the final straw. The email extension work on/off creating confusion among our clients.

Seamless booking

Commentaires : I switched to DaySmart from a software system that requires a lot of space on my hard drive. Now we use iPads. So much easier and more effective way to work.

Avantages :

This system is easy to use and I love that we have access to it any time because it is online. Also I live that it doesn’t require space on a desktop to operate.

Inconvénients :

There are a few features I’d love to add. 1. ID like to have multiple colored flags to mark appointments designated to stand for different notes. Ie: 1st time client, wants to come sooner etc 2. I’d like to type in a color and have the system tell me how many clients require that color or at least how many times it has been used. 3. Color usage in inventory automatically generated when formulas are added for clients

Things to consider for an Owner

Commentaires : I honestly have mixed feelings! I love it when it works but there is way to many problems on a regular basis. Along with too many changes.. For a year it was great now the first thing I ask my employees are if we are having problems on the computer.. I'm considering changing to another software because we are just loosing time trying to fix everything. Something more reliable. I know businesses don't like to hear that but I would like to be honest.. I pay a lot for this and It causes me to much stress and I'm worried the customers cant trust us. I hope this helps you and you can resolve these issues.

Avantages :

The features most impactful are point of sale, appointments, reminders through text, and caters to our needs. Along with tech support that speak English. Also the tech support employees are very helpful.

Inconvénients :

The last month has been trying for us! We have had 3 major problems that have taken way to much of my time to try and get the problem fixed! 1) when checking out clients several were being charged twice! absolutely embarrassing to get a phone call back. 2) Too much time to check someone out. Way too long circling. 3) When checking out could not change stylist name and would split transactions between two stylists and close out. Several times!

Using but not thrilled

Commentaires : Trouble with glitches. Called multiple times with no assistance. Fianlly spoke with someone who told me to upgrade my internet speed to resolve issues. I will try that next

Ease of use and cloud for my employees to view their scheduled from home

Inconvénients :

Customer service is very challenging. With any issue I am bounced around between departments. I recently had someone upgrade my account without consent. I have paid 4 months of this upgrade without access to any of the upgrade features. I called and found out the person who upgraded me is no longer with the company, which makes sense, but I had to discover this wrong doing on my own and was completely brushed off by DaySmart.

Must-have cloud solution for salon management

Commentaires : Overall, this application is a must-have if you run a salon or barbershop.

Avantages :

- Cloud implementation means no down time as long as there is an internet connection - Browser front end allows employees to work from from anywhere and use their own equipment, and the salon no longer has to own and maintain a server, just inexpensive laptops - The application is extremely flexible, so it can match how you do business - Reporting is comprehensive and useful

Inconvénients :

- Because the application is flexible, the administrator will have to do some data entry if not converting from an older version of DaySmart (may not apply to all users) - If DaySmart is not integrated as the merchant services provider, there is an extra step when processing payments (minor issue)

Salon Iris pros/cons

Commentaires : It has improved with the new "premium support" but I have certainly had my challenges with the tech team department. Issues with taking the client seriously when they are having an issue and not making them feel like it's their fault. My only other complaint would be the time it takes to either make fixes or to implement suggestions. But I love the monthly rate with unlimited support feature. I love how I can always get the latest version with the monthly rate.

Avantages :

I like the ease of using this program and the multiple reports it has. I like how it can help keep our business organised and like that I can upload digital client consent forms to their profile. My staff love the SI app where they can manage their schedules and book clients in while they are out and about.

Inconvénients :

The payroll program needs to be functional for Canadians and also wanting the online booking system to take credit cards when a client books an appointment, at least for all new clients.

DaySmart Salon is great for Salons

Commentaires : I have use DaySmart before it was a DaySmart. I’ve had the software for 11 1/2 years. I bought the software when it was called Salon Iris and DaySmart brought them out.

Avantages :

What I like most about DaySmart Salon is that you can have the app and schedule an appointment anywhere. You can customize any service and the pricing. You can keep up with the clients services, all their formulas and the dates they get them.

Inconvénients :

The main con that I have about DaySmart is that if the Internet is down at the salon or having a connection issue, you cannot access the software via app!
