En savoir plus sur PatternSmith
PatternSmith et ses plug-ins intégrés vous permettent de développer des modèles parfaits.
Pattern Smith allows the user to tightly control the costs of manufacturing their products and their bottom line. It is versatile and easy to use.
Low level functionality. It is good for cutting premade dxf files but bad at making changes to those files.

The software is amazing the way it makes the machine mark data and make circles on material.
Avantages :
Our company has been using the "PatternSmith" software since 1999 to manufacture aircraft components made from textiles. Its use has improved our productivity 10 fold at least. One operator at our company states, "The software has made my work easy by making the cutting machine so easy to use. It performs so many functions previously performed manually using a measuring scale, marking pen, and scissors. It marks the stitch lines on the fabric used to sew the webbing to the fabric on large and small nets. It also marks small holes on fabric for the laser guided snap installer to aim at and cuts large holes in fabric 3" to 4" in diameter. It can even cut 12 foot long shapes in a very short time. I would recommend it to any company using scissors to repeatedly cut fabric."
Inconvénients :
The software has continuously improved in the last 16 years making the cutting table perform its function even better. The only real concern we have is the vacuum pump is too noisy.
My thoughts? Not sure what u mean.
Commentaires : Overall been a bit frustrated. I wish the software was more geared to apparel or could exchange with outside files.
Avantages :
It’s pretty comprehensive and the fact that you guys continue to update.
Inconvénients :
It’s a closed system. Does not work well with other files. I also wish you guys had a thorough training manual or video tutorials.

Good news George! PatternSmith does have a comprehensive manual, which you can find in your PatternSmith program under: File>Help. There you will find an English or Spanish Help Manual, and a Quickstart guide. You can also access Quickstart training videos on our YouTube channel, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIqX34z0iUE&list=PLLvk0BEBrlfrxxqzFe7P_bJ-f0YHTYxQF So far we have 10 PatternSmith Quickstart videos and we will continue to add new videos to that library as we finish them. Check them out and let us know what you think!
Disappointed the software releases are not coordinated and that functionality issues persist.
Commentaires : Ability to use the cutting table and export as .dxf files.
Avantages :
It is inexpensive overall and performs well with the cutting table we purchased. Very simplistic, however, could be enhanced simply by creating larger dialogue windows (currently looks like Windows 98) to allow for ease of use. Simple things need to be updated to today's standards in software GUI.
Inconvénients :
It is dated and updates are lacking and uncoordinated. Should follow more common tool selections coming from Solidworks or Illustrator or similar programs. Overall, it is a basic program that has a lot of functionality issues that do not seem to get addressed in a timely fashion.

Thanks for your honest feedback, William - and we apologize for the lack of communication of software updates. We are continually working to update our software, and as you may be aware, we have released PatternSmith 8 as our current platform, which addresses many of your issues. You're a user of TailorMade, however, which we're currently working to update to work seamlessly with PS8. Bear with us while we finish that up! If you're interested in seeing PS8 in action, please reach out to support@autometrix.com and we'll demo it. You're also free to download it at any point! http://www.autometrix.com/resources/software/
good experience no major set backs with the software.
Avantages :
clean look not to much "useless" menus. the new ad-ons and tweaks help out making this software more user friendly.
Inconvénients :
the thing i like the least is that if i make some patterns and copy them in another file and want to edit i have to edit everywhere the copy is.. i am used to software that is parametric and i think that this would be a great feature to add to your software.

Thanks for the feedback, Jonathan! Good news - we have software called TailorMade that provides a parametric patterning solution for PatternSmith. We're currently working on writing the newest version of that to work with PatternSmith 8, but it looks like you guys are on version 7 right now anyways. If you'd like to learn more, please reach out to us at support@autometrix.com and we can demo it!
Great
Commentaires : Time saver!!
Avantages :
Clean, easy to read. Overall just used to it and have gotten over the cons by this time. The cons are really what are separating the pros at this moment.
Inconvénients :
I wish I would be able to create a way where I dont have to always draw out the new patterns that are similar to other ones.

Hi Shane - thanks for your thoughts. I've got (potentially) good news for you on the repetitive pattern drafting front! We have a product called TailorMade that's been extremely popular with many of our customers, especially Spa Cover manufacturers. We're currently rewriting it for our newest platform to make it even better, but I think you'd be interested in at least seeing a demo! Please reach out to us a support@autometrix.com and ask about TailorMade...
I am to the point of drawing everything in autocad and importing it.
Commentaires : Not much. It drives the cutting table so we have to use it. We would never choose to use it.
Avantages :
It drives my CBC cutting table, and the company that installed the table helped immensely with training on the software during installation.
Inconvénients :
Lack of shortcuts. Lack of a command line. Too much reliance on button toolbars in general. No common line cutting, and additional charges for nesting functionality.

Hi Michael - thanks for your candid feedback. We're certainly sorry to hear about your frustrations with PatternSmith. I'd recommend you look into upgrading to our newest platform, PatternSmith 8. You're company is eligible for an upgrade at any time. While our goal isn't to take the same approach as AutoCAD (so you won't find a command line, for example), we have made sure shortcuts are in place, have added common line cutting, etc. We have also added another lower cost automatic nesting option you might be interested in. Reach out to us at support@autometrix.com and we'll work with you to see if we can help Richey have a better experience with PatternSmith!
Customer support has been fantastic. I often get quick answers to the problems I face.
Commentaires : I am able to get daily desired information about patterns to our manufacturers and some customers. The basic information I need is very easy to acquire.
Avantages :
Pretty easy to get used to. I was able to self teach myself half of the functions of the software. I use it on a daily basis and can easily get the information I need without much effort.
Inconvénients :
Not as many options as other software. I use a Lectra Software which has a lot more flexibility and can use a wider range of pattern files, and is much more compatible with the companies we work with.

Hi Adam - thanks for the feedback! Our goal is to provide the best software we can to meet your needs. Your company maintains a current service contract, so you're eligible for all upgrades to PatternSmith. We recommend upgrading to PatternSmith 8.2 (http://www.autometrix.com/resources/software/), as you'll gain some great tools for optimizing imported patterns for cutting. Don't hesitate to reach out to us at support@autometrix.com if you'd like some training on the new features!
Where can I send suggestions?
Commentaires : great program
Avantages :
Range of capabilities - seems program can do just about everything we need....
Inconvénients :
Email me for suggestions if you really want to know - i need to tell you what version we're running, too - and i can send you videos of the many little things i run into

Hello Jerit, thank-you for the positive feedback on PatternSmith! We work hard to provide pattern design software with broad appeal across many industries, and I'm glad you like working with it. We are always interested in our customer's feedback and suggestions. Please email them to: software@autometrix.com If you are not already using PatternSmith 9, you can download it from our website to try it out. Perhaps something you wish to suggest has already been implemented?
PatternSmith Review
Commentaires : I was surprised and very pleased in how quickly and easily the company was able to make the change to a cad based design system. The savings paid for the software and cutting tables quickly and repeatedly over the years. I could not imagine attempting to operate a business without it.
Avantages :
Ease in which hemming dimensions could be added to a designed pattern, along with the ability to print instructions to the fabricator within the hemming space.
Inconvénients :
An inexperienced designer could shut down the program unexpectedly with multiple quick clicks on select menu items in the early versions. Data would be lost up to the last time the file was saved. We started using the program in the late 1990’s
I have had very few problems with this product.
Commentaires : Has taken our product to new levels.
Avantages :
PatternSmith software does all the work for you. All you really have to do is learn what the tools are and what they do. I use it to figure out all kinds of lengths, angles and designs for work and personal projects.
Inconvénients :
It would be nice if the plotter would mark away from the center of the table. Sometimes the pen catches the edge and lifts the material causing a loss in suction and sometimes breaking the pen. It can also cause the machine to lose alignment.

Thanks for the feedback, Perri! I just added your idea about different sorting to avoid lifting material edges to a list so we can discuss it with developers!
easy to use but lots of bugs
Avantages :
This software is very user friendly and easy to use. If your job is to draw and create 2D drawings it works awesome.
Inconvénients :
Sometimes the program gets temperamental and will shut down and close randomly as well as leaving some of the features and tools not working until your computer is rebooted. Very frustrating if you have been working on a design for an hour and it decides to shut down on you.

Hi Kyle - thanks for the feedback. We've got good news! A much requested "Auto-Save" feature (along with increased stability) is in our PatternSmith 8 platform. Your company can upgrade whenever it wants to PS8 - so head on over to http://www.autometrix.com/resources/software/ and download PS8.2. You guys are also TailorMade users - we're currently working on updating that software to work seamlessly with PS8, so bear with us as we finish up that work. Reach out to us at support@autometrix.com for any help in the transition!
PatternSmith Review
Avantages :
Completed pat files are easy to implement to cutting table. Nesting feature is great.
Inconvénients :
We are using AutoCad as the editing software as this allow better editing options and overall controllability of the patterns. Patternsmith is primarily used as a medium to operate the cutting table. There is also an issue with printing letters on the patterns. Patternsmith loses to origin of the words during the dxf to pat conversion. Manual placement through Patternsmith is not accurate. Unable to fully utilize Patternsmith unless its connected to the cutting table. Because of this, its options are never used.
PatternSmith
Avantages :
I like that this software is easy to use. You don't need to know a lot about computers or software to effectively use it. - At least for us. I suppose we don't use all of it's capabilities, but the functions we do use are easy to grasp and easy to teach.
Inconvénients :
This software has locked up before, during production hours, negatively impacting productivity for that day. It is easy to fix, but it cost the time it took to get a key.
It has been a very positive experience
Avantages :
There are a few things I like about this software, It is very user friendly for the most part and the support is amazing
Inconvénients :
I would think the only thing that I'm not happy with is the lack of ease of ability to convert all of the pattern pieces with only one adjustment

Hi Cheryl - thanks for the feedback. If I understand your "wish" correctly, you might be interested in TailorMade. Firetech owns a license of it, so please reach out if you'd like a demo or any further training in using it!
Been a user for over 10 years and have found the software very easy to use and quite helpful.
Commentaires : Workflow optimization.
Avantages :
The software is pretty easy to pick up and learn to use. It is powerful enough to allow us to design all of our products in and light enough to allow a very quick workflow.
Inconvénients :
The software is prone to a few bugs, mostly consisting of the program crashing without warning. A few other bugs such as line connector not always working and objects overlapping when nesting with a box perimeter.
Progress?
Commentaires : We have largely seen no benefit and frustrated the users who were accustomed to the earlier software
Avantages :
We reluctantly use this product only because the earlier Plotter Pilot has become unsupported
Inconvénients :
The downtime due to the software losing it's registration/unlock info at inopportune times

Good news, Nathan! PatternSmith version 9 provides a very stable platform for pattern design, nesting and machine control. It will work with both of your Ethernet enabled cutting tables and you are eligible for the upgrade for FREE as a benefit of your current support agreement. We'd be happy to provide a demo and show you the new features and benefits of using version 9. Please reach out to software@autometrix.com for more information or to schedule a demo.
Invaluable to our company
Commentaires : The nesting saves us so much on material waste reduction.
Avantages :
The ability to store all of our ply patterns in one place makes it very easy to use for our ply cutting staff. It also nest the ply's with very little waste.
Inconvénients :
It does take some time to learn all the features that the software has to offer. But with some training it is easy enough to use.
Very user friendly
Commentaires : Our production is at least doubled since we started using it.
Avantages :
The program is very easy to use. It is a great program for beginner users and very easy to train.
Inconvénients :
The thing I like least about this software is the crashes if there is an "excessive" number of mouse clicks in a row.
Patternsmith
Commentaires : It has been an effective design tool along with providing efficient use of materials
Avantages :
Fully Integrated to our Fabric cutting system
Inconvénients :
Struggling to think of cons with so many benefits attached to the software
Essential Tool
Avantages :
The software is very simple to use and packed with automated features to make pattern cutting easy. Highly recommended
Inconvénients :
Originally it was the right click function and different way of doing things, now its second nature.
The new version is great.
Avantages :
PatternSmith 8.2 so way easier to use than the old version. Easy to create or import patterns.
Inconvénients :
Still a little buggy and crashes sometimes but recovers well without any loss of data.
PatternSmith
Commentaires : We use it daily. Overall it works well. We do run into glitches that we feel shouldn't happen, but PatternSmith seems open to working on them.
Avantages :
This is user friendly, offers many options.
Inconvénients :
Unfortunately there are random glitches. The base computer requirements have changed since the release.

Hello Glen, Thank you for taking the time to review PatternSmith software. Autometrix is constantly testing and making improvements to the software, so be sure to report any random glitches you run into, so we can address them (if we have not already). Our goal is to keep it user friendly while offering many options, so I'm happy to hear you confirm we are doing that!
Experience so far has been relatively painless after the learning curve
Commentaires : Helps us nest efficiently, we are able to try different iterations quickly and easily, our hands are less tired from using scissors!
Avantages :
Simple, easy to use interface. Nesting is pretty easy. I like using the trace feature to import patterns via photos.
Inconvénients :
It has been crashing more frequently on me lately. It doesn't tell me exactly why it crashes, but seems to happen when I am working with patterns that have a lot of points or bezier curves.
Réponse de l'équipe de Autometrix

Hi Travis - thanks for the feedback. Sorry to hear about the crashes! You guys have an active service contract (came with the machine) and so you're eligible for software upgrades. We'd recommend upgrading to our newest release, 8.2. (http://www.autometrix.com/resources/software/) and see if it's more stable. In addition, we've added an auto-save feature that should save you some headaches! Glad to hear you're enjoying the trace functionality - we think that's an underappreciated feature!
Easy to Use
Commentaires : The software was very easy to use and the technical support was amazing as well.
Avantages :
Very easy to use, user-friendly. Great Help documents.
Inconvénients :
I don't have anything negative to say about this software.
It's simple and works for getting things done
Avantages :
The best features I use are the different offsets and enjoy the ease of having keyboard shortcuts for just about everything I use the program for really increases my productivity.
Inconvénients :
The program does like to crash. It could use a marquee selection as well as more colors for reference to keep things straight although the addition of layers might solve this.
