Great program

Commentaires : It gives us a place to combine our info about all of our donations, donor base and allows us to group them as to the type of resource - be it a church, a business, individual, and even lets us categorize the types of payment.

Avantages :

The program is easy to use, mostly self-explanatory and logical. If help is needed the help is there in short order. Very comprehensive program.

Inconvénients :

I can't complain about anything so I don't have an entry for this section.

DONATION by Software4NonProfits

Commentaires : We track donations/offerings for our church. While the program does handle pledges, our church does not make pledges. We merely track donations in the form of cash or cheques or e-transfers. For this purpose, I HIGHLY recommend this program!

Avantages :

I tried a few programs early on in my time as treasurer (which is 17 years now), including Quickbooks and Donarius. I found Donation much easier to use than Donarius. Our needs are fairly straightforward and Donation allows for easy multiple donation entries for a given day. Also, the support has been great. Every question I've ever asked was answered usually within 24 hours. They even added features to the program at my request!

Inconvénients :

This program is really meant for tracking donations only. It's not meant to be a complete CRM system, so some folks may find it limited in that regard.

Cheap, Not the Best Tool

Commentaires : We were not extremely happy and needed more features to continue to grow our donor management.

Avantages :

The price was the best part. It was pretty easy to learn as well and teach others the program.

Inconvénients :

This needs improvement in many areas. For a small nonprofit that is just starting, it works well. We have grown to a place where we needed more features that it simply does not offer.

Great product for smaller non profits

Commentaires : Great company, great support, very efficient and easy to use the program. Accessible from other computers if you get the appropriate version.

Great product, easy to use. Inexpensive but not "cheap". Great support/help. Fantastic for smaller non profits.

We only stopped using it because we got very large and needed to interface with Planning Center.

User friendly, intuitive software

Commentaires : 100% happy with this product. Every feature it offers is reliable, updates are smooth. Outstanding customer service and support.

Avantages :

Donation is a user friendly, intuitive DMS. I have used a variety of DMS and have never wished Donation had a feature I needed. In fact, I enjoy that it is basic without a bunch of complicated stuff I don't need. It has all the reporting features I need and comes with outstanding customer support. I have already recommended Donation to another non-profit, which they ultimately transitioned to.

Inconvénients :

Maybe just add some auto formatting in the Postal Code and Phone number fields but not a big deal.

You can't go wrong

Avantages :

Donation is a very simple program to use. It will print out your receipts, thank you letters, and year-end tax statements for your donors. The learning curve is very short in all areas but one. Their tech support is quick. The cost is very reasonable. There are updates throughout the year and as long as you pay the yearly maintenance fee the problem will be always up to date.

Inconvénients :

Is can be difficult to set up your thank you letters. There are templates that you can edit, but it does not always follow correctly.

Using a ledger and excel spreadsheet VERY time consuming and this has simplified everything

Avantages :

ease of data input the reports program they have kept it simple but with many programs within it at an affordable cost simple but detailed.

Inconvénients :

not sure if I have one could use more choices in date of input categories so you can run specific reports for those of us who can't do SQL set up.

Donation Program from Software4Nonprofits

Commentaires : An exceedingly good program. I have been using it since 2014 and would not consider any other program. Excellent support! No flaws that I have encountered. Strongly recommended! There are many reports available within the program, probably all that anyone would need, but if you would like some other report it is not too difficult to create one and it can be memorized for future use. We are not currently using the Accounts program, because the church treasurer prefers to use QuickBooks, with which he is more familiar. I have used Accounts for several months and personally found it to be excellent. I would recommend both programs.

Avantages :

Ease of use, very good reports, excellent and very fast support from Dan Cooperstock who developed the software. You don't communicate with someone working at a distant call centre, it is either Dan Cooperstock or Kwame Barko who answer your questions.

Inconvénients :

There is nothing I do not like.

Makes keeping track of Church donations easy.

Commentaires : Provided a well designed database to replace a spreadsheet. Ease of data entry.

Avantages :

Able to enter donations based on date received as well as by donor. Produces report at end of financial year for treasurer and for tax reclaim. Able to import donations given directly to bank via editing a spreadsheet download from the bank.

Inconvénients :

As based in Canada and USA does not quite fit UK system, although accounting year is now possible based on UK fiscal calendar.

Functional & Straightforward

Avantages :

Quick to learn, easy to use. Expandable but seems to be oriented to small/midsized nonprofits

Commentaires : Donation is a database program that manages donors and their donations to charities. I have found the program relatively easy to setup and train volunteers to use. It provides a professional look to tax receipts. Backups, corrections and updates are easily made.
Integration with other programs (mail merge) is a little more difficult and the search engine is very powerful but has a steep learning curve. The look of the interface is a little bland.
Our agency has been using Donations since its early days as freeware and we like it.

DONATION useful for not for profits

Avantages :

The software is quite easy to use and has the functions we require as an organisation. It is easy to issue Tax Receipts and keep records of donations made. Customer enquiries were always responded to efficiently and software updates are straightforward.

Inconvénients :

Perhaps more templates for the receipt would be useful.

Review of DONATION

Commentaires : We are a relatively small (150 donors), local charity working in international development. DONATION is perfect for me to track donations and donors as well as to generate useful reports, email notices and mailing labels. The whole data base is accessible for customizing reports or generating special lists. Although these take some time to create, the Help section provides abundant instructions and examples to get the job done. Updates are available frequently and individual help if necessary is available. I have found Dan to be prompt and helpful when questions have arisen. The price is right. The only "con" I can think of is the lack of ability to directly do some stats on the data base. This is not a problem because the data can be easily downloaded into Excel for analysis and graphing. I am very happy with this product.

Software 4 Nonprofits

Commentaires : This program is an excellent program, easy to use, generates useful reports, very affordable, and just recently I recommended my friend which enters the donations for the church she goes to and they also are very excited about this program. Previously our Non-profit organization along with the church my friend s attends, all entries were done manually. This program has saved hours of time and because you can choose to send out official tax receipts once a year the cost savings for envelopes and stamp is amazing. The program writer, Dan Cooperstock is very helpful by email or phone if you have any questions regarding the program, he is a wonderful fellow. I would recommend this program for any non-profit organization that needs to generate official tax receipts. Overall this program is a 10 out of 10.

A Church Treasurer's Best Friend

Commentaires : The program made it all very easy. Batch entries by day, deposit prep, export ability to accounting programs, this program had it all for a very small price. The free version, with limited features, assisted us in deciding that this was the program we wanted to use. We are able to get reports throughout the year, print receipts for tax purposes that meet all the requirements of Canada Revenue Agency. You even have the option of printing all the collection detail if needed as well as the type of funds received. Even past years were available if needed to reprint receipts. The only downside relates to the set up of categories (for our various cause collections) which we had to do a couple of times. Online help as there but was not clear enough.

Love this Software

Commentaires : Donation software by Dan Cooperstock is really just what I needed to handle both my ministry and charity accounting. It is so easy to use and reports can be generated very quickly and accurately! If there is a problem Dan responds very quickly, which I really appreciate! This program is definitely for me, plus I enjoy telling others about it!

Great software!!

Commentaires : I am a CGA and recently volunteered my time as the treasurer for a local soup kitchen. When I took on this position, I found that the donor income tax receipts, and the thank you letters to the donors were being done manually. I needed to find a software that was reasonably priced that could automate the preparation of CRA approved income tax receipts for donations to a charitable organization. I found DONATIONS software and downloaded the trial version. It is easy to use, the customer support was exceptional and not only did it prepare the donor income tax receipts but it also prepares the donor thank you letters and the bank deposit slip. This software comes highly recommended!!!

Every Charity should use this.

Commentaires : I am the Treasurer of a non-profit community theatre group which has patrons, corporate donors and members, all of whom qualify for a tax receipt for their annual dues. I have used "DONATION" in one form or another for three years now and I have found that it makes the task of keeping track of these different types of donations very simple. The issue of receipts at Tax Return time is done automatically and that, for me is a great "plus". If I have any criticism, it is that one has to change the year through the "Maintenance" tab in order to list previous donations. There might be an easier way of doing that. Support from Dan has always been rapid and helpful.

Donation works great!

Commentaires : Our ministry has used the Donation software since 2000. We have been through the trials and errors of the developement and improvement. This has been a wonderful program for us and has saved us many hours and dollars when compared to some of the other programs out there. Mr. Cooperstock, the developer, is very prompt to answer questions or handle problems. We especially like the way it generates receipts, and while many organizations only generate them at the end of the year our ministry has always generated them each week. Overall we have been very happy with the program and would highly recommend it especially to smaller ministries.

DONATION SOFTWARE

Commentaires : DONATION Software is just what it says it is - very user friendly and tracks your donors and issues receipts. I had been looking for something that I would be able to simply be able to issue receipts and be able to use as a data base for my mailing list and DONATION did it.
I had a couple questions early on and needed some help in finding out what the problem was and boy did I get answers fast from the DONATION "help desk". I have never had such quick response from a "help desk" as I did from DONATION. It is simple to use and instructions are given in very simple terms, so that anyone could understand them.

Commentaires : When I took over the role of donation tracking in our church I was a little skeptical when this software was suggested, but I must say within 1 week I had a changed attitude. I have had nothing but exceptional service and support. It amazes me how much energy the developer puts into improving and upgrading the software because I feel like it is already so exceptional. Every time I've thought to myself, "oh it would be nice if I could..." after 10 minutes of looking I always find that that function is already built in. The program is just about dummy-proof.

Commentaires : The Donation software is simple to use & when compared to some other programs I have used in the past, it is inexpensive.
I have been using this software for three or four years & have not had any serious problems. When a problem did occur, it was easily "fixed" by reading the manual or sending an email with my question. It was always responded to in just a couple of hours.
I recommend this software to everyone working with church offering accounting with the responsibility of tracking donations, & sending out year end contribution reports.

Great for Church Tithes

Commentaires : We love using Donation for our church tithes. The end of the year letters are worded just as CPA told me they should be. It's very simple to set up and use. Although we have had no problems with the software whatsoever, we have had great customer service with emails including updates that we needed to install. I just recently moved our program off an old computer that used Windows XP onto a new computer using Windows 8 with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The backup worked wonderfully! The pricing is exceptional also!
