A Powerful Sales Tool

Commentaires : My company is not using CPQ yet, mostly because of budget and resource issues. We are also waiting for all company divisions to be ready for the switch, and we are planning to link Tacton to Salesforce and SAP. All of this means that the project is quite slow, so it is still in the planning stages. That being said, Tacton has provides us with a test environment, and some structures and processes are already implemented there. The new interface looks sleek and modern, and it looks like CPQ will deliver all of our complicated requirements. We are eagerly awaiting the day that we can go live with the new system. It will be one of the first IT systems used across the entire company.

Avantages :

I like the straightforward and open programming of the tool. It means that administrators need to do lots of planning and documentation upfront, but it makes the system extremely customizable and tailored to the company's individual needs without having to pay external programmers for every change.

Inconvénients :

The open programming means that the administrators have to know what they are doing, even more so than with "standard" database administration. This isn't a fault of the Tacton team, it's just a result of the Tacon CPQ administration strategy.

Good Software and Adminstration platform

Avantages :

The administration for the software is nice to use and easy to load tickets into production. The front end of the system where users are using has saved lots of time for users, and the flow is nice. Sometimes there are too many options but we have to break them down

Inconvénients :

Sometimes 2 people can work on the same ticket, without knowing or being checked out. There needs to be tight control on which elements are being working on

Commentaires : Overall i think CPQ is good, and have many good functionalities such as pricing models, automatic proposal generation and paramteric 3D view inside the configuration. However the UI needs to be changed. I would recommend that you find a group of people, that have never used the software before, and let them tell you about the experience.

Avantages :

I like the way that the prices are shown after you make the configuration. Also that you can control which pricing features that is visible for the user.

Inconvénients :

I think the UI is very confusing. We have many complains about it from our users. Also that you can't modify it to fit specific UI needs is bad.

Tacton CPQ day to day

Commentaires : We are calculating our complex pricing with Tacton CPQ, coming from Tacton Modelling, and this works very well and simplified many things without simplifying our pricing structure too much.

Avantages :

It is clear, you have a good search function, lot's of customization possible. It is quick to use, easy to deploy new versions and release changes. The handling of our complex pricing works rather well and the amount of data is no problem.

Inconvénients :

We use it combined with salesforce, and this works, but is an integration, and not really part of salesforce (yet). And we cannot use the same ticket for releasing to production and test. I like Excel, but I have to get used to the idea of using excel as part of core software. Multi user and excel is not the best.

It is a powerful rules based configurator for solving, simple to complex problems

Commentaires : Initially we started using this configurator for Proposal purposes, later we have expanded the configurator for doing the order work as well (complete supply chain activities incl. ERP integration). Now we are using the complete end to end solution to support the CTO (configure to order) process. It really helped us in saving lot of lead time in proposal generation and in order processing.

Avantages :

This configurator is a very user friendly configurator. We need not to learn any special coding/language to write the programs in Tacton. It is very helpful for solving the rule based problems very quickly. It is also very easy to integrate with external calculation programs like MathCAD, STAAD, Fortran, etc, It mainly supports the end to end supply chain activities.

Inconvénients :

The configurator can be improved in iterative calculations like goal seek function and loop calculations. Even though we can do this in the current version using JavaScript, it would be nice to have this feature in Tacton function itself. Few improvements can be done on the User Interface, to make it more user friendly for the end user.

Powerful CPQ tool for all complex Configuration needs and Pricing strategies

Commentaires : Overall Quote generation time is reduced. Customer support from Tacton should be improved.

Avantages :

Guided selling, Visualization and Pricing Engine is so powerful in Tacton CPQ. Their Ticket based Administration tool minimizes the conflicts during the release process. Workflows are easily configurable and Admin tool is very simple and easy to customize.

Inconvénients :

Though with the Tacton DOCGEN, the proposal can be customized as you like, its very complex to understand the huge list of Tags provided. There should be an easy way to customize the Document templates than using the Tags. Also, Migration from older system to Tacton CPQ doesn't have best practice.

MyCPQ new way

Commentaires : It's very useful tool for business proposal. Reducing the man hours and create a lot of solutions as well. Useful for maintain relative product documents and information for individual solutions.

Avantages :

It's look easy for user interference, Very good future maintenance our product data.

Inconvénients :

Could not see the range for float value in CPQ page. When use “tc_field_view_picture” for help image, I could not set enlarge view. It seems limitation space to set a picture. So, We could not set a large image. Sometimes we need to fix the values as mandatory. So I suggest to implement the “Mandatory value” enabled in CPQ page For notes and warning message, It could be better to differentiate the UI style. Now it’s showing a gray out text always.

Right way to Automate

Commentaires : Really it increase the productivity of our company. Buy and do automate it.

Avantages :

Allowing user to work with excel to create 'n' number of classes and export it easily to Tacton. Allowing user to add macro files & java script files. Easy way to export .xml files. Very simple logical key words to write constrains. On of the best tool to automate your product. Unlike other software it wont crash ;)

Inconvénients :

User interface should be made much better. If it shows time and date for the parts, attributes, classes, constrains etc., when we select, it will very useful for tracing easily.

Design automation

Avantages :

The integration to Creo CAD system. Easy to add data with excel

Inconvénients :

Not as flexible as we want in our applications.

Commentaires : We automated our product through this, We reduced the designing time of 60hrs per product

Avantages :

1.Time-saving 2.Easy to use 3. Anyone can use when it get configured

1.Starting it will take time to set up the design automation and understanding

Commentaires : Hard to implement but when implemented it works.

Avantages :

It is very elaborate. SaaS is wokring from every where too bad there is not a offline version to work with

Hard to use especially al the function in doc gen are difficult

Tacton CPQ Product Review

Commentaires : I love this product. It simplifies our business processes.

Avantages :

It is very easy to use and accurate with the pricing, discounts and quotes

Inconvénients :

I have not come across any Cons yet. It is a great product.
