Great Testing Solution for both new and experienced hires

Avantages :

It is a software that helps us make different assessments for different roles, both tech hiring and non tech hiring. The assessments are based on different skills and aptitudes required at that level. Overall our hiring has improved a lot since we have started using this.

Inconvénients :

I wanted it to be integrated with a ATS , so that we can then automate most of the steps. Its integration with India specific job boards/ ATS is limited at the moment.

Excellent service For assessing applicant talent

Commentaires : I have trust in the system's ability to accurately assess the candidates' technical skills. It has a built-in library of 250+ tests as well as the ability to create s customized assessments with a range of questions such as essay, text, and video-based questions.

Avantages :

It is a fantastic and entirely customized tool for assessing candidates. It is a great platform for testing candidates' expertise before hiring them, and we can create tests based on our specifications in a short period of time using numerous modules.

Inconvénients :

Many of my candidates complain that they did not receive their exam invitation invite, so there should be a resend/ reminder that will be appreciated. there are also no multiple-choice questions.

Bait and Switch

Commentaires : It was my go to system, until I renewed, now I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. So brutal with customer care and they take take take... stay clear.

Avantages :

They changed their billing options to remove features that are critical at the price you are paying and then when the system renews and now you don't want to use the system because it doesn't do what you want it to do they magically can't reverse the charges. They are criminal. Their customer service team is brutal too. They only communicate via email and ad zero value. Don't be fooled.

Inconvénients :

They let you start with features you get used to using at a rate that is manageable. Then they change their plans so the features you want to use you have to pay 10 times more for the following year.

We communicated to all customers in June 2022 about the changes to the PAYG plan that would take effect on renewal. This gave our customers ample time to familiarise themselves with any changes that would impact on their assessments - your plan was renewed in January. Challenging Assessments to Filter

Avantages :

TestGorilla is actually really good when it comes to challenge applicants to perform really well, as the overall difficulty of the assessments makes the test unforgivable as you have to be like really concentrated. This helps us a lot because it makes the filtering process easier to advance in other steps of the recruitment process.

Inconvénients :

The only thing that I think makes the assessment a little bit complicated for the applicants is the full-screen + camera monitoring, for us it's actually really good because it ensures that the test is done by one person, but for the applicant's side, makes them uncomfortable and may affect a little the whole recruitment overall experience.

Avantages :

The app is easy to use and integrates already a great number of tests and questions ideas. It clearly makes the implementation easy.

Inconvénients :

The app misses some flexibility in terms of answer durations, amount of questions, etc. The candidate review process could clearly be improved (switch from one test to another, avoid popups, etc.).

Great concept, slick, easy to use, but has bugs, too few assessments

Commentaires : -My account manager reached out to me only for the purpose to ask for a review without dealing with or expediting my technical issues.
-I was able to get up and running in a short time, but then I lost time as I had to deal with several bugs (tests nullified, waiting for tech support, having to 'ask' for credits, having to mark my own custom questions that had specific answers pre-selected)

Avantages :

-The system was easy and fast to implement. -I was very impressed with its ability to accurately assess my MBTI type with few questions. (I'm certified in MBTI) -The price was easy to accept as a small business. -The assessments were difficult to allow for differentiation between candidates.

Inconvénients :

-I added some custom questions that were not HTML friendly and this nullified the whole assessment including non-related ones, that a candidate took and I had to approach the candidate to take the assessment again which didn't show well on me. Tech support had to fix my specific test, but I wonder if they will re-code the platform to accept multiple 'spaces' in a question. I think the platform is too new to be reliable. -The tech support did not provide me with another credit after having an assessment was nullified. -The tests were too difficult for more junior positions. -There were few options to customize the delivery of the assessment. (e.g, add more custom questions than 10, have the platform notify the administrator that an assessment was complete) -With custom questions, even though you select the correct answer, the system did not 'mark' or give me a percentage correct. -The platform doesn't inform you when an assessment is complete (at the time of writing this review, I don't know if they would correct it after this review.) -Only a few dozen tests are available and the majority are for coding and hi-tech.

Used TestGorilla to hire external developers

Commentaires : Overall very good, we found the right developers who we hired for certain projects.
It made it much easier and for sure quicker when you have many candidates who are applying for one job add.

Avantages :

Easy to use and ability to choose the right tests from a wide verarity. With the ability to invite candidates in just a few clicks. Once the candidates invited, it was super easy to track in which part of the process each individual was. Not to forget to mention, the software makes it possible to request a video presentation from the candidates to fulfill where I could ask for a question or topic they can present themselves.

Inconvénients :

It would be good if we could benchmark the scores with an average done overall to better compare the results.

Time Saver

Commentaires : It served it purposes and definitely helped me make two critical job placements in 2021.

Avantages :

In a small company I wear many hats and do not have time to set up assessments and tests to get proper review of candidates. This allowed me to set up what I needed to sift through candidates to ensure I was bringing in the proper person for the job.

Inconvénients :

I'd like to see the questions the candidates answered.

Waste of time and money

Avantages :

The user interface is nice and professional. It's easy to administer

Inconvénients :

They claim to offer a "free trial where you can test anything". This is misleading - they make it appear you must upgrade your plan (minimum of $300) in order to try the tests. It is not clear you can test premium features without upgrading. I upgraded so I could try a couple of the tests (Laravel, PHP). I sent the tests to myself and realized they are terrible tests and don't provide any useful screening. So, I tried to use the "custom test" feature but it appeared I needed to upgrade again ($3600) in order to try it. After complaining and requesting a refund, they asked I do a 15-minute call with their CSM to discuss. I agreed with the stipulation that I expected a refund in exchange for my time on the call. After the CSM spent 25 minutes explaining how it was my fault, I got nothing for a refund and wasted a lot of time providing free feedback to them. In the end, it was a terrible experience, we spent $300 and got 0 value from their platform, they refused to issue a refund, and I wasted a bunch of time providing them feedback and writing this review. Lastly, they told me they cannot turn off the auto-billing on my account, only I can do that. However, they deactivated my account so I can't login. I guess we'll see if they auto-bill me for next year's subscription.

Easy to configure, but quality of the coding tests is not great

Commentaires : We use TG to assess developers after we've had a first interview with them.

Avantages :

It's easy to create your own test suite, and selecting predefined tests helps with getting started quickly. I also like the as-they-type code view - it helps to get an idea of how the developer constructs a solution - and I appreciate the automated screenshots (to my surprise all the candidates accepted video captures). I also like the logical thinking tests, although there's not really a way to see the users responses (this goes for all the questions).

Inconvénients :

I found some of the tests to be lacking in quality, sometimes resulting in frustration from the developer, or unhelpful results. For example: * the advanced SQL test is not a realistic scenario, and only has 2 outcomes: success or failure. It makes it hard to get an idea of the developers grasp of the subject, because it's just 1 giant assignment. If you get 90% right, you score 0 points. * the Laravel test does not really test the developers ability to use the framework in real life situations, but rather tests for static knowledge. * I found the PHP tests to be too simple and sometimes just poorly constructed (for example the prefilled function and parameter names are not great) I also created a custom PHP test, but the outcome verification has a bug, which will sometimes accept wrong answers (error status === true). I would have liked to see the users responses to multiple choice questions. Because of the randomness in the questionnaires, you don't know which questions they got. It would be helpful to see if maybe a user got dealt a couple of poor questions (and there are a few). It's a shame that (as a paying customer) this information is not revealed.

Buyer Beware - Not what I expected

I honestly have no pros I can say about the product.

Inconvénients :

The pricing model is not easy to understand. The free trial is barely a trial. You cannot see the questions to know if it is a good test. Support is dismal and takes days to get back to you. We barely used the product and had our first candidate have difficulty taking the test. The beware part, they state nothing in their terms as far as a refund which they would not grant the refund even though we explained the difficulty of all of the above. You pay yearly, so if you do not like it, you are crap out of luck.

Avantages :

Easy to use and manage the candidate pipelines. Once the test is setup, it's very easy to send it to the candidates, track, and evaluate.

Inconvénients :

It's difficult to setup the test that's applicable to a developers' day-to-day. I receive complaints from some candidates that the interface is difficult to use, some OS compatibility issues and code editor doesn't always work as expected.

Easy to use - simple setup and ability to send candidates

Commentaires : I have been looking for a solution to easily send job applicants assessments during the recruiting process and it's solved for that.

Avantages :

Ease of use. Ability to put an assessment together in minutes. The system sends out an email to applicants and they are then guided through the steps. The interface is very clean and clear and there are built-in safeguards to prevent others from completing the assessment for the candidates.I like that all of the major personality tests are available on the free version. As well as a number of skill-based assessments as well.

Inconvénients :

I've been using the free version, which is great. Of course, there are some limitations, but that is understood while using the free version. Despite those limitations, it's beneficial.The personality assessments are great, though I'm starting to be a bit unsure of their validity, as the majority of respondents tend to get the same result. I'm unclear if that's due to the similar nature of the roles I'm using them for, or if it's something else.

I wish we had known about this sooner!

Avantages :

After running my own company for twelve i know how much my success hinges on hiring the right people, but also... how costly (to the point of destructive) it can be to hire the right people. We relied a lot on CVs, referrals and ‘gut feeling’ in picking someone. But this software really made us see the power of test results to help preselecting which candidates to interview. Excellent! We’ve hired a couple of great people since we started using TG, one of whom i would have probably never even invited in the first place, but we spotted her thanks to her great test results! Really gave an extra layer of professionalism and smartness to our whole hiring proces. So far we used a couple of available tests which were very useful, but right now were considering also creating our own specific test questions to upload to TG

Inconvénients :

Its a community platform on which members can also upload their own tests, but since it hasnt been around that long, i’m looking forward to seeing more test options come available. Still you’ll find more tests on there right now than you could probably take. We’ve found relevant ones (leadership, intelligence, creativity, sales, seo, social media etc) and we’re in a niche sector (advertising and film making)

Great help for startups

Commentaires : Overall it helped us to professionalize our recruitment process. Also it provided good candidate experience and demonstrated that we are serious about hiring top quality candidates. It has been quite easy to setup and has become an integral part of our recruiting

Avantages :

We appreciated how easy you get define test batteries and how many modules are already available for different roles. Therefore we employed testgorilla to select pre-filter candidates as diverse as marketing, software engineering and product management.

Inconvénients :

I would love to see more in depth analysis on candidates individual results and what that means for the interview process. Some of the analysis seems quite generic.

Horrible experience

Avantages :

Not much. They charge for something that is mostly for free

Inconvénients :

The entire software really. The tests are not predictive for performance. The customer service is non-existent, they don't even allow you to cancel your subscription or delete your profile. All you can do is change to a free plan. Naturally, if you are that bad you do not want to see customers go that fast

Avantages :

The tests are easy to set up but the quality of them is questionable and the goal seems to be to lock you into a long term contract.

Inconvénients :

Technical tests are lacking and not on a level with the competition. The customer service policy seems to be to tell you what you want to hear until you're off the phone then send you an email to the contrary. I wouldn't recommend this product at all and would strongly suggest using only the free trial if essential. They require payment upfront and are not willing to have a constructive discussion about returning any of that money in the event the product doesn't live up to expectation.

Avantages :

User friendly, no/limited prep required for candidates (length of assessment given it's short), gives clarity on cheating, easy to navigate, ability to score/ rank candidates on multiple dimensions, flexibility to add/ take-out assessment elements

Inconvénients :

No option to provide candidates with preparation to practice

Commentaires : I am very happy with this invention and will definitely keep on using it!

Avantages :

I love this tool! We used it to find a Customer service agent for our company Sukhi: we had over 1200 applications! Can you imagine how much work it would have been if we had to go through their CVs and emails one-by-one? The average test score is my favorite tool: a great way to distinguish between the candidates. Plus the option to ask the candidates to add a video: it gives a very good first impression combined with their test results.

Inconvénients :

The software is very clear and logical, no negative feedback.

Decent product for the price - PDF of Candidate Results for pay-as-you-go would be helpful

Avantages :

Wide variety of tests in the library is great. Customer support comes back quickly enough. Feedback re: assessments is that they are interactive and not overly initiating allowing for a decent completion rate. The no cheat webcam is also really great.

Inconvénients :

PDF of Candidate Results for pay-as-you-go would be helpful

Hi Amy! Thanks for leaving us your feedback. We are happy to hear that you have been using TG effectively and having a good experience so far. Our test library is now expanding on a weekly basis and we are at over 190 tests currently! At present on the Pay As You Go plan, our customers are able to download candidate results in CSV or excel format.
