I like the text based editing feature. The AI tools are good as well.

Inconvénients :

The pricing is a little high. I have to spend too much time cleaning up the transcript between transcript errors and Speaker labels, If those worked well, I could greatly reduce the time it takes me to get a podcast ready to publish.

Perfect for creating professional software demo videos

Avantages :

I use Descript for screen recording software demos. The speech-to-text transcript functionality is excellent. The video can be edited side-by-side with the transcript editor. If you remove or correct parts of the text, the video is synced. Auto-cleanup of vocal disfluencies or hesitations ensures a clean and professional-sounding end result. Finally, I use the transcribed talk track for auto-generating subtitles, and I share it with co-workers as input for written content.

Inconvénients :

Processing of a video takes a long time. It requires a lot of computational resources and somewhat undoes the time savings of recording. The U.I. takes some time to figure out when you are new to Descript.

Descript hooks you with great features and let's you down when you REALLY need them.

Commentaires : I was VERY helpful and now I depend on it. It fails more than it works for me now and support sends me the same answers from their email samples. I REALLY need it today and support just LAYS there!

Avantages :

I love ALL the great features! When they work! Please don't depend on them though!

Great Audio Editor - Beginner Friendly

Extremely user friendly. I was able to get started editing audio files immediately. This software is so easy to use and really speeds up the editing process.

Inconvénients :

It's cloud based, so you can't use it without internet access. While it's very easy to use, it lacks some of the features that come with more complex systems (i.e. complex audio processing options, like equalizers and advanced effects)

A Must for Podcast Editing

Avantages :

Descript makes it easy to communicate with our production team for edits, pulling of soundbites, etc. It's also nice that it is its own app with storage due to the size of most files.

Inconvénients :

Combining multiple files from one podcast for editing is a little strenuous.

An Amazing Podcast Editing Tool!

Commentaires : Descript has definitely helped me grow my workflow. I'm exporting and transferring files way less. And it has also allowed me to dive into simple video editing for video podcasts and social clips.

Avantages :

Really love how easy it is to edit audio and video with text. Searching for specific phrases or moments via text instead of scrolling and trying to find it saves so much time!

Inconvénients :

The audio mixing features are still a bit lacking in my mind, especially if you get into a more complicated composition. But I work around by mixing and exporting audio in Pro Tools and dragging it in for the edit and music!

Commentaires : I am a new podcaster and I'm in love with Descript. I can't afford to pay an editor and Descript suits my needs. I believe I can even use it to record the podcast but I haven't played with that yet.

Avantages :

Descript takes all the filler sounds out of your recording - um, uh, etc. You can shorten long pauses - dead air. I love editing from the transcript. I have a mild tremor so fiddling with the usual sound editing software is difficult. It takes forever to get it at just the right spot. With Descript, I make the change in the transcript and Descript makes the change in the audio. I can delete words or whole sentences. I can even move things around. I believe you can train it to your voice so you can add words to the transcript and the audio file will sound like it was there from the start. It's magical!

Inconvénients :

If I want to use the transcription for other purposes, like a blog, it requires a lot of editing. Sometimes sentences aren't structured right and sometimes words are wrong. It's not all that time consuming, just annoying.

The Best Software on the Market to Make Videos for Non Experts

Avantages :

What's not to like about this software. It's incredibly powerful, but also intuitive and easy to use. There are plenty of training resources and even for a novice it's not out of the question to hit the ground running on day one!

Inconvénients :

Not much to dislike. This software is amazing. On a couple rare occasions I had issues with my video and audio being out of sync, but that was easy to correct.

Best audio trancription for the money

Avantages :

We use descript for two things: audio transcription (sometimes many hours a month) and for text based video and audio editing for staff who are less tech savvy. It works beautifully for both things.

Inconvénients :

I get so frustrated with the CONSTANT moving around of features and the sunsetting of classic might even make us switch projects. The editing aspect especially, we use it because it makes sense for folks who are more word (rather than visually) focused and for less tech savvy employees who just need to take out a word here or there or trim a video. The constant messing around with the environment confuses folks!

Take the frustration out of audio/video editing.

Avantages :

I love that Descript makes editing video and audio content so easy. And the transcriptions are so accurate it's scary! This software has saved me countless hours but more importantly removes so many barriers that keep people from getting started with creating video and audio content.

Inconvénients :

The editor UI is a bit clunky and compressed, I feel like the editor area should be larger which might make it even easier to use.

Descript has great features for Podcasters, but lacks in areas for Professional Video Editors

Commentaires : Descript has been a daily tool my team and I use for transcription, podcast editing, and audio editing. It's an amazing tool for seamless collaboration with clients and internal teams without constantly having to upload and download files. And an great tool to add basic cuts and B-roll to clips, however it does have its own set of bugs and a learning curve for new users

- Very easy to transcribe audio and manipulate any transcription error- Great collaboration tool with clients and team review, without sending the project file back and forth- Great tool for finding and downloading broll for video- Very easy to add captions to video

- Several bugs throughout (the issues changes throughout each update)- No offline mode solution (You have to upload media files to the cloud every time, large files can a long time- A bit of a learning curve for video editing features

I was amazed!

Commentaires : I was just testing this platform for the sake of it, but I was amazed! The approach to video editing directly on the transcribed script is very interesting. I thought that removing the silences and filler words was amazing, but finding that it can also replace words by cloning the speaker voice and the AI eye contact effect!... amazing.

Avantages :

This siftware can be a game changer, its very quick and precise to transcribe and the approach to edit the videos is quite interesting. Automaticaly removes filler words and silences and you can easily edit the videos and audios just by editing the text!

Inconvénients :

The video editor should be improved. Not being able to zoom out of the canvas makes editing the videos very hard, since the boundaries are out of the work area.

Still learning Descript

Avantages :

I can make professional sounding and looking video ON MY OWN. IT's not quite the same as hiring a videographer, but for $30 a month, it's pretty amazing!

Inconvénients :

I feel like the learning curve is slightly higher than Descript leads on for it to be. But that said, the free workshops they offer and their interactive tutorials were a huge help.

A video/audio editing tool that fits the way my brain works

Commentaires : I love that Descript lets me edit video by editing a transcript. In the past, planning my edit - because of how my brain was working - I practically ended up with a handwritten transcript. I thought: there's got to be a tool that will do this automatically. Then along came Descript!
Descript is a pretty robust tool for editing video and audio. They seem to be headed toward making it a full featured tool that can do it all. However, my background is in Adobe Premiere Pro, and right now it's not worth my time and energy to learn to use Descript instead. But Descript has been a very helpful supplement.

Avantages :

Descript has many amazing features - even ones that I would have never thought of to wish for. Here are some of the features that most impressed me. I love being able to edit video or audio recordings simply by editing the transcript. You can edit within the same file, or you can open another file in a separate window and copy/paste the sections you want from the original file - which remains intact. Descript's filler word and "dead air" removal are pretty amazing as well. The option to export a format that is editable in Adobe Premiere Pro comes in very handy. Currently, my workflow is to get the main video edit done in Descript, and then fine tune and add additional elements in Premiere. In fact, I had used Descript's Marker feature to indicate section headers that I was going to add in Premiere. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Descript's Markers translate directly to annotated markers in Premiere, making it really easy for me to find the spots to insert section graphics and which header cards to put where. Descript's built-in screen recorder has been very helpful for grabbing b-roll from websites. I even used it to show the Descript team some minor challenges I was having with their app.

Inconvénients :

The accuracy of the automatic transcription can be a bit hit or miss. British accents are notoriously problematic. Not only does the app misinterpret words, but the rhythm of the person's speech can cause the app to put the wrong punctuations in all the wrong places. If the transcript needs a lot of editing, I'll put the whole transcript in Edit Mode. But I often need to play back a section of audio to know how to correct it. Playback doesn't seem to work in Edit Mode, and it's very cumbersome to switch back and forth. I often need to add captions to the exact same clip in two different formats for social media - e.g. square and vertical. Simply uploading the caption file I had exported from Descript for the first clip to the second clip didn't work as I would have expected. The Descript developers are continually updating their app - which is both good and bad. It seems like every time you open it, some feature is new or modified when you haven't even had a chance to get comfortable with the way things were.

All-In-One Content Editing Solutions That is Affordable

Commentaires : I have saved countless hours using the transcription and text-to-voice features. This is the first software that I find to have a natural sounding AI with affordable price tag. I also could make the AI learn my voice and my inflections, and become one of the AI speaker, so I don't have to record my voice ever again

Avantages :

Text-to-speech feature. The feature could learn my voice and turn it into an AI voice. Now, I don't have to record my own voice for the audio of my next video project

Inconvénients :

In the span that I have been using the software, there has been major updates and changes made. More and more features have been added like the video editing for example, and some changes to the UI. I am mainly using it for audio purposes only, so the new features are not relevant to me. But I still have to be updated with the UI changes as it affects my work flow. I am still in the learning curve to master the software

My go-to transcription and text-based assembly service!

Avantages :

Descript is changing the way the next generation will make podcasts. And for old dogs like me too! It's a refreshing break from the DAW-focused world we live in today.

Inconvénients :

It's still a bit buggy on my M1 Mac, with frequent crashes/restarts. Always recoverable, but it does make me reticent to more integrate the tool into my workflow.

Wouldn't know how to podcasts without Descript !

Commentaires : Descript is a tool that blows me away. Without Descript, I would literally not podcast at all. The ease of working in text most of the time is a game changer, allowing me to focus on content.

Avantages :

I like most the automatic transcription and the ability to edit in TEXT rather than in waveform. For podcasting, Descript cuts 90% of my editing time. It is such a productivity booster and allows me to spend more time on editing the content, the flow, arranging pieces, etc.

Inconvénients :

File management can be confusing. Text editing interface could be a tad more fluent. I demand German language transcription :-).

Top to it’s class transcription software that is expanding so fast with a constant, nearly weekly set of ground breaking advanced updates.

Inconvénients :

All white interface is hard on the eyes, I wish we could customize to dark. I am wishing we could bring in an existing video/film edit. Such as a AAF or xml/eel file and collaborate as a team inside Descript.

Descript - audio and text editing

Avantages :

The transcription and editing capabilities is are what I use most. I can edit a podcast and have it blog ready in a very short amount of time. I like that I can edit out filler words painlessly with the touch of a button. Also, the tutorials have been a huge help AND the couple of times I've needed to reach out for help, I've found the Customer Support to be responsive and friendly. No downtime necessary to get my questions answered in a fast and timely manner.

Inconvénients :

I'd like to see the voice recognition and transcription continue to be improved. Descript does a great job, but the better it becomes, the faster I get due to having less corrections. Still, my editing is a simpler process now than it was before.

A Game-Changer for media production teams

Commentaires : Descript has really changed the way I produce podcasts and other media. It gives me more control and helps complete many tasks at once. I like that I can get a transcript, and edit the text AND audio at the same time. I haven't even used all the features available, but excited to work with more video projects in Descript.

Avantages :

What I like the most about using Descript, is that it allows me to use 1 tool for many of my needs. Previously I would have to use 3-4 different sites/tools to get the job done. It also allows me to make media (podcasts) more on my own time, instead of relying on freelancers and others.

Inconvénients :

It does seem to take a lot for my computer to process using Descript. I haven't run into any issues yet and have an upgraded computer, but could see an issue if I'm traveling or had less capacity.

A must-have for every video content creator

Avantages :

I have been using Descript for a while now, and have noticed a new series of features being added to the platform. However, even though those additions have been more than welcome, what I consider the platform's top feature is something that has been at its core for quite some time: Descript's transcription tool. In particular, I was really impressed by the accuracy of the transcription tool's AI. If I had to estimate, I would say that the accuracy of the transcriptions Descript has done for my video content has been around 90%, which is really good.

Inconvénients :

While the transcription tool has been very good and accurate, I feel that its user interface could be improved. In fact, it has happened to me a few times to accidentally delete parts of a video (since Descript can be used for video editing too), while I was trying to edit some of the captions/subtitles that were created by the tool's automated transcription feature. Luckily, I have also noticed this in time but this could have very well have led to a video having missing parts because of this "accident".

Such a fan!

Easy to use and accuratae

Commentaires : I use Descript to transcribe the debriefs for my cohort-based workshops. It's easy and fast. The participants like having the transcription to go along with the video.

Avantages :

It's fast to upload a video and fast to transcribe. Speaker recognition is also fast. I don't have to mess around much to get a pretty good transcription.

Inconvénients :

It's not 100% accurate yet. (They say 95% and it's at least that accurate.)
