COTS to OS Transition
Commentaires : We utilized BlueSky to develop an analytic program and structure that businesses can leverage to transition from costly COTS products to OS solutions, while encouraging the technically inclined among those businesses to venture farther into the realm of data science and statistical programming. As a result, we have saved our clients tens of thousands of dollars annually in software licences, and have introduced an entirely new perspective through which businesses view and approach their analytic initiatives.
I personally appreciate the ability to build and save models for subsequent implementation and deployment while having the option to tune the models with R code. As a consultant, however, the greatest strength of BlueSky is the ease of use for non-technical users. It truly brings the essentials of data analysis/science to all professionals by delivering a familiar environment with a very easy learning curve.
From the perspectives of my clients, BlueSky and its users would benefit greatly from incorporating common pivot features that are familiar to those working in Excel.
Easy Integration with the R Language
Commentaires : I found it very easy to learn and the support staff seemed happy to get ideas for how to improve the product. They have added several things that I asked for. If you send them R code and describe a dialog box you would like to see them add, there's a good chance it will appear in the next release. It's an open source product with a RedHat-like pay-for-support model, so of course, paying customers will likely get a quicker response on requests like that.
Like most statistics packages, BlueSky Statistics has a lot of statistical analysis methods, but what makes this software stand out is its tight integration with the powerful R programming language. All of BlueSky's work is done behind the scenes in R. Most users won't probably know this because unless you go looking for it, the R code that it writes is completely hidden. Unlike some other software like this, you don't have to install R, then install BlueSky since it includes its own copy of R. So you install one thing, start it up, and you're ready to start using Excel-like menus to import data, manage and manipulate it, visualize it, and analyze it. So if people might not be aware of R's role in this software, why is it such a big deal? Because people who do know this popular language can use it to add their own menus and dialog boxes to the software. Also, people who want to learn to program in R can ask BlueSky to display the R code that it writes to perform each task. If you're into the details of that language, BlueSky uses the modern "tidyverse" version of the code as much as possible, including using the ggplot2 package for data visualization.
There are two things I hope the vendor can improve on. First, this is Windows-only software. They say a Mac version is in development, but we have a lot of students who use Macs. Second, I wish it remembered all the dialog box settings from session to session so people could re-use their work without dealing with programming code. It does have a History menu that you can use *within* a session to repeat variations of an analysis, but to go from session to session and repeat all steps requires saving the R program that it wrote for you. When I wrote their tech support address, they said that too is on the way.
Say goodbye to paying for statistical software
The interface is extremely user friendly and accesible. You can easily point and click your way through a problem and then save the R-code . Great way to easily run statistical analyses and learn to code while doing it!
Not crazy about the output management capabilities. However, you still get all the information you need .
A good alternative
Commentaires : I have been extremely happy with the open source version and would encourage anyone who is being squeezed financially within their university to give it a try.
As many universities have had to tighten their belts, budgets for things like a subscription to SPSS have gone by the way side. BlueSky has been a real life saver. Not only does it allow for most of the statistical features, the ones that are not included can still be used with r code. While most of the time I use the graphical interface to perform the majority of tasks, sometimes there is something I need it to do that I cannot find. While I am not remotely an expert, there are plenty of experts who work in r that makes this an incredibly powerful option.
The three tabs are great if you have a multiple monitor setup, but when working one a single screen (i.e. a laptop), this can be incredibly inefficient to have to switch back and forth constantly between tabs.
Beautiful statistical software
Commentaires : I like it and want to explore all its menu because I am sure it expand my knowledge about R and statistical analysis.
I like its beautiful design and its functionality that cover most routine statistical analysis in research. Its set of the parametric and nonparametric test seems complete except for McNemar's test. It's model fitting and model checking and model tuning capabilities also are interesting.
It seems this software like R does not let to edit graphs.
Blue sky makes R easy to work
Commentaires : Reading data, Data analysis, Graphics and charting became much easier
This GUI is more professional and makes it easy to work with R
I don't have any. Overall it is ok. Well designed
How you can learn and use R program easily!
Commentaires : I have been using BlueSky Statistic to analyze data about policies of Higher Education and Scientific Research
The main features and tools are available with few steps: graphs, complex analysis and forecasts are accessible for everyone. In a intuitive graphing environment.
Interactive maps and animated graphs can and must be improved in this software. Because, our audience think that this way is easily understand a big data
Customizable alternative to expensive packages like SPSS
Commentaires : Although I use R for the majority of my personal analyses, I use BlueSky to teach statistics to college sophomores and juniors. Use BlueSky allows me to show students both how to produce and interpret output and, through the use of the scripting, how the output is created in R. Furthermore, using the Dialogue Developer, I can create customized scripts to run analyses exactly the way I want the students to learn them. I have also encouraged my colleagues to consider switching to BlueSky as a cost effective alternative to SPSS.
BlueSky is user friendly and easily customizable. Furthermore, the free version allows me and my students to do everything we need.
The only minor issue I have is that BlueSky does not update frequently to the latest version of R.
Alternatives envisagées :
Improve menu distribution
Quantity of GUI features Quantity of procedures based on R Developers curriculum Syntaxis translated into R code
Confused menu distribution Duplicated R directory
Very useful and promising
Commentaires : I use BlueSky in the process of teaching statistics and methodology, along with other programs. Each time I observe the ease with which students learn and use various functions of Blue Sky.
Easyness of learning and use. Excellent tool for aproaching R. Good user interface Excellent features for reliability analysis Excellent features for manipulating/transforming/computing variables Adjusted p for multiple testing (rare to find in other statistical software) Efficient contextual help support.
Sugestions: A menu button for direct/easy switch between Data window and Output window. SEM (CFA & Structural models) In Variables view, the posibility of selecting multiple variables for changing some properties (e.g. Measure Scale)
Commentaires : Ease of use,
It is becoming an alternative to e.g. SPSS and other expensive packages
Not all statistical techniques I frequently use are on board, but each new version more techniques are added
Great tool for automation and implementation of scheduled production
Commentaires : BlueSkyStatistics allow us to integrate in 1 tool all the power fo R without great effort in learning the R language
It is a very powerful tool, that allows to integrate several source (SPSS data, excel input and more on) with the feasibility of run different statistical methodologies through the great power of R.
It could be integrate more additional statistical methodologies in the main command.
Easy to use and comparable to SPSS
Commentaires : I use BlueSky for research and recommend it to my students who don’t want to pay for other expensive statistical analysis software packages.
It was easy to use and comparable to SPSS without the high cost.
There is Nothing I didn’t like about the software.
An excellent bridge to using R
Commentaires : Just very impressed. Some useful online guidance and podcasts plus notifications provided of software upgrades
For those of you used to using SPSS etc. but want to develop into R users this is the software for you. A graphical user interface makes it less daunting for the new user but allows access to a wide range of R packages. Code can be accessed and indeed added to when needed.
It would be unfair to say anything negative about the software as using the free version. Invaluable therefore for higher education students.
BlueSky Statistics Free Version can be used for many clinicopathological research analysis. It can be used for descriptive statistics, group comparisons, hypothesis tests. It depends on R-project. That is why one has to install R separately. Some analysis coming with base R packages can be performed easily. However when one tries to use analysis that require other packages (like survival analysis) it gives an error with instructions guiding how to install missing R packages. This step should be modified to update or install packages automatically. Many users are not familiar with R-project and library structure.
Coming soon link goes to an old page. The interface mimics SPSS too much.
Easy to use - great functionality
Great interface for those who aren't familiar with code - it gives access to the broad functionality of R
offers only code-based reproducibility and would like to see it on CRAN
Commentaires : Blue Sky Statistics helps me fast calculate the statistical analysis.
Very useful software, fast and easy to understand
It would be better to create an app, I think
ease of use. easy to comprehend. free trial.
I am still learning about this software. Need more Online help
