Give Butter: Phenomenal Fundraising Software

Commentaires : The overall experience with give butter has exceeded all of our expectations and has been a complete game changer for our fundraising goals and metrics.

Avantages :

I love the interactive component to the platform, the ease of use and the ability to allow donors to contribute to cover overhead costs of managing the campaign.

Inconvénients :

I like least the functinality to change the templates.

Integration with Bloomerang is critical and easy to use

Commentaires : We would not have used GiveButter if it had not been for their Bloomerang integration. That has made transferring donor data and information super easy.

Avantages :

Easy and very intuitive to use. Free to set up pages and has a good number of options to use, but not an overwhelming number of options. Love that on auction items, you can manually add bids (for live auction) and can change the auction start date for each item.The integration with Bloomerang is crucial! It is the reason that we are using GiveButter. There are other good options out there, but they don't have the native integration.The Live Display feature is slick and will come in handy at live events for real-time updates.

Inconvénients :

For some reason, text will not format correctly in the Story section, especially when copying and pasting. I have been told by support that I need to manually type everything in versus copying and pasting. Bullets when formatting text don't work correctly either. This is a basic feature that must be corrected immediately.The ability to use discount codes on the registration page is pretty weak. Cannot configure codes to specific items. For instance, if you want $10 off a specific ticket, you can't assign it to that specific ticket. Doing a percentage amount can get messy too. Need the ability to assign codes to specific tickets.Missing chance drawing (raffles) functionality. We're bastardizing a way to do it using auctions, but I hate to have to bring in another software to execute the chance drawing.

Some food for thought and a happy user

Commentaires : I love that the platform allows me to sell tickets, fundraise, and manage donors. My donors did not like the prompts to tip and pay fees. I ended up mostly turning those off to avoid complaints. Overall, it's a great platform!

Avantages :

That it is both a ticket sales and donor management platform.

Inconvénients :

I would like to see better development of the platform for donor management. It was not easy to see how to address a thank you letter to a household when entering new constituents. Maybe you have a recorded training about this that I could learn from. We have been using Little Green Light for donor management. They have more capacity for tracking and connecting constituents that I would like to see developed in GiveButter (or that I need to better understand in GibeButter). Secondly, I was disappointed that there was not a clear way to mark ticket sales as separate from donations. I found that if I set a goal for fundraising, the ticket sales and donations both were counted towards the goal. However, the ticket sales were not a donation and should not have gone towards the goal. Because the platform did not allow me to separate them, I had to stop showing the fundraising goal bar.

The good is great and the bad is really a pain

Commentaires : We are mostly pleased with Givebutter. It's been a stressful experience making this transition and doing all the data work, only to discover that the above mentioned items were not as they were sold to us. We're making it work and enjoying the rest of the Givebutter experience. We really appreciate the free basic plan and the excellent customer service.

Avantages :

Streamlined payment systems, delightful customer service, and of course, it's free. We have enjoyed the event features and are VERY glad for the recent rollouts.

Inconvénients :

We were overpromised on a few major items on the front end by Givebutter staff. We had completely transitioned our data by the time we found this out. It's very disappointing and causes a load of extra work. 1.) Reports being raw excel and not savable/reproducible is extremely inefficient. 2.) Contacts being only individuals and not businesses, with no mode of addressing couples makes letter composition in GB impossible for us. We are forced to use mail merge in Word because of the "placeholder" last name of our business contacts. That means generating a report and cleaning it up, then doing a mail merge, and then going in and manually selecting who has been acknowledged. It's just the worst. Letters being pdf only makes no sense and turns a very basic and needed feature into an all-or-nothing stressor 3.) We were told that we could upload forms for year-end tax credits and have since found out that we cannot. The forms are state tax credit forms- fillable pdf. Big bummer. Lastly, Givebutter does not interface with Quickbooks and that creates a need for Zapier which costs more money and doesn't reliably work, we are finding. A lot of time is spent fixing Zapier and Quickbooks. Even our old dinosaur of a CRM communicated with Quickbooks, so this is a biggie.

So easy to use, streamlined our campaigns and events

Commentaires : Givebutter has made a huge difference or our nonprofit's events and fundraising campaigns capabilities. It has streamlined our efforts, made everything so easy for us and for our donors, and saved our staff so much time.

Avantages :

We rely strongly on Givebutter's functionality for our campaigns and events! It is so simple to set up fundraising campaigns and events and then track all activity in real-time. There are no fees to use it; they get tips from our donors and ticket purchasers. We use it for all our donations capabilities, including in-person and online events, ticketing, auctions, and fundraising campaigns. We are so thankful for the robust functionality it offers our nonprofit!

Inconvénients :

We honestly have had no issues with using this platform. Whatever information we need for reporting purposes is there, organized, and easy to find. We are huge fans!

Smooth like butter with GiveButter!

Avantages :

I absolutely have loved this platform. The staff are communicative and supportive. The platform is user friendly. They are also receptive to feedback an actively make changes that are suggested which is os nice. Beyond this, the cost is something that cannot be beat! Perfect for a smaller nonprofit with a terrible budget but big goals!

Inconvénients :

Nothing so far. If I had to put anything down it would be that I wish I had found them sooner!

Commentaires : We really like the event page options, and ease of use. And all the different ways to pay, plus text to donate, QR codes and more! And we have a free program. This is exceptional. People have liked donating on the platform.

Avantages :

Easy to use, lots of options to use it right away that are included in the free access to the program.

Inconvénients :

People doing events are having trouble seeing everything for their event, even though I have invited them to have access. The Givebutter card reader that I was sent last year, and software is really dependent on someone having Samsung or Apple phones, and the latest models, not other brands of android. This is a challenge. I am not sure how to have matching donors, or recurrent donors.

Efficient and Cost-effective

Givebutter is powerful and intuitive. It is a great tool for nonprofits that need to get a lot done efficiently and cost-effectively.

Inconvénients :

Well... I thought for a long time that it was too good to be true.

A User-Friendly CRM

Commentaires : Great. We don't have complex needs, and GB meets all the ones we do have. They also have good customer service as the few times I've reached out with questions, I've received prompt responses.

Avantages :

It's easy to use. I don't have a background in fundraising or CRMs, but after a few weeks of playing around (and reviewing their tutorials), managing my customers became straightforward. Also, the ability to have donors or customers cover costs is very helpful. Our last CRM had a monthly subscription cost that became a problem, especially during months we weren't much using it. Having the flexibility of patrons helping cover these costs makes our org that much more financially sustainable.

Inconvénients :

There's a default setting that enables the patrons to give tips to GB. Though the tips can be adjusted by percent, there's an initial sticker shock to the final cost of a donation or service that was off putting to our customers—many of whom were older and didn't realize that this tip feature was optional. We've since disabled this feature on all our campaigns, and then tip GB ourselves with our payouts, but there were a number of unpleasant emails from angry patrons initially.

Great easy to use, user friendly platform

Avantages :

I am thankful for the ease Givebutter has brought to donor stewardship. It’s great to also have functions like raffle and silent auction and the ability to sell tickets all in one platform. It has made for gathering data which is then used in stewardship much easier.

Inconvénients :

We would have loved access to printing tickets for pre sale. A lot of our audience like paper tickets from a physical place

Best Option for Small Nonprofits

Commentaires : We have no plans whatsoever to change from Givebutter and see ourselves using it for a long time. It's perfect for our needs! Any nonprofit with a budget of under 1M would be wise to explore Givebutter as an option.

Avantages :

Givebutter's customer service is probably my favorite, though a close second is the format of the dashboard and ease of use. I always receive a response from customer service within an hour or less when I've reached out, and I see consistent improvements being made from suggestions made by users. They really, really listen to what users are saying and implement solutions quickly!

Inconvénients :

The only function I dislike is in the auction feature, where it cannot be deleted from a campaign. We launched an auction on the wrong campaign by mistake and now it lives there indefinitely, without a way to remove. However, I'm confident Givebutter will update soon to fix this, as they always have a way of listening to the needs of their users and implementing solutions quickly.

Always Recommending

Avantages :

Having no up-front cost removed the fear of using this product. We searched countless donation processors and CRMs and it was very difficult for me to get our team to commit to any of them that came with an up-front cost. This removed those barriers and gave us a good level of customization for a system that we never had to put a dime into (either donors covered the fee or the incredibly minimal fee was taken out before it came to us)

Inconvénients :

I wish there was a volunteer event style function built in.

Amazing software for small nonprofits

Commentaires : Amazing experience with Givebutter and I would 10/10 recommend them to small to mid sized nonprofits looking for a comprehensive fundraising solution! I don’t recommend it for larger organizations that need more custom solutions and robust reporting.

Avantages :

The price is unbeatable — it’s free, other than fees that can be passed to the donor! Not only is it free, it’s intuitive and powerful. It’s better than some of the paid tools I’ve used. The customer service is fantastic and they are always adding new features. Free SMS?! Such a bargain and has been so useful to our organization.

Inconvénients :

The email functionality isn’t great because the email design/template isn’t very customizable. However, it’s great for just transactional emails, and anything more sophisticated I use another email platform for. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the way the plain donate forms looked, but they’re updating those too!

Pleased with our switch

Commentaires : We switched from Classy to Give Butter and are very pleased with the ease of using it. We especially like the support that Givebutter gives, as well as the webinars.

Avantages :

Most recently, I loved the ease of creating a thank you letter to all of our donors.

Inconvénients :

I was told by a donor that it is hard to cancel a recurring donation. Also, that the added fees were not easy to recognize for our donors.

Wow- just Wow

Avantages :

You would expect with a free platform you would get lesser customer service than other paid platforms, but that is the completed opposite. The team at Givebutter are friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. Every single person I've worked with is a five-star ambassador for the brand. Amazing to work with.

Inconvénients :

There are a few features I'm wanting that are in development.

User-friendly and always evolving

Commentaires : It has been great. The customer service team is understanding and quick to respond. If there's something I ask for that isn't an option, they will add it to their list of requests and usually get to it in about 6 months or so depending on how popular of a request it is. I can't wait to see what they come out with next.

Avantages :

Love that it is easy to use for admins and donors. The Givebutter team is so open to feedback and makes frequent updates that help us fulfill our need better

Inconvénients :

They automatically add a 5% tip to every donation unless you opt to turn it off, in which case you would absorb the cost as an organization. It's definitely the more feasible choice to have it turned on, but beware if your donors don't notice it, they might come back to you very unhappy...

GiveButter is the best donation software I have used so far!

Commentaires : So far so good, we have started several campaigns and done pretty well to meet our goals!

The interface is very easy to use and I love that we can incorporate Give Buttons and donation pages right into our website!

I can't think of anything I don't like at the moment.

We have tried everything and Givebutter is just what we need!

Commentaires : I highly recommend working with them. We had initially used etapestry for the first few years, it was clunky and expensive. We moved to Aplos and enjoyed our time, but they introduced many features, many of which didn't work well. The accounting feature didn't synch with the donor management side and it was also clunky. We began to look elsewhere. At the direction of our bookkeeper, we sampled Planning Center (users literally hated it) and Subsplash, and neither were good for non-profits (both wanted $ and for users to use an app/login to give). Finally, we looked into Pushpay - which is super user friendly, but expensive. We are thrilled with Givebutter, it suits our non-profit needs perfectly and our donors LOVE it.

Avantages :

At the risk of sounding like Goldilocks, for us Givebutter is 'just right'. It is free and easy to use. Givebutter is constantly updating and adding new features.

Inconvénients :

The event and sign-up modules could be more robust. That said, they're actively working on this.

Simple, user friendly design!

Avantages :

Givebutter's user interface is very intuitive. I started creating events, fundraisers, and donor profiles during my first session on the site.

Inconvénients :

Many individuals who donate through Givebutter are also members of our organization. Unfortunately, Givebutter doesn't have a function to email donors directly. This essential feature would make Givebutter our go-to donor AND membership management platform. Hopefully, Givebutter will develop their communication options in the future!

GiveButter makes fundraising for non-profits easy and user-friendly

Commentaires : The group I am a part of doesn't have a lot of tech-savvy members. being able to use an intuitive platform like GiveButter makes it feasible and easy for us to fundraise at all types of events. QR codes, campaign URLs, and text-do-donate have all changed who we can reach and how.

Avantages :

GiveButter campaigns are so easy to set up; they let you duplicate a previous campaign and amend as necessary. It's intuitive and you can always view what your campaign looks like at any step of the way.

Inconvénients :

Some of the user interface seems busy and it's not always clear which areas of the page I should be giving attention to. But I do always figure it out in the end, and by looking at everything I find out more about GiveButter's functionality.

Great Nonprofit option

Ease of set-up - it was very easy to get going Easy donor interface - having a clean, easy to use page for supporters to make donations was very important and Givebutter does it well.

Inconvénients :

I'm still learning to use it and I'm the point person so there are still many things I have yet to learn that I simply haven't had time to get into yet.

Givebutter is a low-cost, easy to use platform for handling online fundraising

Commentaires : Great, it's flexible and we've been able to re-use past pages or forms as the basis for new fundraisers and just update them to reflect what we're doing, which saves time. It also is a great tool in terms of collecting donor info for CRM.

Avantages :

Low-cost and low platform fees, accessible and easy to set up brand new fundraising pages and forms. Good integration access with CRMs and customizable reporting for reconciliation. Support is responsive and helpful, and new features are continually rolled out.

Inconvénients :

It would be nice to be able to set up a single page with multiple sub-fundraising forms with in it for different revenue streams, especially when it comes to a single event with different fundraising options or a series of related events that it would be best for donors to navigate from one central page where they could see all of the different options available, and donations/purchases would be able to go to different accounts to make reconciliation much easier.

A newbie but learning more every day!

Commentaires : Overall, I would recommend Givebutter to other nonprofits. I can see the possibilities of all features available, and since we're quite new to the online CRM world, we are able to slowly do this without the expense of paying fees while we get our feet wet. Looking forward to all that is to come!

Avantages :

You cannot beat free! For the level of service, constant improvements, support staff that is responsive and collaborative, we have been very pleased. Is it perfect? No - but again, their responsiveness makes it so you can tailor things to your needs. If they don't have a feature you need, they do consider it and crowdsource how other users feel about it, and it often is the case that others need it too. We aren't used to such behavior in nonprofit world - we are often told to deal with it and still pay up!

Inconvénients :

We have used it most for our Auction gala this year. It was our first time doing such work completely online, and it went so well! There were some hiccups - some of that on our end as we had a learning curve as well. For the attendees - who ranged in age from 20s-80s, there was a struggle for the older crowd, but I hear this is the case for many who utilize any online platform. They felt the registration process and sustained connectivity were an issue. There were also some things we would have liked to control more around timing/closing of auction items and end reporting, but overall it was very usable.

Not a great fit for our live auction and raise the paddle

Avantages :

Givebutter is free and generally easy to set up campaigns and accept donations.

Inconvénients :

Halfway through our fundraising event, Givebutter made it extremely difficult to assign items and raise the paddle donations to our guests. As a result, we received a lot of criticism and ended up having to take payment on a different platform than Givebutter. Our event guests found accessing the online silent auction very difficult and confusing. Many users had trouble accessing the page as the Givebutter link sent them to a very weird website. As a result, we believe we lost a significant amount of donations the night of our event.

Commentaires : We enjoyed using this platform. It was very easy to use and we loved that donors had the option to donate but were not required.

Avantages :

Give butter is a lot cheaper than other platforms which is very important for us when we fundraise. We need our funds to go directly to our schools and not to outside costs. The live display was a great feature to have in our front offices on display and helped keep the fundraiser enthusiasm up. Reports were also easy to pull.

Inconvénients :

In the spring I use booster and that platform allows students to make a profile and have donations come in through their personal link. On the back end, for me it is very helpful because I can see the amount the class raised and the amount the students raised individually as well as who are participating. With this site I was able to create a mandatory box to ask donors who they were donating for but I had to go back in on my end and create a separate spread sheet to organize this information. It is very time consuming.
