The Best spreadsheet program overall
Numbers, le tableau indispensable
Avantages :

I Love Numbers!
Commentaires :
Two years ago I opened a new Non-Profit School. Unlike all all of the other schools I had run, my board left the budgeting and financial tracking entirely in my hands. Up until now I had always been handed an excel document with dozens of sheets detailing the budget that I was supposed to run. Faced with having to create my own I sat down to my Mac knowing what it should look like, but not how to get there.
In Excel I was frustrated with trying laboriously to figure out what each formula needed to be to get the result that I needed. I spent hours trying to arrange the numbers in a trackable fashion.
Then I tried Numbers. Numbers had always been sitting there, right at the bottom of my MAC screen. It had never occurred to me to explore. Once I did I was thrilled. It is easy to use. Often seems to not only know what functions I will need, but be so intuitively driven that I find them without intending to look. I now use it for all of our information keeping and tracking; financial, enrollment, charts, calendars, menus and so much more.
I actually get annoyed when someone sends me an excel doc and am in the habit of opening it in Numbers immediately.
Avantages :
Numbers is easy to use even for non accountants. I haven't been trained in spread sheet functions etc, but Number's functions seem to anticipate anything I might want to do and to make it work in a way that I can figure it out intuitively.
Inconvénients :
Oddly enough I would like to see more color options in the "fill section". I have figured out that I can design in graph form for projects using Numbers very nicely, except that unlike all of my other graphic and polishing software, Numbers' colors are not able to "match".

A solid spreadsheet tool with missing features
Commentaires : It was a solid and reliable piece of software, and you can't beat the low price of Free. Using it involved some gymnastics from time to time, dealing with the fact that Excel is still the dominant software in this space. I would recommend this, if you are simply looking to do some spreadsheets for yourself at home, and don't anticipate to need any crazy or specific features, and also don't plan on collaborating with a team of people who primarily use Excel.
Avantages :
This was my introduction to spreadsheets, instead of Excel, as it was built into the Mac ecosystem. As a first-time spreadsheet user, many many years ago, it was easy to use, intuitive and made sense. As opposed to Excel, which has a "canvas" that is 100% spreadsheet (the canvas is all cells and your data can go anywhere), Numbers operates on a "table" basis, with an infinite canvas. It allows you to place neat tables wherever you need, so you can lay two data-sets side by side. Numbers formulas are also quite intuitive, giving you handy tooltips and overlays about what each of the formulas means as you go through them. It handled complex boolean logic, advanced arithmetic, and conditional statements without a problem. However, some of the formulas were a little bit limited and were absolutely not fully featured compared to Excel. Integration within the Apple ecosystem was wonderful. Documents synced instantly to all my devices relying on iCloud, and changes were pushed quickly. The collaboration was great, although not necessarily fully developed.
Inconvénients :
The main con of this software is that it's not Excel. It sounds stupid, but in using both Numbers and Excel for separate purposes, the differences are clear. Having to transition around and around from the industry-standard Excel to Numbers, which operates just on a slightly different basis can be jarring. Numbers, at the time of writing, was also missing some handy features, such as solving, data analysis, and additional plugins. The exporting into Excel, for those people that don't use Mac, could result in some data being jumbled if using complicated Numbers-specific formulas or formats. The same is true for the other way, as most people won't send you a Numbers document, but an Excel document.
Numbers - easy to get started and get organised! Highly recommend.
Commentaires : I found it possible to dive straight in, start making spreadsheets and then learn more as I a went along simply by googling "how to....in numbers". As with any new software it took a little while to become really comfortable with it, but the ability to get started straight away felt positive and motivated me to keep going! This began entirely for business purposes but I now love my spreadsheets so much, I have created several from my personal admin and household organisation - quick and easy and makes one feel in control! :-)
Avantages :
It's relatively easy to use, more intuitive than excel and works well for my fairly basic needs and I know I can do more with it if and when the need arises.
Inconvénients :
Nothing to complain about really! I wish the basic "new file" had slightly bigger cells and the filled cells defaulted to a colour other than grey, but really these are very minor issues which are quite easy to change.

A Lite Microsoft Excel
Commentaires : We've had to use this program on an apple device's when alternative programs were not available to use or purchase due to our IT policies.
Avantages :
It's overall a good program for an apple product. That comes stock on a device and and has the basic functions of a normal microsoft excel.
Inconvénients :
It is by no means microsoft excel and definitely lacks in some of the functionality and features that users are so dependent on within microsoft's well known program
numbers solve it ..it's really useful
Commentaires : It helped me perform complex mathematical operations, and the best thing is that it gives me the results accurately. The best thing is that it is easily available on the iPhone.
Avantages :
It is very positive because through it I can perform calculations and it is actually accurate
Inconvénients :
Still now no negatives, but we hope that it will be developed

A great tool - but I'm using Google Sheets more often now
Commentaires : A quality app, but needs a UX rethink: Google Sheets is more intuitive. The iCloud syncing needs to be reliable.
Avantages :
I have used Numbers for many years and it is a very high-quality tool. The in-app support (e.g. with formulae) is helpful, and I have learned a lot as a result! It is straightforward to make the sheets and charts look really good, including using brand colours. I like that Numbers is a native app on my devices, and the hand-off means I can access it on desktop, laptop and phone.
Inconvénients :
The syncing with iCloud has been a bit patchy recently. I don't expect bugs like this to happen with Apple: their stuff so often works perfectly, and doesn't need defragging. I use Google Sheets as well as Numbers and am finding that the interface in Sheets is more intuitive than Numbers - for example, when manipulating data. The sharing and collaboration works really well too.
The best for spreadsheets
Commentaires : Numbers does all it needs to for me I use Numbers for all my admin tasks
Avantages :
Easy to use with all the necessary functions, easy to set up for invoices, estimates etc
Inconvénients :
Numbers does all I need it to do, no cons found
Just as good as excel
Commentaires : Best feature is Numbers on your phone, and Numbers on your computer sync and its always up to date
Avantages :
At the time I started using Numbers, you had to pay for excel from Microsoft where as numbers was free for Mac users. So I adopted Numbers and never looked back.
Inconvénients :
there was a small learning curve from excel, but it faded quickly after a while, and you start the realize Numbers might do it better
Great functionality
Avantages :
It works wonderfully as a spreadsheet should. Many options and features but is easy to navigate for even simple tasks.
Inconvénients :
I wish Numbers was web based so I could share and collaborate.

Everyone Needs Numbers
Avantages :
Integration with iPhone use by far is my favorite feature. Can tiptoe best !
Inconvénients :
Some charts are difficult to modify within template.
Spreadsheets for the rest of us
Commentaires : Numbers takes what every other spreadsheet app has been doing for over 30 years, and simplifies it to the most important features that are all that 90% of users will need. Instead of multiple ribbons, and nested menus, you have a much simpler, easier to understand and learn user interface. Yes, some functionality is missing, but for the most part, there are workarounds, or they are features you won't likely need. Numbers even does some things that Excel doesn't do, as it knows that non-number-crunchers use spreadsheets for text charts, presentations, and other things that aren't necessarily about numeric data. What's weird is that Excel has taken out some nice features that Numbers has kept! For example, I used to build a formula such as SUM, but typing = into a cell, then typing SUM( and clicking on each of the cells I wanted to add, and Excel would automatically put a + between each cell. Numbers still does this, but Excel now makes me type the + sign. I like how Numbers lets me have multiple tables on a sheet, and still lets me have multiple sheets. It works the way my brain works, instead of forcing my brain to think the way it wants me to.
Avantages :
Numbers takes the most important basic features for creating and managing spreadsheets, deletes all of the really high-end, deep accounting stuff, and makes a spreadsheet app that will make 90% of users happy. It just works, and features all of the simplicity you expect from an Apple product, while still allowing some powerful features.
Inconvénients :
If Apple would just add the "Repeat" feature, Numbers would be perfect. In Excel, one feature I often use is the ability to repeat a command: I modify one cell a certain way, then select a bunch of other cells and select "Repeat" from the Edit menu. Numbers cannot do this. Numbers also does not support a lot of the high-end features that serious number-crunchers expect: Macros, pivot tables, many of the more powerful statistical and mathematical formulas, etc. Those are features that I rarely, if ever need, so I'm OK with it. I still have and use Excel, so when I need those features, or someone sends me an Excel spreadsheet that uses them, I can still access those files.
Time-Proven System!
Commentaires : Numbers has allowed us to dive deeper and gain more clarity of our organizations' financial inflows and outflows on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis. Using numbers we've reduced our annual overheard by about 30% total over the last 2 years and increased our overall gross inflow operational efficiency by about 50% in that same time period. We are now working less, while growing our bottom line and impact in our community more than ever before... and we have Numbers to thank for this!
Avantages :
Numbers is by far one of, if not THE most, intuitive cell based analytical mathematical systems to use for personal or financial record keeping, analysis, etc. It's continued to improve year after year and the ability to insert graphs, charts, and integrate other cells and pages within the same program is uncanny!
Inconvénients :
There's now very little I don't like. previous versions of Numbers has issues linking and aligning other spreadsheets and specific cells into different sheets in different categories I had created within the program I had created for our organization. This is no longer the case, and it's actually a strength of the software now!
Numbers for Apple
Commentaires : Numbers has been usefull at times that there is no Microsoft Excel Available, due to the way that it is basically the same product, just from a different company.
Avantages :
Numbers is a software that has different features, but realisticly its the “excel” version of apple. I liked the most the connectivity it brings with all apple devices and through all aplle softwares such as the document sharing platform they have.
Inconvénients :
I liked the least about Numbers the way that it is not compatible sometimes at the moments of sending the document to a third party, meaning by this that sometimes the data gets corrupted or even it changes the physical appearance of the document, so when its opened its a completely different document.
An Excellent Free Alternative to Excel
Commentaires : Numbers is an excellent alternative to Excel, and you certainly can't beat the price tag of free! It integrates seamlessly into the Apple suite of business programs, and provides many of the same functionalities that users familiar with the Microsoft Office suite have come to expect. There are some limitations when it comes to navigation and file formatting, but those are easily forgivable when you consider this is a free option. I use Numbers often and would recommend it to anyone who is a Mac user.
Avantages :
*Similar functionalities as Excel *A wide array of functions, equations, organizational structures *An easy to navigate user interface that feels very "Apple" *It comes prepackaged free with most iMacs/Macbooks *Able to export to an .xls file if necessary for sharing with Microsoft users
Inconvénients :
*While it offers many of the same functionalities as Excel, some of the same features are organized in a completely different way, which means navigation/implementation isn't always intuitive. *While the design feels very "Apple," it can sometimes look over-simplistic for those more familiar with Excel. *There aren't as many third-party applications that recognize the Numbers default file format.
Keeps My Bills Straight
Commentaires : It really helped me, a budgeting novice, take control of my budget and to organize other projects (home repairs or other projects).
Avantages :
The reason I use this the most is for my monthly bills. I set up a spreadsheet in Numbers and then track all my spending on bills. The key to this software for me is accessibility. I can input information wherever I am utilizing The Cloud, so that means my phone, computer or even a browser on any computer by logging into icloud.com. So if I want to add a bill, edit the amount, mark it as paid, or access some other spreadsheet I can do it at my convenience. Most of the time its on my phone. It is close enough to Excel that you can learn it easily or convert files between Number and Excel. If you've never used a spreadsheet app, I think you will find it even easier than Excel.
Inconvénients :
There are some features that will take a little hunting to find at first, but some searches in the help menu or a web search will help you out on this front. It's a little tricky to use on the phone for some things, but for the most part pretty easy.
A capable Excel-alternative for the rest of us
Commentaires : It's much easier to use than the alternatives, gets you started faster and all-in-all has saved me so much time over the years.
Avantages :
Numbers is a capable Excel alternative that's easier to use, faster and produces documents / spreadsheets that are clearer, better looking and more presentable than that of the industry standard software. It covers all the basic features you could need to do anything from quick "back of the envelope" calculations to financial planning and even planning out development, cost and revenue of product development. Getting started with Numbers is by far easier than getting into Excel and it lets you be productive right from the get-go. Also, it comes free with most new Mac's purchased.
Inconvénients :
While it is a capable alternative, true "spreadsheet-warriors" will still need to rely on the table-behemoth that is Excel. It simply doesn't have all the features of Excel and it doesn't support Microsoft's .xlsx format perfectly, which means that you can't efficiently communicate and share your tables with those people who do use Excel anyway.
A Great Asset To Any Office!
Commentaires : Our office came from an all Windows based environment, and because of upgrade costs, virus issues, etc., we made the decision to convert to all Apple computers, Apple software, Apple programs, etc....Once you learn the shortcuts and "retrain" your brain to think in Apple language, it has been one of the best moves we have ever made! Thanks Apple & Thanks Numbers!
Avantages :
The greatest thing I like about Numbers is how easy it was to acclimate to it. I love how Apple has gone above & beyond to streamline all their products and services.
Inconvénients :
It definitely took a slight "learning curve" to figure out how to use it, but it was worth every minute!
The Best Spreadsheet Designer
Commentaires : Well, I use Numbers on daily basis, often I open tables that contain year long data and entries, but never faced any sort of slow down while opening such huge tables or surfing through those numerous rows and columns. Numbers is a rock solid software. Plus now it has beautiful shapes and table features which helps making documents far more gorgeous and impressive to look at. Suddenly looking at endless spreadsheets are not dull anymore. Using Numbers has been a fantastic experience.
Avantages :
The best thing about Numbers is how intuitive it is to use, for different functions like table preparation, lengthy calculations, scheduling and more. The Apple made interface makes so much sense. Another cool thing about Numbers is that it comes with a huge library of ready made templates for various purposes and all can be customised very easily. Apple keeps adding new features quite often to this software and its companion softwares like Pages and Keynote. They all have the same design layout making it easier and a compact and uniform user experience. Plus one can collaborate with distant colleagues and work together, this is as fluid and smooth like other Apple software products. One will never regret coming from Microsoft Word or Google Docs, rather one will enjoy how butter smooth and robust Numbers is in what it does.
Inconvénients :
This is one of the few softwares, where its hard to find a disadvantage. A spreadsheet software as stable and solid as Number will surely meet all the requirements of the user performing tables and calculations. If anyone is using trackpad or Apple mouse, then it will take a few minutes to get used to how the software works with gestures, otherwise there are hardly any cons in this software.
