Fantastic software!

Avantages :

Being mobile, having a cloud based software that had a professional look, inventory, matrixes and great features was essential. I enjoy working with another startup and seeing all the new features coming out.

Inconvénients :

I do seem to get glitches in the software when new features roll out but they disappear quickly. Any issues I have had that needed me to talk with support have been solved within minutes unlike my last software that never fixed the one issue I had.

Commentaires : I interviewed them and all their competitors thoroughly. The Shopmonkey sales and support are top tier and I was more demanding in my questions from my prior background as a CIO over data warehouses, analytical software, and data model designs. The SM team put my fears at ease and I was confident they had been through enough years of development to have the bugs out, but were clearly in the modern age of cloud data management and are eager to keep improving. Their other competitors were either milking an outdated system or running with errors on a newer platform.

Avantages :

It is a dream come true especially from where we were before. They have really thought out and launched enough versions by now to have covered the many features that now make my business digital and 'one version of the truth' for accountability and data management. We look professional to our customers and communicate very clearly internally now. Broad range of Automotive Shop topics are covered with this 1 license.

Inconvénients :

#1 issue is whenever some feature is not working as you hope or an improvement to a feature is requested from chat support, they put it back on you to throw it in a future product upgrade ideas pool 100% of the time even if it's behaving today as a feature defect. They should take every issue in Chat Support as an opportunity to improve and deliver it internally with a ticket number. #2 issue is their data model doesn't have a logical concept for Department. They have store location and they have Category and of the two, we split our ticket line items with Category. There is only 1 report on the whole list of canned reports I can run that splits data by Department aka Category. It would be my dream for each department manager to have a dashboard of daily reports and charts to review. It's not even appropriate to show them data from other areas of the business much less make them filter through data they don't influence. I also found it highly inappropriate from an HR perspective to list employee salaries in the User set up screen. Yes, it allows for valuable profitability reports, but salary should be granted to 1 super admin perhaps or hidden with a password to view. #3 issue is really the apps are not that great, buggy and limiting. We eventually just had Techs log into the website from a mobile phone and we gave older employees big tablets. There also should be a native language button given the Hispanics employed in this industry, but we use google translate for now

STILL DEVELOPING DO NOT WORK WITH THEM

Commentaires : I hope they do better than this. this is very sad. I have tried to work with them and even spent an entire month convincing my team we would switch to them and now i am utterly embarrassed. This company is all about grabbing people in, and once youre in they dont care about you. I run a shop with 10 employees, 30-40 cars a month. This is NOT the app for us. They are way behind and still developing as they go along. That much is clear.

Avantages :

You can create an invoice like any other app.

Inconvénients :

EXTREMELY BEHIND ON UPDATES and NEEDS TONS TONS TONS OF SUPPORT WHICH THEY DONT GIVE YOU. Try calling their support line... oh wait, they dont have one. You have to WRITE to them through the website, through a messenger app... and theyll reply when they feel like it. Kicks my employees out of the app on their phone randomly. The system for the mechanics to use is very convoluted and not easy to use.

I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SOFTWARE. It really keeps all the repair orders in order and my techs and service advisor all on the same page. As well as the customer easily being update through the software

My wife doesn’t like when i use it at home ! And they need more labor times for European vehicles Mercedes specifically but the fact they even offer labor times is a plus so really not a con

Outstanding product and the best support team!

Commentaires : Really very good! The onboarding and support team is exceptional and they really listen to what you have to say and do everything they can to get you back on track after any issues.

Avantages :

This software is the foundation that allows my business to operate. Highlights for me (running a custom van conversion shop): - Being able to speak to customers in a threaded message system with email and SMS - so good. Allows you to quickly pull up a conversation thread when the customer calls or drops in, and in an instant refreshes your memory on what you last talked about. Essential when you have many leads, and a complicated product or service where it is not straight forward and there is a lot of communication needed with the customer - The 'board' view in the workflow tab. Another great feature where you can progress customer projects from left to right in a Kanban style. Instantly see what where projects are at and triage/prioritize. - Tech time clocks. Self explanatory, but a life saver and yet 3rd party app eliminated! Techs can just clock in and clock out and it gives me as the owner, total granular detail on what projects took a long time, and where improvements need to be made - Integration with Quickbooks. As as long time small business owner, I have always loved using Quickbooks, so when I found out that Shopmonkey integrates (really well) will Quickbooks, I was very pleased. All of the front end dealings with customers can happen in SM, and then when they are all paid, it auto updates and ties everything back to QBO. Amazing! Can't recommend this product enough.

Inconvénients :

The inventory management and ease of sending out POs to vendors needs some improvement. The basics are there, but some additional functionality would be good.

Streamline shop workflow

Commentaires : Shopmonkey has saved me an average of 3-4 hours a week between streamlining my customer's sign in through use of the work request form which instantly opens up an estimate for my customer's with all of their information which I simply update in the work flow. It has also saved my estimate making time to literally a quarter of the time I used to take. It gathers all of the pricing from all of my parts providers in one single page that I didn't even know about, it brings the parts that I choose into shopmonkey and instantly applies the pricing matrix that I was using by hand to every single part. And my favorite part is that it helps us get our labor guide pricing at an instant. Estimates that used to take me about 4 hours to have to my customer are now ready in less than 5 minutes. It's a tool that has simply reduced my time at the computer so that I can focus on the cars and communicate with my customers.

Avantages :

Perfectly integrates all of the things I use into one. From parts procurement, to labor estimates to easily attaching a customer to a car with its unique identification.

Inconvénients :

My only con for this software would be the price per user cost, but the experience far outweighs this con.

Avantages :

The software is very easy to use and pretty much covers everything i need to keep up with trucks that are coming to my shop, what trucks are here at my shop, keeping up with my parts inventory and billing jobs out with ease. I am very happy with shopmonkey. Whenever i have a question or concern the chat link is always in the lower right corner of the screen with the shopmonkey team ready to help me! This is one of my favorite features! i type in my question and within a few minutes someone is chatting with me to help me figure out what it is i need to do and if that doesnt help they will call me within minutes. There is no waiting hours or until the next day for help. When adding parts to your inventory it asks for the price oyu paid for the part and then allows you to choose the % mark up you want on it. It does all the math for you which saves time. My favorite feature is being able to send invoices with the option for my customers to pay the invoice online. I am very happy and will stay with shopmonkey!!

Inconvénients :

Now for the bad....well, to be honest, there is no bad that i have found yet. Sure there are a few little things that I would like to change but heck, a lot of things in shopmonkey are editable to customize it to your liking. I have been using this software for roughly 6 months now and i am still learning. As of now, I have no complaints.

Commentaires : I'm super satisfied and I recommend this software in lots of the auto technician forums that I'm a part of.

Avantages :

It's just really set upwell to run an automotive shop. It's easy to change the parts markup for special customers, (special in a god way or a bad way). The discount feature is great. the ability to find things by whatever you can remember about the job, customer, or vehicle is great. The layout of the program is very straightforward and you can teach someone to be an expert in the program in two repair orders. If they have a question and i am busy they can just click the help button and either watch a video or ask the super friendly and helpful people in tech support. The tech support team goes above and beyond to help you. even climbing onto the RO and working with you. Honestly I've had to use tech support a few times and that's the best support I've had on any product. the software is constantly getting improved also. I really do 99% of the Ro's with no tech support because the software is so easy to use and it really speeds up my ability to get my work done quickly and get back into the shop. My customers absolutely love it. The estimate procedures are great. I feel more covered because the customers approve the job and send me the authorizations. Many of them go ahead and pay for the job when they get the estimate. (You can turn that feature off also.) I like it so I leave it on. the rates that I'm charged for the customer to pay online is very close to the rate that I would pay if they were in the office.

Inconvénients :

Really not a lot to dislike with ShopMonkey.

Commentaires : Love it! Can't stop talking about it. My wife and kids like it because I come home less stressed and exhausted, and earlier in the evening than before. They get to see me more, and have more of me when I am there because my workplace experience is so much better. Thank you Shopmonkey!

Avantages :

This is a tough one, but probably the feature I like most is the transparent, simple, clean, and professional way Shopmonkey allows you to communicate with your customers. Their system saves us time in communication, which means we can communicate better, more often, and still in less time than traditional ways of picking up a phone. Customers like being kept in the loop more, which means they call in less and feel more cared for. All in all, our customers are thrilled with the new software, and our shop office has never been more calm and available for them.

Inconvénients :

It has its fair number of glitches, but even then the development team is on it, and issues I raise flags about get addressed right away. This software is rapidly improving, so this doesn't bother me.

Commentaires : It has really made things easier for our shop. Being able to start quote/estimates and carry them through all the way to the finished invoice is great. I love the appointment reminders and how easy it is to send estimates and invoices as well as get authorization for services.

Avantages :

Firstly, they have be best customer service. Any time I needed help with anything, they were quick to respond and if they didn't have the answer they got it for me right away. Professional looking invoices that are easy to read for customers. Search functions are great. They let you look up almost anything with a few key strokes.

Inconvénients :

The price is the tough to swallow. We are a Canadian company being billed in American dollars. The exchange is killing us and making it even more expensive. The system is still really slow. I know they are working on fixes for it but some days it is so slow we can't use it. Labor rates, procedures and general vehicle information specs and other information isn't as great as they let on. There needs to be an easier function for that.

Customizable & Great for Customer Communication!

Avantages :

The customization of the system allows us to set it up to work for our own workflow, both for our fulfillment and service team. Work and updates are easily trackable. The system is also great for customer communication which is very important in all industries.

Inconvénients :

Some customization requests take longer to happen but at least the Shopmonkey team cares enough to have a feature request page where users can vote.

Excellent software for automotive related businesses!

Commentaires : With the system only being about 2 years in development, Shopmonkey has outdone other programs which have been around for many years. The owner of Shopmonkey, Ashot... has been EXTREMELY accommodating in pushing features into the app which we otherwise would not be able to function without. He literally EARNED my business. I would note that it may been under unique circumstances though. My automotive related business was a little different than their existing services which they supported. We actually do vehicle wraps and vinyl graphics for personal vehicles as well as commercial advertising. I believe that Ashot saw a need to support these features in an attempt to expand the reach of his software to include my industry. The near future for us with Shopmonkey looks extremely promising. The planned features will incorporate practically everything we could ever ask for from this app, if not more. Our shop workflow relies on this system and Shopmonkey has truly made our POS/CRM system so much more seamless. Customer interactions function directly through the app, so everything is in one place and easier to track. I am truly impressed and thankful to have found these guys.

Avantages :

This app is extremely intuitive and thoughtful. Where many apps fail on UI, Shopmonkey has excelled at providing a beautiful interface with features that make sense. The customer service is unparalleled with in-app chat, directly connecting you with the developers and Shopmonkey LISTENS... they have an amazing feedback section which allows users to post app suggestions, comment on suggestions and rate them up! Once Shopmonkey moves the features into planning or development stage, the suggestions get tagged as such and the features that were requested, actually get incorporated into the app!! Maybe not all of them, but whatever makes sense of course and whatever has the most demand.

Inconvénients :

If I had to say what I "liked the least" about the software... would be that it was still in it's early stages and still being developed. This isn't exactly a huge downfall and there are actually advantages of this like the fact that I feel we have a bit more leeway to get features we want incorporated... but.. certain features that are a bit more advanced or just plainly further down on their development roadmap, well those are just things that we have to wait for... excitedly. There 'are' negatives associated with software which is in its early steps.. some people may not be able to work with features that may be temporarily "buggy" or lacking. I personally am a "little" anal retentive with things like this... but after searching for software which was available to my industry... and using many different application "free trials"... I saw something in Shopmonkey which didn't exist with anything else I could find on the market. So, in short... the things that I like the least... are by far outweighed by the things I like about the app.

Not Suitable for Full time Repair Shops But Enough for Custom Shops

Commentaires : On a side note Customer service is really responsive and gets the job done as far as whatever is within their abilities but I feel like I should not have to contact them as frequently as I do to report as many issues with the program and hope for changes that have not happened since we started using the program. I hope things change with version 2 of this otherwise I will be looking for other options after our contract ends.

Canned services are really well managed. Customer service and other staff are responsive and helpful. Work order Management definitely saves me a lot of time on the daily

Inconvénients :

UNABLE TO PRINT INFO PROPERLYWe do a lot of head gasket repairs at our location and the fact I can't print out torque sequences for my technicians is disappointing. I understand the issue lies with MOTORDriven , the company used for labor times and information, but If I'm paying for a full-service subscription I expect to have access to everything I need. I shouldn't have to go back to Mitchell, go to first call online , or screenshot my screen and print on microsoft paint when the information is right there. DEFERRED / DECLINED SERVICESWhen its working its a great feature, it allows us to easily access previously declined services to recommend again the next time they come in. Recently for about ~2 months it has not been working properly and I have to do extra steps to get that information in a new quote, nothings going to be done about from my understanding as they are releasing a new Version of shop monkey but again I'm paying for this service I would like to have access to it. UNABLE TO LOOKUP LABOR SERVICES INTERMITTENTLYSometimes we punch in the VIN and we cannot look up labor times for anything. I unlink then re-link the vehicle no change. Start a new ticket and sometimes it will work. Pending Bug to be fixed but likely won't be addressed and Version 2 is underwayVIN LOOKUPI'm sure there are much better options out there I don't know why they stick with the one they have.UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING WHEN SYSTEM IS LAGGY / DOWNRan out of characters to continue

Insanely happy since day 1!

Commentaires : continued from 'Cons: What did you like least about this software?'... Also the amount that the customer is being charged should be forced to be typed in. Have had many situations when you are trying to get the customer out when they are in a rush and the accidental amount is fully showed "paid". Thankfully my team has caught it every time that mistake is made, but I am sure that this will soon cause issues when it is accidentally overlooked. All that simply needs to happen is that the autofill for the amount has to be removed. This will allow the user to be able to enter the information themselves properly.

Avantages :

This software makes running a shop so much easier and simpler. It helps the whole team stay on track and leaves little to no room for error or miscommunication!

Inconvénients :

There are a few "basic features" that in my opinion are no-brainers that we have already made the support team aware of. - Reports needs to be more customizable so that we can easily calculate real gross profit (the most important thing in any business) that comes into the shop and also be able to categorize it by service writer. From my understanding and from what I have seen it can only be calculated for all invoices that have been made, and not just paid invoices in the 'profitability' report. Given that everything is already tracked all we would need is a way to have a report that allows us to use every filter there is. 'Zayn' from our team has already brought this up to the support team for Shop Monkey, hopefully it will be implemented very soon. - There needs to be a way to enter in "completion dates" for each vehicle so that there can be a separate work flow for "deadlines" that are coming up along with notifications that are customizable (i.e. "notify the team 3 days before completion date", "notify the team on the day of completion date"). Already brought up to the team by Shah. - When entering in a payment and a full payment is made, there should be some kind of option so that the order goes directly into the "Invoices" section of workflow. Maybe a check box that just closes the deal. Because remembering to move it over every single time when you have a customer in front of you waiting to get you to take him / her to their car its easy to forget.

Run don't walk away from this company

Commentaires : The worst experience ever. I have been in this industry for over 35 years and used Tekmetric, Janco, Mitchell, AllData and DIrectHit to name just a few. All these companies have their own set of issues but I have never felt so unimportant or that my money/shop were not important enough to even speak to me about what my problems are. After begging to speak to someone for OVER A MONTH I am now canceling and going else where. My review will be accurate and not controlled by shopmonkey like these others.

Avantages :

The reviews were amazing and the sales department is awesome at making promises and telling you what you want to hear. However this is not what you will get. I have been calling and texting for a month about the lack of labor times on everyday repairs. I have yet to get a return call, even called sales who are always there to make money but they also promised to have someone call back that was a week ago.......

Inconvénients :

No labor times on things like engine oil coolers, transmission replacements, valve cover gaskets. If you require help from them they are quick to text but tell you it will be 2-3 days for an answer. Is your customer going to wait 2-3 days for an estimate? Not mine! That is a loss in revenue yet they charge more than others in the industry like Mitchell. You will not matter to them and they will leave you hanging.

Changed our business!

Commentaires : As a small high-performance automotive fabrication shop, we had operated for years using yellow note pads, pieces of paper and our memory. We knew we could not go to the next level without getting a computer based, QuickBooks compatible, trackable and reliable system in place. We found that in Shopmonkey! Having a team of people that are literally minutes way from a chat response is unheard of. We have asked [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] a million plus questions and they just keep coming back and asking what else they can do to make the platform work better for us. Shopmonkey has definitely given us the tools we need to take this shop as big as we can imagine! Thanks Guys!

Avantages :

Shopmonkey helps us do everything better. The ability to track tech time on each project, pull reports on labor hours per project or collectively, build and maintain what we call "active invoices" that can be shared with the customer (and receive payments & deposits) at any time during their build by email or text, great integration with QuickBooks, importing parts pricing lists from our vendors (23,000+) so we can see our costs and MAP right in the invoice, a great built in system for collecting and managing work requests right from or own website........ and on and on and on! One last very important Pro...... CUSTOMER SERVICE IS INCREDIBLE!

Inconvénients :

A combination of growing pains from moving a small "paper only" shop to a computer tracking system and a sometimes changeling process of fitting a full custom performance fabrication business into a format originally designed for more traditional automotive services. These could have been too big of a stumbling block, but as stated in the "Pros", the Customer Service Team continue to do as they promised and walk us through every step. They even work hard to modify the platform to better fit our type of shop. Do we come across glitches, sure, but they small and the team is quick to try and resolve them.

My reasons for leaving Shopmonkey

Commentaires : I didn't feel like the software was built by individuals with hands on experience in the automotive industry. Rather it was built as cookie cutter software to fit the automotive industry by trial and error at my expense. I only got phone support once I threatened to cancel my very expensive subscription.

Avantages :

Shopmonkey looks nice on the screen. At first use of the software I did not have any other shop software to compare it to. I was impressed that it was not tied down to one computer. I can use it at any computer as long as I had internet (cloud based). Once I started using it daily than the issues started to pile up one after another.

Inconvénients :

For what they charge, I was surprised how basic their system was. The Quickbooks Online integration was a mess causing accounting errors. Their reporting is very confusing and I was not easily able to track my shop's profitability . I wasn't even able to add cost of parts or labor to the order. Their electronic customer communication is hit or miss and often tiem not reaching customers.

Life got Easier and more productive

Commentaires : Our experience has been nothing but great. We are a lot more organized. We can pull up past invoices or services for warranty purposes. Very user friendly which was the main reason why I was sold to the software.

Avantages :

I am impressed how you can create an estimate, send to customers email or text. They might not approve the work that day, yet feels great when you wake up to an approved quotes that go back as far as a month or two and you can pick up where you left off with the customer and schedule them through you handheld device or able to access anywhere.

Inconvénients :

We need more parts and pricing on vintage vehicles. For example: we had a 2015 Dodge Charger 6.4 come in for lifters replacement, oddly that was not available for pricing or estimate. after 40 min of calling places and dealer, getting the part numbers and labor time rates at least we were able to create a canned service.

Commentaires : Overall excellent experience.

Avantages :

Integration with QBooks was a breeze. The workflow feature is a game changer. The development/support group are the very best in the industry. They take future features very seriously and have made it easy to recommend changes and crowd support recommendations from other users.

Inconvénients :

We would like a more powerful "Search Everything" feature, right down to parts, phone numbers, and invoice amounts. The software is expensive to begin with, so adding Canadian exchange on top is painful. The app was a long time coming and is currently in beta. Hoping that changes our iPad user experience. The biggest bugaboo we have is running Ontario plates. Nearly 50% do not return to a vehicle, and some return data is incorrect (Mazda 3 and should be a Tesla).

Commentaires : The customer service within Shopmonkey has been extremely helpful and informative. Anytime we have needed any assistance we were provided with not only helpful answers, but links to Shopmonkey's help pages with more related information, exemplar screenshots and diagrams regarding a solution to our problem/question.

Avantages :

Something we really enjoy about using Shopmonkey is that not only does it help us create automotive estimates for our customers, but it helps us understand all parts of the services being provided for the customer. Shopmonkey provides diagrams and an extensive list of the system being serviced when a service is added to an estimate which allows for us to give a more thorough explanation to the customer regarding their vehicle repairs. Shopmonkey can also be easily navigated through and we've found that even when there is a feature we cannot find or are interested in implementing, the online support chat has been extremely open to helping us find a feature or incorporating a new feature into the software.

Inconvénients :

Adding reminders for appointments for the user as well as the customer would be extremely helpful. It would be nice to have an additional confirmation if a new appointment overlaps another appointment confirming this overlap was intended or generating awareness if it was by mistake. Another feature that would be nice would be adding reminders for vehicles who may be in need of a service based on previous services. For example, if the oil was changed 3,000-5,000 miles ago a reminder that the oil may need to be changed due to the new recorded mileage would be very helpful if feesable.

Almost 2 years in and it's still making us $ weekly

Commentaires : Ive spoken with many members of the SM team, from the [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] on down. Ive yet to encounter someone whos unwilling to enthusiastically help us. Sm has make the connection from Customer>Administrative>Technician much more seamless. Our clients love the text reminders, professional quotes and ability to text us back with questions or comments. If you want ORGANIZATION of your auto business, this will do it.

Avantages :

The customer service and consistent updates of the software is def. top notch. They listen to users and their needs , provide excellent chat feedback and webinars on how to further implement the features of their software.

Inconvénients :

Currently the only con I would say is the lack of an actual phone app. However, they've told us by end of year it should be released - cant wait!

Avantages :

the option for being able to get the estimates signed and its very user friendly

Inconvénients :

when i am not able to use license plate to link the vehicle and i have to make the entire work order manually ,and reported the issue couple of times and no one is able to do nothing ,where as other software like all data also using Carfax are able to decode those same vehicles

Avantages :

Switching to this system has completely changed how we operate as a team. Making an estimate, sending to client, and collecting funds couldn’t be easier.

Inconvénients :

Being able to collect ACH and google calendar integration.
