Commentaires : Simple , Agile, On the Fly Costing

Avantages :

1. Software helps to link all the platform available i.e ERP, CFD, SAP system 2. Mode FRONTIER is another that helps to do costing for various parameters thereby helping in achieving the best optimize cost for the required parameter 3. Target Costing/ Value Tracking report helps in the New Product Development 4. Cost Insight design/reporting is another positivity for aPriori which helps to visualize for the business meeting and cost outlier analysis etc..

Inconvénients :

Required good server for the Speed in the costing the parts but aPriori has solution where they are bringing in the Web-Based Costing in near future

It is a One Size Fits All tool for Product Lifecycle

Commentaires : A great experience working in aPriori and dealing with aPriori support team who is always ready to help and support on all issues. Personally like their professional approach to resolve the issues as soon as possible.

Avantages :

aPriori gives a wide range of options in costing and analysis that is most suitable for all stakeholders during a product development or product improvement lifecycle. It is a great tool in hands of engineers to evaluate early impacts of Cost and also helps understands manufacturing limitations and design rule violations through Design to Cost feedback. Also a great tool to understand alternate design or alternate manufacturing evaluations. It is an essential tool in hands of cost engineers to understand and quickly simulate different scenarios of cost in various regions and various parameters. A great tool for Purchasing to understand the details of cost breakdown and negotiate with suppliers on arguable parameters. aPriori also provides Business Intelligence tool with Cost Insight Reporting that is very much helpful for Project Managers to keep track of the project status and cost targets. Overall, aPriori would be a great tool for any industry that is looking to excel in industry with right evaluated approach and good understanding of Cost of the product. Thank You.

Inconvénients :

There are certain process group not available in aPriori to cost such as Hydraulic Hoses, Black Box, Valves, Assembly/welding tooling etc. These processes are highly used in industries and would be essential to have in aPriori expertise.

Expert product management tool with focus Engineering

Commentaires : precise material cost simulations based on 3D CAD models, manufacturing and assembly simulations of more complex assemblies need higher amount of manual adjustment, useful out-of-the-box reports and interfaces with MS Office 365, PLM and ERP

Avantages :

professional expert software with interesting and useful reverse/cost engineering features and interfaces for diverse standard ERP and PLM software, knowledge database and training documentation

Inconvénients :

maintenance, training and customization needs higher amount of (external) expertise and resources

UI & UX Should be better with multi-tasking

Avantages :

The auto-formulated modules that are available for costing of a particular product to get Design Cost

Inconvénients :

Multi-Tasking is not available, editing name of file cannot be done, logs out automatically (need settings for that), very slow response rate most of the times (slow) even with fast internet, high loading time

3D model engine makes cost analysis faster

Commentaires : Fast and easy to use, even for design engineers or buyers. When a cost-structure is well established, it can provide the estimation for all simple mechanical components. The bulk-costing is powerful if well configured.

Avantages :

The 3D model engine can load Step parts/assemblies in seconds, recognizing the manufacturing features such as bending/drilling/machining . This makes the cost estimation automatic and much easier, comparing to other similar software on the market.

Inconvénients :

The annual subscription price is not easy to digest, even for large companies. We had to prepare a good business case to get the approval of purchase.

AGILE COSTING for this modern Technology World- Am Loving it!

Avantages :

1.Design to Cost Feature- Helps the Design Engineers to know where the cycle time is most and what need to be alter to make the machining cost optimize 2.Process set up Options, helps the Cost engineer to alter or override the feed/speed rate for the machines as per the supplier circumstances to challenge the current price with supplier 3.Interactive Reporting-Helps the reader to understand the important cost drivers and the cost components

Inconvénients :

1.Enhancement required in few Process group such as "Investment Casting", "Powder Metal" which currently is the Basic where we need more Process setup options

Commentaires : Fantastic. This is a tool that has no market competitors from a costing and Design for Cost Assessment

Avantages :

The tool is an innovation and reduces unwanted Non Value Adds while doing costing. The innovation level aPriori has achieved is unparalleled in the market

Inconvénients :

The material cost database can be refreshed more frequently given the fluctuations in material price.

Best software for Cost estimation/Should costing

Commentaires : Overall, i'm happy using the aPriori for our should cost analysis which has helped me and my team extensively in negotiation with suppliers

Avantages :

The features with respect to process routings and region wise data (MHR, labor rates etc.,)

Inconvénients :

Data refresh time needs to altered per market analysis trends (Not more than 4 months)

Commentaires : Great tool for Low mix high volume business

aPriori is a strong tool to model real world costs

Avantages :

Ability to mold software to estimate real world pricing, in order to use to negotiate better pricing or confirm that best market price has been achieved

Inconvénients :

More materials/process could be added, as our products are getting more complex, such as electronics.

Best Cost Modeling software I've used

Commentaires : Better predictability on the front end of projects, as well as cost takeouts for existing products.

Avantages :

I like the ability to model costs in numerous scenarios. I also like the ease of how some of the CAD integrated features perform operations rather easily. The ability to customize code is another great positive of this software compared to previous ones I've used.

Inconvénients :

I think more emphasis should be put on data extraction for reports. There seems to be some limitations as to how to get the information out of the system, and the out of the box reports are not sufficient. Also, in order to get better reporting ability by requiring the purchase of a third party report software (Jasper) does not seem to be an appropriate solution, given its limitations.

User friendly aPriori software feedback

Commentaires : it's great tool we almost now able to do more costing projects which is not earlier by using excel based costing ,great for making supplier based VPE it is saved lot time for quoting

Avantages :

User friendly ,Easy to mold as per XYZ company requirement ,Time Saving

Inconvénients :

DTC feature need to more in case of Fabrication and sheet metal parts for soft tools and hard tools ,accurate raw material data for pipes ,plates ,tubes etc which is more required ,time lagged need to address ,also tooling cost need to more realistic it is too high currently

Excellent Costing Tool

Commentaires : The business as usual is easier and faster with this tool. I just have to check and correct if I have other preferences in terms of process routing and that's it!

Avantages :

The support that the software is giving to the Cost Engineers is one of the most important parts of our daily work. It's easy to use, easy to understand the processes and easy to make changes in a great diversity of commodities.

Inconvénients :

There are some processes that are not shown in the customizable routing.

aPriori for me

Commentaires : I am very happy with the boost of efficiency from aPriori.

Avantages :

I really like the ability to run multiple instances that allows me to cost many parts at once.

Inconvénients :

Lots of crashing when using the batch costing macro, aPriori could not find the solution

Commentaires : Hitting project targets up front, and getting better visibility to cost throughout the organization.

Avantages :

Ease of use, with multiple out of the box processes for startup of cost modeling.

Inconvénients :

The upgrade process is a bit antiquated. I wish it were more like a Windows upgrade.

Commentaires : Some success in initiating discussions with incumbent suppliers on their cost to manufacture.

Avantages :

Detailed exploration of all the cost elements that go into the manufacture of a part.

Inconvénients :

With being a gas turbine manufacturer that procures significant quantities of raw forgings and castings, it is my experience, that as these are often times dependent on the manufacturing facility process routing, aPriori may not lend itself to accurately representing the cost of producing these raw components.

Great tool! Needs more material availability

Avantages :

Easy to use, provides great cost intelligence and tools to negotiate

Inconvénients :

Sometimes it won´t identify certain geometries that can help identify certain machining processes

I like all the capabilities of the tool and how is very easy to understand and use.

Sometimes it is hard to modify the custom routings and the custom processes.

Best way to know cost of new and production products

Commentaires : The cost of the products before starting to produce it.

Commentaires : Overall I have been extremely happy with the products and services provided by the aPriori team so far.

Avantages :

I am a member of the implementation team and have worked with many costing software packages over the years. I will say aPriori is the first company that feels like a costing partner vested in the success of our initiative rather than a costing software supplier that provides a service and then disappears.

Inconvénients :

The software is great and relatively intuitive. I believe strides could be made in the user based costing spaces to simplify costing where 3D information is not available.

aPriori an Engineers Best Friend!

Commentaires : Really nice and easy, can upload an STP file and get feedback instantly.

Avantages :

Instant feedback from design work, can make small design changes and understand the cost impact.

Inconvénients :

Doesn't cover every production type in as much detail as others, would be great to get a heatmap of cost to manufacture for injection moulding.

cool but not usefull for quoting process

Commentaires : We are not able to utilize aPriori in our quoting workflow due to the lack of correlation with provided quotes.

Avantages :

It is easy to use but requires some training to be proficient

Inconvénients :

We were never able to correlate estimates generated by aPriori compared to actual quotes provided by our suppliers. So it is essentially useless as a quoting tool.

Commentaires : Very good for simple production processes. More complex production process under evaluation.

Avantages :

Fully automated solution with accurate estimates

Inconvénients :

Not so easy to customize to your company personal needs

Tradeoffs and Benchmarking

Avantages :

The software makes it readily apparent to the designer the cost of design features or requirements before you receive the final quote from our suppliers. The software helps you understand the cost drivers for your particular part so when you send your design out for quoting you can tell if the bids are the best or if further refinement is needed.

Inconvénients :

It takes time... you have to really dig into the details of your part and translate that into the software and that is time consuming. If there was a way to streamline that process it would get more traction.
