En savoir plus sur Trados Studio
Gestion terminologique, mémoire de traduction, traduction automatique, fonctionnalité de correction automatique et de suggestion automatique et plus encore.
It covers all the standard bases as well for a modern CAT tool, and is usually the only CAT tool you'll see fully integrated in other translation project management tools or TMSs.
There's no Auto-save feature. If the software became unresponsive or PC suddenly went off for any reason, all work done will be erased and couldn't be recovered.

Flexible tool that still requires improvements
Commentaires : I am using SDL Trados since 2008 and I am overall happy with it. Every time, though, they launch a new version it takes a couple of months until their version gets stable and doesn't crash any more.
Avantages :
It has several useful functions, a good quality assurance process, it is easy to install and maintain.
Inconvénients :
It is crashing frequently, it gets slow when you handle large files, it lacks some functionalities other CAT-Tools offer.
Practical but too expensive
Commentaires : This software helped me to build my own private translation memory and made the translation process easier, faster and more accurate.
Avantages :
The software is widely used by translation agencies and it's well known between professional translators and this is making it easy work with. Translation memory could be transferred smoothly between translation agencies and translators and the same could be done between translators themselves. The interface is easy to understand and many useful features are included to help translators doing a good job.
Inconvénients :
There's no Auto-save feature. If the software became unresponsive or PC suddenly went off for any reason, all work done will be erased and couldn't be recovered. The software is too expensive.

One of the best Computer Assisted Translation tools

Avantages :
Complete professional translation environment
Inconvénients :
- Documentation - Such features as term extraction cost extra

From work horse to elephant, from elephant to dinosaur
Commentaires : Our overall experience with Trados Studio is that it is a tool that is hard to master. We think that at some stage no love was put any longer into this tool.
Avantages :
We use this software because we have to. We're a translation company and our clients ask us to use this tool. They made an investment in Trados Studio years or even decades ago and they are reluctant to change. There is nothing really we like about this tool. However, we have to use it daily.
Inconvénients :
Trados Studio was first launched at the end of the 1980s. For years, they had not serious competitors. When other players entered the market, Trados added more and more features related to Project Management, QA , Resource management etc. It`s hard to combine all this into one tool and here are some thoughts for Trados (owned by the RWS group these days) to right the ship: 1. Adding/fixing tags is totally unintuitive. They cannot just be copied and pasted. It´s important to know that many translators are having to deal with 10 (ten) translation tools in a typical work week - and nobody these days bothers to read user's manuals. You expect the software to work as you think it should. Just like when you hire a car: You don't read the user's manual. 2. The QA is so compley and cumbersome that it should be overhauled immediately. In fact, most of our clients are asking us to do the QA using Xbench, Verifika etc. 3. Handling multiple files can be difficult and cause Studio to crash. If you have a software project with 100 files, which is not uncommon, opening and saving these files takes a very long time. Other tools handle this much better. 4. The Freelance version (which I think is around 600 EUR) only handles 5 languages. The Professional version, which allows all languages, package creation etc., is 1000 EUR. I think that's too expensive. Adding to this, there no monthly subscription scheme, probably pushing many translators into pirate software.

Not the best CAT tool in the market
Commentaires :
You better think of that if you consider implementing this system in your enterprise:
You definitely need to train your employees on it, it's not an easy to use App, it needs training and the courses about this software is an industry itself and I see that a weakness not a strength point.
Avantages :
I give the software that it is really accepting (nearly) all formats you perhaps need to use in your works in localisation and translation industries.
Inconvénients :
the cost of software is very high, it slows the computer (if you don't have a one with enough computing power) you feel like installing a heavy-software like photoshop! although you are dealing (or that just me?) just with texts. the UI are crowded, very crowded (when I using it I remember that I don't need a lot of its features)
Alternatives envisagées précédemment :
3year experience
Avantages :
Compatibility with different files as well as creating and maintaining TMs
Inconvénients :
Split files and assign to different translators proofreaders etc. Obligatory updates from Trados 2014 to 2019 for example. Price-point
TRADOS IS THE BEST TRANSLATION TOOL
Commentaires : I translate always with Trados, I use Google Cloud. Now Aritifical Intelligence developeed.
Avantages :
It saves from repetitions, it uses Memories, Machine Translation
Inconvénients :
Its startup is sluggish though I naised memory to 16 mB RAM. It would be better to load after full openinğ.

One of the first but competitors caught up...
Commentaires : I have mixed feeling about the product. It took me years to really accept it until the industry made it almost mandatory to use it and I had to learn how to use it.
Avantages :
It has many likeable features which are updated frequently and work very well.
Inconvénients :
Sometimes the software is hard to use and you need special training to understand and use the product.
Industry leading quality
Commentaires : Overall a very good translation solution, although a bit pricy since the new tarifs.
Avantages :
It can handle big translation memories, is multifunctional for almost any type of text or format.
Inconvénients :
It sometimes has a bug, is not always straightforward to use, as it requires time to understand all of its functions. The price...
popularity costs money
Commentaires : I'll summarise it short - experience is really good. If there's anything bad, then it depends only on our, translators, mood :)
Avantages :
I, as a translator, would say it's the most popular tool among translators. So you can trust - it's legit. Another advantage - you can translate almost any kind of text thanks to Trados. Besides, it available for companies, or for individuals. Quick to install.
Inconvénients :
Since it's legit and so popular, sure you must pay for it. Good things cost money. I don't want to say it should be for free, but a bit less. {on the contrary, to myself- if the company wants to keep the high quality of the programme, it has to pay all the IT specialists who work on it}. Another thing - if you want to start to use it on your own, you really have to read, watch and do everything else to understand how to use it properly.
A must-have if you are a professional translator. But it has small bugs and could be easier to use.
Commentaires :
It's a great and necessary tool for professional translators.
However, it's expensive and still has some minor bugs that simply shouldn't be there, given the fact we are talking about a leader from its industry with so many years of expertise involved.
Avantages :
If you are or intend to be a professional translator, you must have a CAT Tool. And when it comes to CAT Tools, Trados Studio is the biggest reference. It's pricey and you may think it's too much money to invest in a software. Well, if you work full-time with translations, it will pay off! It makes your job so much easier, faster and more consistent that you will catch yourself adding even very small files to your Trados prior to translate, just to make sure you can benefit from your own Memory Translation and Quality Check tools. In addition to all those pros, it's important to mention that it's a reference in this industry, so if you are willing to work for translation agencies, they will eventually ask if you have a valid Trados license and start sending your Trados projects, instead of a .xls or .doc file.
Inconvénients :
In spite of all the advantages and pros of using Trados for work, it still has some bugs that really bother the user. My Trados will crash and close at least once a day or every two days. Fortunately, since all translations are copied string by string to my MT on the go, these crashes normally do not cause me to lose any job, but it's still an annoying waste of time to re-open the software every time. It is not so straightforward as it could be when you want to add a new file to a project or do some other actions on it. After all, it’s one of those incredible powerful tools that you will take time to master (and, after 4 years working with it, I still discover new functions every month, feeling that those could be clearer and easier to be seen/found).
Powerful tool with a steep learning curve
Commentaires : Trados Studio is the business standard which means it that it's a must-have for any professional translator. It is difficult to learn, and never ceases to frustrate, but, overall, it can be the only tool you really need.
Avantages :
This software is standard within the translation business and therefore a must-have for every professional translator. The software can be very powerful once you have learned to master it.
Inconvénients :
The learning curve is very steep, the user interface is counter-intuitive, bordering on byzantine. Even for power users with many years of use, this software never ceases to confuse. The development has stalled, which means that competing software is now just as good, or better, but Trados Studio is still a must-have due to its ubiquity.
An essential software for every translator
Avantages :
Thanks to this software I really spare time during my work. I can work faster, provide a better overall quality and consistency to my customers. It's easier to use and more complete than other CAT-tools. If you'll try it, you'll never leave it!
Inconvénients :
Some add-ons should be improved or simplified.
Review about SDL Trados Studio
Commentaires : I like it very much. I use it in my everyday working process, actually I don’t see myself without it.
Avantages :
It really speeds the working process, and helps keep consistency of similar documents.
Inconvénients :
The only minus is the pricing, and that there are many update also to be purchased.
Excellent software for translators
Commentaires : A leading programme on the market for translators. A real must-have. Exceeds all CATs known to me so far.
Avantages :
Ease of use Compatibility Popularity
Inconvénients :
Speed Size
Some problems
Commentaires : I've been using this software since more than 3 years and despite it's considered the best program for translators, I don't agree as I lost my job because it crashed. However I can see it has interesting features, like suggestions of already translated words/sentences.
Avantages :
This software has a feature wich gives you some suggestions about the words and sentences you have already translated.
Inconvénients :
It happened several times that I lost my job because the program crashed and I could not recovered.
Wide opportunities to overcome the language barrier for any specialist
Avantages :
In everyday situations I use this program. It is imperfect, but it gives a better result than the translators from Google. I am pleased with the simple interface and nice design. At the same time, the program has good functionality and remembers the previous translation (it allows inserting already finished pieces at full or partial coincidence).
Inconvénients :
Translation is imperfect, as in any other automated translation system. I would like to improve the translation of the artistic text.
It's a great product but pricy.
Commentaires : It is a good product. It changed my life. I increased my productivity. It has a lot of settings allowing to adjust it perfectly to my needs.
Avantages :
It works offline. No need for Internet connection. Sometimes that is very important. Great functionality.
Inconvénients :
If TM is huge, it is necessary to have powerful PC.
Useful CAT tool
Commentaires : Terminology bank for clients.
Avantages :
Fairly easy to use if you only do simple Word document translations. Pretty straightforward. Tags are easy to insert.
Inconvénients :
Doesn't format as well as other CAT tool and the free version has a limit of terms it can store per client.
One of the flagships of translation/localisation industry coming at quite a cost
Avantages :
Seamless TM integration from multiple projects Connection to external translation engines QA features
Inconvénients :
QUITE costly, especially considering the growing pressure from similar free/conditionally free online products
Wasn't able to Successfully Implement It
Commentaires : I do freelance translation. I typically work with manually scanned documents and faxes, where something like Trados or another CAT tool is not helpful. However, a larger company asked me to consider Trados in order to complete a specialized project with them, and I agreed. After spending many frustrating hours trying to successfully complete operations within Trados, I gave up and cancelled the contract with the company. Perhaps in the future, while working with someone who knows Trados well, I might have some success with it. But, as it is, I wasn't able to get any useful work out of it.
Avantages :
The biggest pro that Trados has going for it is the number of companies that require the use of Trado in order to do translation work for them.
Inconvénients :
It isn't intuitive and is not easy to use.
The perfect tool for working with other translators and translation companies.
Commentaires : Really good for working with/for other companies, sharing TMs and making accurate budgets or calculating estimates because you can see how much you work and how many words or segments were new.
Avantages :
Its abundance in features to simplify and accelerated a translator's work is the best thing about. How you can file any segments, languages, terminology used, fields within languages, etc. And you can actually measure and see your productivity, wordcount, etc., while you are working on each project.
Inconvénients :
It takes a while to get the hang of it and to effectively benefit from all its features. Several tutorials where needed.
Makes Language Services Accessible
Commentaires : Overall ok because the software is designed for people who translate lengthy works regularly not those who may need to translate infrequently (making price too costly).
Avantages :
The software is reputed and very popular in the language services industry. The translation capacity is very large allowing fast translation of long articles.
Inconvénients :
Word banks that are stored in the memory can be improved as well as the overall accuracy of common languages. Human proofreading is still essential to accurate translation and I would like to see better prices for users who don't need to run the software frequently.
Easy-to-use tool that helps you to speed up your work!
Commentaires : One of the main characteristics a good translator needs is consistency in terminology. This tool allows me to be very consistent in my translations.
Avantages :
Being a frequent user of CAT tools, I may say that one of the best features of this software is its Translation memory. I do not need internet to complete my translations.
Inconvénients :
Uploading some document formats makes it tedious and time-consuming. Price is a little too high when compared to what you get in exchange.
Not as good as I thought it was.
Commentaires : No good at all for me. I find it confusing and not easy to use.
Avantages :
I did not like much actually. I had great expectations but in the end I was a bit frustrated.
Inconvénients :
It is confusing. I expected much from the product as it is very popular. But the price is way too high and what it offers is not something we can`t find in other similar products.
