High praise for Fluxx

Commentaires : Improved customer service and access to grant documents for our subrecipients.

Avantages :

There are so many options to customize features and functionality to meet the unique needs of your specific organization.

Inconvénients :

Limited training seats were available with the implementation package, and purchasing additional training seats is a bit expensive. Due to the level of customization the trainings did not always meet the needs of our organization. It would also be helpful to have access to training manuals versus the videos and limited slides that can be downloaded for reference.

CFSEM Fluxx Review

Commentaires : The experience with iNet when we implemented in 2019 was less than ideal. After handing over the reigns to us, and we learned the administrative backend on our own, we quickly realized that the initial build of Fluxx was already unsustainable in the way it was structure. The documentation that was provided was less than ideal and was very little help. The training was also miserably lacking, as our whole staff would likely agree on. Fluxx was a step forward for us, as we have been using a legacy system may decades old, but the longer we used it, the more issues cropped up. The more I learned in the admin panel, the more I realized that the current setup was unsustainable and would eventually require a complete rebuild if we were to remain. We got very little help with that issue (about unsustainability) and little to no advice from Fluxx on how to proceed. We are getting by today, but as we add more programming we continue to struggle to fit things in our current setup. Not only is the setup an issue, the persistent issues with existing functionality, the bugs that arise and take a year to get fixed. Its been frustrating to say the least.

Avantages :

That it's cloud based, and helped our organization modernize.

Inconvénients :

The service, hands down. It takes days and weeks sometimes for tickets to be responded to. We've had tickets open for years that impact the usability and administration of the system. Tickets sent to engineering get lost in the void so much that its a common jest among the Fluxx user communities. I often have to reach a point of frustration where I am emailing our Fluxx representative before movement is made. And still, most often the response is that 'its with engineering'.

Fluxx Grantmaker for Non-Profit Grantmaking

Commentaires : We open requests for proposals continuously throughout the year, and have about 200 active grants at any time. Fluxx is able to scale with our needs quite well. While building new functionality in Fluxx requires a technical learning curve, we've had good luck with Fluxx service support.

Avantages :

The degree of customization, as well as customer service and support for Fluxx are strong selling points.

Inconvénients :

Using the admin panel to customize Fluxx features requires a fair amount of training. I was worried about this initially, but found that Fluxx has several options to provide user training and/or consultation.

Excellent Grants Management System

Commentaires : Overall Fluxx has transformed the way we do grantmaking. We are seamless in our workflow among staff. We no longer are reliant on just the grants management team to keep the process moving along. As our organization keeps evolving and we move toward trust-based philanthropy, we can constantly adapt our grantmaking through Fluxx. Our grantees can log in to their accounts to see their proposals, reports, payments, and past grants. The customer support from [sensitive content hidden]
is hands down the number one reason why we would recommend Fluxx!

Avantages :

The platform is very user-friendly for both our staff and grantees. Fluxx is very customizable for our organization's workflow. Since it's cloud based, we can access our data anywhere, anytime, unlike our previous GMS which was hosted onsite. We have been able to build LOI, single-stage, two-stage, RFPs. The customer support from [sensitive content hidden] is unbelievable!! We also switched from hard copy paper files to being completely paperless and Fluxx has helped us achieve this by creating auto emails and letters.

Inconvénients :

The customization in the admin panel requires some degree of programming knowledge, which has been a learning curve. But the fundamental digest and general discussion posts are helpful as well as the training provided. I download reports to excel since they do not generate so pretty. Then I manipulate the data and configure the appearance.

We made the right choice

Commentaires : We made the right choice for our Trust in choosing Fluxx for our grants management. It's reliable, generally easy for grantees and staff to use after little training, and we can count on the data being right. The visibility of applications, grants, and payments though every workflow stage is easy to navigate and brilliant.
The generation of outcome emails and letters has been a major timesaver over our previous system. We find the Fluxx staff very supportive, and interested in product suggestions.

Avantages :

Both grantees and staff find Fluxx easy to use and it is quick to learn. Grantees particularly like that several Trusts in New Zealand use Fluxx so they are familiar with the system and how to use it. Staff like that we can see applications while they are still in draft. When a grantee gets stuck we can see where they are struggling with their application, and help them through it. The system has very few outages and the 'Fluxx community' is a great resource for trouble shooting.

Inconvénients :

Some of the non-configurable fields and forms are not overly intuitive for grantees or staff. The log in screen is a good example. The existing users signing in on the left of the screen, and the instructions for new users on the right is a good example. New users often attempt to make up a username and password rather than read the instructions on the right. This layout can not currently be changed. Where multiple select dropdown lists are used the data export is not in a format that enables easy reporting. This makes reporting and impact measurement a little cumbersome.

Great for customization

Commentaires : Overall, I enjoy using Fluxx and have found it easy to use after being trained and having been the administrator for a while. Now that I understand how the system works, it's easy to troubleshoot and customize features to our needs. However, for new users on the grantee and employee side, it can be a bit tricky to figure out. There are certain features that I wish could be improved, like financial reporting, reporting out on impact, and types of data collection.

Avantages :

As the admin user of Fluxx, I like all the customization features of Fluxx that allows us to create a grant application that perfectly matches what we want to collect. The ability to customize applications and reports as an admin user is great, and I like the independence of using the system without needing technical support from Fluxx. The same goes for troubleshooting issues - the admin panel is overall easy to understand after you have been trained and used it for a bit.

Inconvénients :

The reporting features or methods of measuring impact data are not as strong as I would like. In order to learn more about our grants, we have to either do an excel export manually or create an AdHoc report to show data. AdHoc reports are a bit tricky to set up, and still end up in an excel format instead of a summary card on Fluxx. I would like a better way to report on grants, and share reports or impact data with leadership at my organization. Fluxx is also not easy for all to understand if users are not tech-savvy. It might benefit from working through some kinks and being a little more user friendly on the grantee side.

Fluxx Review by New Grant Making Organization

Commentaires : We started an ambitious re-granting program to provide access to funds for local organizations throughout the state. Through this program, smaller organizations can apply for grants up to $50,000. We knew how we wanted the re-granting program to work, but we were extremely green when it came to applicable software and data management. I was brought on as the Grant Program Manager after the decision was made to go with Fluxx and I couldn't be happier. After a small issue with our initial contact at Fluxx, we were reassigned Kris Tan as a project manager. The rest of the process went very smoothly. Kris was extremely attentive to our needs and coached me through learning the software and building our initial instance. I had little background in software applications and after going through the tutorial and practicing (this was key!) I feel completely comfortable as the site administrator, even to the point that in the last three months, I was able to completely re-engineer our workflow and build new application forms. Although Fluxx set everything up for us pre-launch, we decided to reconfigure our instance after learning some tough lessons during the first grant cycle. Overall, Fluxx was pleasant to work with and guided us step-by-step through the build, implementation and any support we needed.

Avantages :

- Support from Fluxx team ----They are very responsive when submitting support tickets. A member of Fluxx support team usually responds within the hour. - Easy to make changes to forms, workflow and landing page - adaptability of software and converting data easily into an excel sheet - Filtering of Cards. We have multiple cycles of grants occurring at all times. I can easily filter which cycle I want to focus on by filtering the cards. This allows me to be organized and "remove" applications by filtering them out of the card without actually losing any applications. - Multiple warnings if you decide to delete a record in the system -Fluxx also gives you a pre-production site to test all of your solutions before implementing on the live site. -The Fluxx Community site is a great resource for problem solving and asking experienced users if they have ever encountered a particular situation before.

Inconvénients :

-Card re-load times are occasionally slow, but I have never had a problem with the site crashing.

Works but definitely areas for improvement

Commentaires : At our Foundation's basic level, the system enables us to do what we need to do -- store grant data and enact a workflow to award grants and approve payments.

Avantages :

As an end user, it's easy to make way through the system and see/do what you need to do.

Inconvénients :

Reporting is tedious, hard to get the data (or even find the data -- backend name and knowing all the right parameters) that you want. Having so much of the information available it s challenge bc it's overwhelming. Data manipulation/filtering is not easy. A novice user can't easily create a report, so there's a dependency on others to do it for them. Also feel like I need to really learn liquid language to make effective administrative changes. Would be nice to have more end user friendly ways for administrative maintenance.

All-in-one grantmaking solution

Avantages :

Before Fluxx we had a different system for each program application, it was very inefficient and difficult to manage. Fluxx has given us means to streamline and improve our application intake process. The software is highly customizable and we have been able to optimize application intake, reviews, and internal and external reporting.

Inconvénients :

I think the registration process could be improved, there isn't an effective way to match existing organizations so each registration request is currently processed manually. It's time consuming but only way to keep our Organization data clean.

Commentaires : I like that I can use it from anywhere as long as I have an Internet connection. The complaints about the search capabilities have been ongoing for many users. It's fine for what it is, but I’m not a fan of its business model of wanting users to become self-sufficient and knowledgeable. It's no accident that larger foundations using Fluxx have hired former Fluxx staff to maintain Fluxx at their foundations. That's not an option for everyone. I am not a programmer, nor do I wish to become one, so I'm frustrated with the lack of customer support.

Avantages :

I think it serves its purpose and functions as it's supposed to so we can manage our grant records. I don’t love it and I don’t hate it.

Inconvénients :

Lack of search options. Straight forward field names. Convoluted filters. Fluxx is not always intuitive for new users, and many staff have a difficult time finding what they need. Many features are limited and unless we get creative they do not lend themselves to automation.

Avantages :

Fluxx Grantmaker is a feature-rich, "one-stop shop" platform for grant-making organizations. It gives organizations the ability to store, organize, and retrieve critical data pertaining to applicants, grant requests, awards, due diligence, compliance, payments, and much more. The system has seemingly unlimited features that enhance the organizations' ability to organize and leverage data. If you want a feature, Fluxx almost definitely has it or can provide a workaround to get it.

Inconvénients :

The number of features and scale of the platform are the primary challenges of using the system. The sheer number of settings and options almost necessitates an organization assign or develop an in-house expert who can maintain the system.

Avantages :

Continuous evolution, incorporating improvements such as upgraded reporting capabilities, better user interface, integration with NetSuite, we've been able to develop comprehensive training programs, and enhanced tools like Grantelligence, all of which collectively enhance grant management efficiency and decision-making processes that we never had before.

Inconvénients :

The initial site performance issues, which were addressed through regular maintenance with Fluxx, and the need for extensive compliance warnings due to upgrades, which although necessary, required additional attention to ensure smooth implementation to our system. In the end, the improvements and customization made a big difference.

I've noticed that creating and pulling various ad-hoc reports requires a substantial amount of time and testing before arriving at the intended outcome, for example, I have pulled reports where the currency symbols do not pull into the report or fields that have been changed or updated pull in the old data or a mix of the old and new data.

Great grants management software

Commentaires : Fluxx is very well received at our office. It's easy to use, hence the transition was smooth and people got used to it quite quickly. People appreciate the fact that Fluxx allows them to easily manage their daily work and track progresses of an application or grant. We still need to learn how to better work with the system for data reporting and data analysis, but so far it helps us greatly in managing our grants.

Avantages :

Everyone at our office loves the interface and how Fluxx allows you to personalize your screen according to your needs. It's very easy to (re)configure the system, for a relative young organisation which is still (re)adjusting its processes, the flexibility is highly important. We enjoying the (growing) user community and benefit a lot from the community-driven feature developments.

Inconvénients :

Some features still have minor glitches. This said, there are work-arounds and Fluxx is usually quick in addressing these. Reporting is already quite useful the features allowing for complex reporting with drill-down possibilities could be improved. We have demand for higher standard of security and further segregation of permissions.

Fluxx - Good and getting better

Commentaires : My company have been using Fluxx for several years as our main grant management system. I am relatively new to the system having only used it for 6 months, but it is intuitive and user friendly and within a few short months I was able to use the system as well as those that had been using it for much longer.

Avantages :

The support offered by Fluxx is second to none. Whether it is a quick user query or a request for new forms to be built, requests are always dealt with swiftly. There is also a huge database of self help documents which give you detailed breakdowns of how to use all elements of the system. Both of these coupled with the Fluxx community which allows you to ask questions and have discussions with not only Fluxx administrators, but other Fluxx users, means you are never far away from an answer to any question. The system is constantly being updated with new additions added all the time. These additions are often based on user feedback so if there is something that you would like to see added don't be afraid to ask.

Solid & Versatile Grantmaking Platform

Avantages :

Fluxx is such an easy product to use and it lifts so much of the burden off of foundation grant admins and grant applicants. Crowdsourcing techniques through the Fluxx community is a wonderful way to innovate our work.

Inconvénients :

There are slow downs from time to time and I wish there would be quicker support to resolve bugs.

Commentaires : As a Fluxx administrator for my organization, I have found Fluxx to be very user friendly, easily customizable, and advanced enough to meet broad organizational needs beyond mere grants management. Fluxx has found a way to meet the modern branding and aesthetic aspects without sacrificing the legal and operations compliance and due diligence needs of the organizations they cater to. I have used three different grant management systems during my career and have been most satisfied with Fluxx.

Avantages :

I like the organization's people capacity, those who are working behind the scenes to make Fluxx happen, and the customization features.

Inconvénients :

The extensive glossary of terms that can be used for filtering. Perhaps offering customizable options depending on a specific organization's needs.

Commentaires : Very positive experience so far. Configuring it from scratch can be a bit of a challenge but not unlike any other system.

Fluxx has excellent customer service and support.

Avantages :

The ease of use and functionality. The fact that we can now screen applicants to ensure eligibility before application submission is great. Reviewing is simpler and faster than our old methods.

Inconvénients :

The reporting feature needs some improvements but I am also still learning and the customer service team is always willing to help.

Each organization has the potential to access different layout options, allowing an organization to preserve their unique branded identity even within this external grant management software.

Inconvénients :

Options for customization can allow grant-makers to create multiple "streams" of questions, with questions appearing later on in the application depending on one's earlier answers, which allows great flexibility but can add complications and even confusion for grant-seekers who prefer to prepare their application in word processing software ahead of time, then upload their application all at once.

Great features - not user friendly

Commentaires : We are granted grants from orgs that use Fluxx Grantmaker. From the receiving end, it is not the best software to have to navigate but it does ensure that we don't miss any necessary documents or deadlines by showing us all tasks associated with each grant we were awarded.

I like what you are able to do with this software. We get assigned tasks from the administrator and can complete them online. It ensures we don't miss any deadlines by sending reminder emails. I also like that you can submit your payment requests on Fluxx.

Inconvénients :

The website itself is not the easiest to navigate. There are multiple tabs and often tasks can seem hidden if you don't know how to get to that specific page

Avantages :

It is user friendly Provides filter function so that users can select what are the most relevant information to them

Inconvénients :

It doesnt have modern interaction mechanism It has no more cons that i can think about at this moment
