Avantages :

I love the fact that my clients and I can share the same system in different locations. It also has an app that I can use on the go for invoicing and quotes.

Commentaires : Unfortunately my experience was poor. I loved their desktop program and really wanted to love their cloud solution just as much.

Avantages :

I love cloud solutions and the reports from this would have been nice.

Inconvénients :

I was hit with what seemed like every road block as I tried to switch from my Sage Desktop program into their cloud program. Customer Support was lacking and I ended up joining a Facebook support group of other accountant/bookkeepers making a similar switch. In the end I had to make the decision to let it go or loose my productivity.

Commentaires : We replaced Sage50 with Sage200, and also Sap B1 was migrated to Sage200, with the help of Sage partners at TN4 this was a relatively pain free migration in all cases, and they all worked well to meet our timescales and requirements, as well as helping us find other partners to integrate Sage200 with other related solutions such as barcode scanning, shipping, and MRP solutions that are not in Sage out of the box.

Avantages :

This software does everything a small, medium or relatively large sized business would need. The backend database is SQL server, so it's fast and well structured, and we found lots of modules and external products integrate well with it.

Inconvénients :

Implementation and training needed external consultants to do it at scale and at speed. The licence model is per user, so as soon as you start adding quite a few employees the cost of running the software gets rather pricey, though it's comparable to SAP B1 for example. We used our own servers to host the application and database, and although it's called "cloud" it's really not, but perhaps in the future.

Great accounting product

Commentaires : I am using Sage almost on a daily basis. It is easy to use and not very complex to learn all the features. I use it for invoicing, employee payments and spending ledgers.

Avantages :

I like the fact that you can easily reconcile transactions, especially if you connect bank accounts to Sage. Also the invoicing system is very easy to use. Reports can also be generated for various data.

Inconvénients :

I think the overall security at the Login screen is lacking advanced features. I would like to see more secure option added such as 2 factors auth or similar. It is a cloud service and Sage should invest more in securing the credentials screen.

Abysmal software and customer service experience

Commentaires : It appears as though Sage panicked when Xero and other cloud providers appeared in their market and so they rushed out a poor bit of software. They haven't developed it and so it is a long way behind its competitors, with basic functionality missing and a poor user interface. I have also had several problems with basic features (link the bank feed) which they have no idea how to resolve. The customer support experience is also the slowest and most painful experience I have ever come across from a SaaS provider. It is telling that they are slashing their prices at the same time Xero is able to raise theirs!

Avantages :

The only two good parts of the software are the discounted price and it clearly shows you how long until the end of your VAT period.

Inconvénients :

Unreliable Very little development in the 6 years I have used it Slow to do basic tasks The interface isn't user-friendly There is no way to take a back up your data The customer service is slow - typical experience is 20+ min wait for live chat, no response to emails and 15+ wait for phone support (on a premium rate number)

Commentaires : First of all i had no accounting software, no quoting and invoicing software. so this just makes my document presentation just that much more professional looking. also i only have to do the basic, and it does the rest for me.

Avantages :

As a non accounting person, i found this software to be just what the tax man ordered in terms of financial accountability features. it's so easy and and intuitive to use, i was able to get started on the first day and even issued a quote to a client.

Inconvénients :

well, i had trouble linking my business bank account to the software, but that could be the bank...

the price is very high, the company need to be bigger to be able to pay this software, the customer service is not very good in the it section, they are accountants.

From AutoEntry to sage accounting to sage final accounts. I like the bank feed within sage accounting - all time saving.

Inconvénients :

Bulk nominal changes would be a good addition. Otherwise I have to go into each individual invoice

Comparable Systems Cost Much, Much More

Commentaires : Built on the Salesforce platform so it can handle any number of users. Sage has initially targeted the small business segment with Live, however it is just as good for mid-market or enterprise. Consider the following features: Capable of handling 1-1000+ users.
SAAS (hosted and browser-based) so no software to install. No server needed.
Multi-Company consolidation
Inter-Company transactions
Dimensional accounting
Multi-Currency
Multi-Language
Purchase Requisition/Approvals and Workflow
Easy setup but can be configured as complex as you want, it's a very open database if you choose to use it that way
Open API, integrates with many other web-based apps
Well integrated with SalesForce
Tablet and iPhone/Android apps
These types of features are typically only available in enterprise level software like Intacct, Acumatica, Financial Force, X3, NetSuite, Oracle or SAP. You won't find this in Quickbooks, Freshbooks, Xero, Sage 50 or any other entry-level system. There's always been Microsoft Dynamics, Sage 100/300/500, Epicor, Infor and others, but those aren't true cloud based/browser based systems, nor are they inexpensive. What's unique about Sage Live is that they've priced it to be affordable for most companies - starts at monthly for 2 users and 1 company. 2 users and 100 companies is only $$$d/month. That is ridiculously less expensive than the other enterprise level systems out there. You can certainly use Sage Live as a small business, but the nice thing is that as you grow you can stay on the same system and not feel the need to change. If you are a mid-sized or large company, you owe it to yourself to take a look at Live before you make a decision on spending lots more money for perhaps the same thing.

Inconvénients :

It has only been around for 3 years, so it's not as fully developed as some more mature offerings out there. They are adding new stuff all the time but you might find some features missing that you are used to.

Avantages :

This software was extremely easy to set up and provides excellent access for multiple users. Date entry is very simple and less repetitive than other software I've used. The online chat feature is excellent for solving simple problems or getting help when you cant find what you need in the available online resources.

Inconvénients :

Two things need attention. One is the ability for a charity to set up HST receivable in a simpler manner. The other is the ability to contact someone to solve a problem. Support is managed through online chat and it is very difficult to speak to a live person. I've had an issue caused by a glitch in the system and have been unsuccessful in solving the issue for the past 9months.

From Sage Instant to Business Cloud

Commentaires : Used everyday and very useful for my business and obvioulsy for my cleints too.

Avantages :

Yes I have to admit it the cloud option is very useful, not having to keep track of versions and installing etc. Very useful to share data with clients.

Inconvénients :

Still some features i would like and have become used to in Sage 50, like Gross to Net and Copying lines above but sure they will come.

Almost has 100% of what we need as a growing business

Avantages :

User-friendly interface. Good dashboard view. Collaboration with external agencies - HMRC, our accountant & book-keeper. Functionality has increased alongside our needs as a growing business. Cost-effective Excellent customer support

Inconvénients :

No trace-ability of emails sent - only a Yes or No view of whether emails (invoices) have been sent. Cannot export XL data to our Pension portal (Big booooo for the Sageone!) No auto-generation of a reference number for purchases like there is sales?! This causes us issues!! Only 1 user allowed to access Payroll platform for our subscription

Does accounting as it should be

Commentaires : Easy enough to use.

Avantages :

As an online accounting system (enterprise) it does what any company and industry would need. You can configure it based on your company processes, but the reason you would want to use this, is that they have streamlined the process that you can adapt to, instead of the other way around. Why re-invent the wheel?

Inconvénients :

Too proprietary. You must go through their accredited vendors to do most of the modifications and reports, unless you train and really go deep.

Commentaires : It is great. During the lockdown period it has carried us.

Avantages :

It's on cloud, you can access it anywhere. Hardly experience downtime. We were informed when the system was down. They were busy with upgrades. It has very good and user friendly, built-in reports. I also liked the bank integration by linking sage to the bank and upload seemlessly. Customer invoices can be emailed directly and there is an email report.

Inconvénients :

There is no hard close. Even it the period is closed, you can go back and reopen and make changes. This compromise data integrity.

My role utilize Sage for inventory management

Avantages :

What I like is that it's a powerful tool with customization capabilities. It accurately keeps track of our inventory as long as there's no human error

Inconvénients :

It's a little buggy at time. Since it's so customizable, it's up to the developers to establish the database and how each database interact with each other. There are just things we wished were implemented by the dev from the beginning.

The Best Accounting Software For Non-Accountants

Commentaires : As someone who is more interested in running my business than getting kinky with red tape, Sage one was the best of all the accounting packages for me. Automated VAT returns as well as bank feeds were my two big requirements and Sage One fulfilled this perfectly. That it doesn't have a mobile app is an absolute travesty but that none of it's competitors with the same feature set do either means I'm sticking with it for now. As soon as another accounting software company comes along with Bank Feeds, Automated VAT returns (for Ireland without a hack) and a mobile app for receipts (currently, I use receipt bank with Sage), then I'll switch.

Avantages :

Easy to use. Irish VAT returns. Missing features are mostly filled with third party integrations.

Inconvénients :

No mobile app. Super annoying when trying to get info or input anything on the go.

That you can have full access to all financial detail of your business wherever you are

Inconvénients :

Maybe allow a link through for document storage to keep down the user space needed. For instance if I upload my slips and document to Sage I’d quickly use up my allocated space, if it could link through to my dropbox where I get far more space

Great accounting software

Avantages :

Sage has so many features! We use it for inventory, invoicing, accounting and much more! Our team can look up our parts, customers and jobs quickly and easily

Inconvénients :

It requires training to learn. You have to know what you are looking for and learn where Sage stores that information. We have had issues with multiple users adding inventory numbers. It doesn't automatically catch them.
