Avantages :

The ability to link the software with external sources like DBs and Excel files to import values. The ability to give users different access controls is really excellent feature.

Inconvénients :

There are disadvantages of the interface when working on small screens. I would be helped by a mobile application that displays the required indicators.

Using BSC Designer not only for dashboards

Avantages :

The ease to create a proper strategy map and all the functionalities to tune it up, also it becomes a great tool for scoring risk and in general to render averaged weighted outcomes to questionnaires designed to evaluate my researches and to probe companies

Inconvénients :

Cascading was not a straight forward development, but the newer version makes it easier

BSC Designer Review

Commentaires : In general terms, the tool has been very supportive, has decreased manual errors and time in the consolidation of data for calculations, reports and graphs

Avantages :

The application is technically adjusted to the methodology of the Balanced Score Card, allows to generate customized reports according to the needs of the organization. Previously, the Carvajal Foundation managed its strategic planning in Excel, susceptible to human errors in formulas and calculations. The application decreases this level of error.

Inconvénients :

Due to the dynamics of the Carvajal Foundation, indicators must be adjusted. The tool does not allow to delimit that change. For example: if the change is made in the month of September, it changes retroactively in the previous months. In the reports tab to export in Excel there should be the option to generate them according to the month. The graphics thrown by the application could be exported to a file. As it is today, only screenshots can be taken. In the application you can only include the result of the indicator, I do not know if it is technically feasible that you can also generate the calculation just like Excel does. At this moment, the calculations are still made in this Office tool, to later migrate the results to the application.

Some comments from our side below. -- changing/not changing data retroactively: I believe this can be achieved by changing the "inheritance" for a selected indicator -- Calculations inside the software - agree, it depends on the leve of the calculations needed, sometimes it's easier to do it outside and import, sometimes you can do them inside using indicator formulas. -- Excel report improvement, and Export for the charts -- added to the wish list, thank you for suggesting!

Confusing at the beginning, but interesting and engaging

Avantages :

The templates/matrices are adaptable and easy to fill so long as information/data are available. Data analysis is easy. All features of the software are equally important and are well placed to suit any organization.

Inconvénients :

The software is quite expensive. As an individual user, I could not afford to purchase it given the cost. Similarly, my organization has no plans yet of purchasing such type of softwares. Hence, I used free trial to get aquainted with it.

Really enjoyable trip around BSC

Commentaires : The BSC Designer Software is an excelent alternative when you need to work with BSCs. It has a lot of functionalities that help you to organize your work. These are some experiences I had when using this tool.
1- Really easy to install and everything built in DB (you dont need to install aditional software).
2- The support is wonderful. In their websites they have a lot of information about BSC, they have online training programs and they give specialized and personalized attention to all its customers.
3- The development team is really fast and they are always listening all the customer or users suggestions to add more functionalities or adaptability to the software. (We need to configure the alert system using our enterprise email and they add this functionality in just weeks after I asked).
4- It has more functionalities that the average software I had review. Not just has a lot of freedom and flexibility in the KPI's definition (geographical location, types and sources) but a strong tool for Strategy Maps Visualization. You can set alerts for different changes in you KPIs and send automatical emails to their responsibles. You can define all the company information: Mission, Vission, Goals, indicators, etc.
5- The reports are really comprehensive, visually appealing and you can export them to different formats.
6- In comparison to other software with similar functionalities, BSC Designer is more affordable. The total cost of ownership for the desktop or web distribution is lower than other competitors.
The BSC Designer is a great option for everyone that want to start to use the balanced scorecard strategic performance management tool in their enterprise. It is not only a great software but has a great community, services and documentation that will clear your way for applying this tool effectively.

Solved for us a major difficulty

Commentaires : It allowed us to process one of the hardest tasks which was implementing KPI system within our company

Avantages :

- I liked how it was well linking KPIs with Business Objectives - How it automatically generate a map/graph of the relations between KPIs and Objectives - Easy to use interface - The ability to link the software with external sources like DBs and Excel files to import values - The ability to give users different access controls is really excellent feature - Generating reports is very good option - The ability to backup all the data is very fast

Inconvénients :

- The way manually entering values for KPIs sometimes gives issues - Even though the interface is easy to use, but it would be better to have an improvement in the look and feel of the overall portal

Easy to use! 1 less than an hour you are able to create your own BSC

Avantages :

This software provides the sure success to be able to create a Balanced Scorecard from scratch in less than an hour. Why? because it is user friendly, it provides great examples and videos, in 30 minutes you understand the product and you will be able to define your BSC in other 30 with objectives, KPIs and data to run your bsc. I have use the software to teach BSC to c-level people and the students with a challenge of two days (without before knowledge of bsc and the tool) they have been able to make their own bsc without a great dedication.

Inconvénients :

The introduction of data is very slow as you have to enter the data value to value and date by date. It should be great to be able to enter all data in xls format directly in the tool.

Pedro, thank you for your testimonials. As of December 2016, we have completely updated the way to enter data via Excel both in PRO and Online versions. It is now much more user friendly.

First BSC software in the company

Commentaires : We would use excel only but there was a lot of room for human error, this makes it a lot easier and more trustable. I would recommend this to any small businesses trying to implement a BSC.

Avantages :

We had never used a BSC software and after a lot of research we found BSC Designer. The first thing we noticed is that there are unlimited view-only users, and thats what we were looking for. The software itself is fairly easy to learn to use, and the video guides help a lot. It offers plenty of customization options, it makes easy to set the KPIs behavior.

Inconvénients :

After the free trial we had a problem with the payment and re validating the account, which was hard to solve due to the lack of contact information on the website but once we got a hold on Aleksey everything was good to go.

We use BCS for more than six months. This allowed us to create and execute the strategy

Avantages :

It most closely meets the BCS methodology. Has a simple interface, communication goals with indicators. Indicators can be calculated in a different way. The indicator panels are convenient and informative.

Inconvénients :

There are disadvantages of the interface when working on small screens. I would be helped by a mobile application that displays the required indicators.

I enjoyed the training that came with the software. It was intense and straight to the point.

Avantages :

I appreciated most the cascading part of the software, learning that we cascade by objectives and not by measures, an error I have made over and over again. It was easy to populate the KPIs into the strategy map and see how the parent scorecard and the childscorecard were linked.

Inconvénients :

I area of KPIs (after business goals and before the strategy map), where we have Performance Progress Value and Baseline. I think it could do with a little more clarity especially during the you tube explanation so that as they are populated, they are clear and are derived from data that is available to all employees

Avantages :

What-if analysis helps to forecast the behaviour of KPIs. Another thin I like is the transformation or normalization of scales based on optimization functions.

Inconvénients :

Linking to external data. Some Business Intelligence features could be part of the tool. Dashboard is like an iceberg: there is a sophisticated implementation behind it.

A very nice and easy application to use and develop BSC models

Commentaires : This application was very well designed; the interface is organized in a way that it is self explained reducing dramatically the learning curve. From the business themes, you go through the strategic objectives, KPIs, dashboard and initiatives, all this information is contained in the same database, thus allowing easy access and updates. In the same way, several tools are present to import and export data, making easy to communicate objectives to various departments.

comprehensively covers nearly all aspects of the balanced scorecard, including measures, progress with measures, and linking measures

Inconvénients :

the reporting function - it didn't allow for much change or customization and we were unable to pull the kind of reports we had hoped for

An excellent tool

Avantages :

The interface, which shows progress and advances in a very practical way for the entire company and allows us to make quick decisions.

Inconvénients :

It's very little. But I think the online version could improve in its appearance, especially the board. Another thing is that there is no app for IOS.

Avantages :

The capacity in molding that what we need. The excellent content about and explaining what is BSC and the information disposable on the website.

Inconvénients :

Unhappily the BSC could be in Portuguese. It would help the users that do not understand, a lot, about the English language

This software is very good but i found it's operation is little but complex.

Commentaires : We can develop our organizations scorecard, dashboard by using this software. as well as we can keep our daily record through this software.

Avantages :

It covers all the area of the BSC and individual can keep record according to KPI as well as it has dashboard and scorecard which will helps a lot.

Inconvénients :

It's operation is bit complex, like other software (for example: spider) it can not easily understandable specially for the user who are using it in the initial stage.

It is an strong and powerful software. Kpi's are good and helpful to develop many profiles.cfor me as an user/admin has been really helpful

Inconvénients :

You really have to work to understand some of the features that are not easy to locate, when working with the tool, sometimes it can be slow to arrange what you need
