Commentaires : Datadog a globalement une bonne convivialité. Il est un excellent outil de surveillance et d'analyse où il permet de déterminer les performances des solutions.

Avantages :

Je trouve que DataDog est un excellent outil pour DevOps . Il fonctionne comme une ressource centrale pour gérer et surveiller les applications et infrastructures. C'est un logiciel convivial et facile à apprendre. En outre, j'aime sa flexibilité sur les données que vous pouvez suivre et surveiller en temps réel. DataDog continue d'ajouter de nouvelles intégrations et de mettre à jour son application et à publier de nouvelles fonctionnalités.

Inconvénients :

Il n'y a rien que je n'aime pas extérieurement dans DataDog. Il est un bon logiciel. Mais je pense que le prix est un peu élevé vu du point de vue d'un individu ou d'une startup surtout qu'à mesure qu'il grandit, son prix augmente. C' est un peu cher mais la plupart des clients aiment la qualité.

Great platform for logs analysis and cloud monitoring

Commentaires : Choosing to use Datadog made my work so much easier to accomplish. The logs analysis is one of the best thing that I can have in order to monitor my projects performance and health. This tool performs well and it is really useful. Real time logging works well. Definitely a must have.

Avantages :

I think that the best features that Datadog has is that you can track and follow logs in real time, something really important to have if your project is live. I like the idea of creating custom views of sets of logs (with custom filters, data parsing and a lot more) and that you can share them with your team.

Inconvénients :

It is a bit complicated to set for the first time. Is not quite easy to use or know at first about all the available features that Datadog has. Interface is tricky and can be a blocker sometimes. Following that, if your fields are not mapped in the right way, filters are not that useful.

Powerful and flexible

Commentaires : We can connect traces, logs and events on our infrastructure. We can follow every HTTP request that arrives at our API to the individual services. If errors or other events occure we can see them, as they are connected with each request / trace. This helped us a lot in finding bottlenecks in our microservice architecture

Avantages :

I really like that datadog offers a free tier to get startet with it. It helped building a net of monitoring around our servers and services. We have implemented a wide collection of (they call it synthetic tests) that we use as an continuous integration test suite. We even can monitor the performance of different application versions.

Inconvénients :

Even if their locally installed agent on our servers is very flexible and can collect so many information, the configuration via YAML files is difficult to start with. The learning curve here is pretty steep in the beginning.

Couldn't install

Commentaires : If you can get it running I am sure it's good.

Avantages :

Looks like it should do the job, less log limits than other products.

Inconvénients :

Spent days trying to get it working on a pretty vanilla Windows VM but never could get it up and running. Support pretty much just told me to read the documentation which wasn't really helpful after going over it ten times already. Had similar problem with another product and they could tell me the exact lines of the config and registry that needed changing.

Datadog is great! Room to improve but definitely the future of observability

Avantages :

For us the most liked feature of Datadog is the possibility to compare all data that we received from our platform. Being able to compare the platform status, the network status, the performance traces, the logs is really helpful letting us find issues where we couldn't find if we will do it manually.

Inconvénients :

Datadog is great but it misses something, for example it could include a self remediation tool. Since every server has already installed a Datadog agent it would be so helpful if with the UX we could add, edit or delete custom checks in python or something like that, and if we could automate some actions programmed in the UX so we could work and integrate with escalation policies, alerts and more.

Datadog for log analysis of cloud

Commentaires : Till now we have one of the good experience with the data dog as it is helping us a lot in monitoring our cloud and database server. A support from datadog team is also good thing to consider.

Avantages :

The best feature of data dog is real time monitoring of logs and vulnerability scan which stands unique to save the server and cloud from further damaging

Inconvénients :

The datadog user interface is very hard to learn and with the minimum training anyone cannot operate it fully also a lot of integrations are very difficult to operate.

Among the top 3 server and application monitoring solutions

Commentaires : It provides good and detailed info both on server monitoring metrics as well as on the application monitoring options.The experience with Datadog is excellent and, if you choose it, you are not losing anything in regard to the alternatives (the only exception is if you have the expertise to deploy open source solutions yourself).

Avantages :

Generous free plan with detailed information both on server and application monitoring.

Inconvénients :

Nothing unusual. Being a paid platform, it naturally set limits on its free plan (fair) but, for this reason, you may prefer the responsibility to deploy an open source alternative (to remove those limits) instead of upgrade to a paid plan.

Good service for logs management and analysis

Commentaires : We used it for querying and analyzing logs in case of problems in our platform (bugs, stability, performance, etc.)

Avantages :

The searching and filtering capabilities where quite convenient

Inconvénients :

The stability issues in the last year got more often than usual, which is quite problematic when you need access to you logs in real-time

Avantages :

I liked the fact that DataDog provides an easy-to-use platform for visualizing, monitoring, and alerting on all my infrastructure metrics. It's very comprehensive and the integrated dashboards allow me to quickly identify any issues. It's also great that it can integrate with other technologies, allowing me to have a complete view of my system.

Inconvénients :

I didn't like the complexity of setting up custom dashboards and metrics. It was difficult to find the right combination of settings and tools to get the desired result.

The gold standard for cloud Monitoring

Commentaires : Before Datadog out logging and monitoring was spread out over different services, both home built and cloud based. With Datadog we were able to consolidate everything in one place and synergy effects of that has been amazing.

Avantages :

If you can afford it. Get Datadog.It's a phenomenal product that keeps getting better every day.Especially if you're using multiple clouds.There are tons of integrations that gives you out of the box dashboards and metrics. Logs are easy to ingest from basically everywhere.It's expensive but the pricing is easy to understand and keep track of.

Inconvénients :

It's expensive, there is no other way to say it. But they work hard to make it worthwhile, and for us it is.Beyond that I can't really think of anything.

Commentaires : DataDog has allowed me to bring Fortune 500 company insights and application monitoring to a early stage startup!

Avantages :

DataDog is able to ingest and make sense of a complicated cloud application without the developer having to understand the infrastructure or program specifically for it.

Inconvénients :

That if I could afford it I would turn on all the features 24/7 and use them all.

Solving most of our logs need

Commentaires : Solving lot of debugging problems and close track of our infra system using the alerting mechanism.

Avantages :

good integrations with collectors. Open text search. Alerting systems. custom downtime for deployments.

Inconvénients :

Aggregation and APM metrics. More of alerting. New features to aggregate fields

Synthetic Testing Rocks!

Avantages :

As a non-technical QA person, I needed a tool to help automate tests without a lot of the technical aspects. Datadog allows me to build and schedule tests by clicking through the online version of our tool, making it incredibly simple. It also records what's wrong and allows me to edit the paths at any time if we ever make changes.

Inconvénients :

I wish I was able to use this same functionality for our mobile app or even for processes like account creation. Since we push our sign up through a payment portal we're unable to use Datadog in the same was there.

Clear graphs and easy to set up

Commentaires : Used the open URL to add dashboard to a large monitor on our workspace to easily spot spikes.

Avantages :

Really simple set up to monitor our full stack environment. Dashboard is very clear and suitable for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Inconvénients :

Nothing really. Migrating to any product can be challenging but setup was pretty simple and no key functionality absent.

Commentaires : Use it every day, easy to implement

All in one shop. APM, DB monitoring , synthetic transaction and log analysis

APM does not work well on nodejs asyc services. Might be hard to track transactions.

Datadog does a lot out of the box

Commentaires : We are using Datadog to monitor and observe over 3000 distinct video streams for outages. It does the job pretty admirably even if I can't tweak the alerts and dashboards as much as I'd like.It is VERY expensive. But it does a lot.

Avantages :

It's pretty easy to get a lot out of Datadog right out of the box -- the AWS and other integrations are amazing and easy to use.

Inconvénients :

It's REALLY expensive.It's not so easy to really really tweak the dashboarding and alerts to do more advanced mathematics or analysis.

Generally good, customer support could be better

Commentaires : Very helpful to have a full suite of observability tools. Customer support could be better.

Avantages :

Overall observability is good, and the way all of the offerings interact is helpful.

Inconvénients :

basic APM requires code customization, which isn't the case with competing products. Documentation for anything beyond basic integration is lacking. Customer support is a bit of a bait and switch; great during eval, and bad once you've bought the product.

Powerful tool for monitoring business applications

Commentaires : Datadog has been really efficient and useful since through its implementation you can monitor all business applications and thus be aware of its operation whether the same is appropriate or not and if not, you can take the appropriate measures so that the same is again the appropriate performance, that is why having this tool is a great advantage at the business level.

Avantages :

Datadog is a tool that I like for several reasons, because implementing it does not require technical knowledge, has a series of metrics that allow you to read whether the performance of applications or servers is appropriate or not, so if you find a failure or something out of the ordinary in these applications the user immediately receives alerts that notify him of this problem so that it can be resolved in the shortest possible time, these alerts being received at any time since Datadog works continuously 24/7 and the best thing is that it is a software that is very easy to use and implement, in addition to being extremely flexible because it allows you to choose the monitoring parameters that you want to apply.

Inconvénients :

Datadog is not a perfect tool because it has some drawbacks and is that the more applications are integrated with this software the performance or speed of information delivery tends to slow down which should not be since the integrations are to improve even more the performance of said tool.

Best in class APM that can meet all APM, Monitoring, and Logging needs

Commentaires : I love it - i use it for work, I use it for home. I find it amazing for finding problems and monitoring systems.

Avantages :

I can handle ALL things in Datadog. I have an answer for CI / Pipelines, arbitrary metrics, trace data, logging and more.

Inconvénients :

There are a lot of specific costs. Compare, if you will, with NewRelic (all features are free) or Dynatrace (cost on retention and davis units). If you enable "all the things", it can be costly.

Must have for your application monitoring and infrastructure management

Commentaires : Overall we are using datadog for application performance monitoring on daily basis an it has really helped us resolve application incidents.

This software allows to monitoring all you need and also can find lots of solutions for a high gama of cases. by using this app i be able to see the problems that me and my team have, so we can solve it by utilizing all the data that datadog provides. Works in differents OS and that make things more easy

Inconvénients :

The proces to instal and put in march this softwre can be a nightmare if you have not experience, it is really complicated. Though the software have nice tools, the price is not the best in the market, is posible to find something good for lowes price if you know what are you loking for. And finally haved some problem with some data transfer working with this app but i really dont konw what was the razon why

Monitoring for senior developers / platform people

Commentaires : We use it as a primary monitoring system. I'm a senior developer in charge of my team and I use it a lot. Dashboards are used daily in order to monitor what's happening, usually when deploying new features or changing some endpoints. We can trace the improvements we do by measuring response time, amount of errors, etc. I, as team lead, also use notebooks a lot to elaborate the QBR (quality business review) each quarter. I can create custom reports easily using the custom metrics we have configured across all the microservices. In comparison with New Relic, from my personal experience, Datadog is much better.

Avantages :

Inconvénients :

It takes time to understand each part and understand how to use it. It's a complex thing and if you're not familiar with monitoring systems it could be difficult to figure it out how you can find what you need.

One Stop Shop for everything

Avantages :

Correlation between APM, Infra, Log, Network and everything can make it possible to view in multiple dimensions. Also, RUM feature is so strong to cover the end-to-end observability in realtime.

Inconvénients :

One of the most expensive tool. And it could be challenged by the management.
