Jenzabar is one of very few that works fairly well for clock hour schools.

5,0 il y a 6 ans

Commentaires : Shared real time data - quality student transcripts and attendance reports.

Avantages :

The ability to customize features to meet unique needs is top notch, and their support team is highly responsive.

Inconvénients :

Still some inconsistency in processing data under unique needs for a clock hour school. Particularly when applying updated we will experience a "regression" on customized items when they interact with an update from time to time.

Modern platform that can link together all of your departments in a single platform

4,0 il y a 3 mois

Avantages :

Jenzabar has built a platform that is very cost effective and can replace the many integrations that you likely have at your school. It is a complete platform that has been modernized and rethought to function better in the last few years.

Inconvénients :

Some parts of the platform are not yet updated to the modern standards. This makes it difficult to train new users to the platform.

The Nightmare of Jenzabar

2,0 il y a 10 mois

Commentaires : Terrible. It is clunky, and very clicky. Way too many movement to get done what needs to be done. You cannot edit within the program. Any assignments given must be saved as word docs and reuploaded for every edit.

Avantages :

For me as a classroom teacher -- nothing. I guess from the Admin side -- cost effective

Inconvénients :

Very user unfriendly. There is the issue of Instructor tools and resources from publishing companies that do not integrate well with Jenzabar. Jenzabar never comes up on their lists of LMS. That is because it is not an LMS, but an SIS -- a management tool first, a classroom tool second. Admin always runs in the background.

A feature-rich software that looks like it was built by programmers

4,0 il y a 4 ans

Commentaires : I've had to use this at multiple schools now, and each time I need to learn it a little differently, depending on what my role is. It's an OK system, and generally does what it needs to, but it's not built with the average person in mind. The interface could be a lot smoother and cleaner.

Avantages :

It's a workhorse that can communicate with multiple other software systems to provide data and data management. Once you learn how to use it, it's relatively easy to administer, depending on your level of access and needs. The more you need to do, the more complex it gets, but there are menus and options for everything.

Inconvénients :

It's not built for the user, meaning it looks like a back-end system and not a front-facing one. Even the newest version, J-1, is not a "pretty" interface. It can get very clunky and full of old reports/links/etc.

Complete SIS Solution

5,0 il y a 8 mois

Avantages :

Jenzabar One offers all of the functionality an institution needs to manage the complete spectrum, from candidate to student to graduate, in one system.

Inconvénients :

Nothing about Jenzabar One, itself. Our biggest obstacle has been getting users to delve into the system and learn all of the features available.

Clunky DBMS, but it gets the job done (for the most part)

3,0 il y a 5 ans

Commentaires : We use Jenzabar to manage our University data and tasks. I personally am very familiar with the advising and registration modules. Learning curve can be steep, but it rewards one with access to some impressive versatility.

Avantages :

The best part of this software is versatility. Every department can use the same DBMS without a need to import/export data. It also integrates well with our Learning Management Software and Imaging Software, which allows for less manual entry and smoother workflow between departments.

Inconvénients :

It looks clunky and outdated (think Win XP style). The interface is not intuitive at all, it can be downright daunting to navigate. Multiple redundancies allow for manual entry of the same data by different departments, which in turn can create inconsistencies.

Decent ERP for Higher Education

4,0 il y a 5 ans

Commentaires : We use this software company-wide for admissions, registration, HR, and Payroll.

Avantages :

The database for Jenzabar runs on SQL Server which makes most administration easy. I like how you can easily check window permissions.

Inconvénients :

The desktop client UI is a bit outdated. The new J1 Web interface is very nice. However, the roll-out of J1 Web for all modules has been slow and rebranded once already.

Could be significantly more user-friendly

Commentaires : Used for keeping track of alumni, inputting contact reports.

Avantages :

Inconvénients :

Not particularly easy to use or to learn to optimally utilize (to upload information, for example)

Very challenging to learn and not very functional in finding things quickly and easily.

3,0 il y a 7 ans

Avantages :

I think how organized names and donations are in the database, and once you work with it a little bit, certain aspects are easy to use.

Inconvénients :

Reporting is extremely challenging. Paired with info makes, it almost impossible to get exactly what you're looking for.

Disappointing

1,0 il y a 8 ans

Commentaires : eLearning is cumbersome and time-consuming from the faculty side; I am an IT instructor at the collegiate level. The system involved several updates throughout the semester, and we often experience issues after an update. In August, the system crashed the first week of classes. We had to recreate over 500 courses. It was a nightmare. I am still working weekly to recreate as I go. In mid-October, we began experiencing some of the same issues we had prior to the August crash. Jenzabar support did not respond. We had another crash on October 28; this time, we "only" lost about a day's worth of work, and the system was down for two days while the latest backup was restored. The system went down again for a short time on October 31. It is very frustrating, and I would not recommend this system to anyone.

Avantages :

I cannot think of anything this product offers that is not found in most learning management systems.

Inconvénients :

Cumbersome to use (if you're used to a system like Blackboard, it's like going form riding a Harley to riding a tricycle), glitchy, too much down-time, not trustworthy

2 year - Public Institution

5,0 il y a 2 ans

Commentaires : This upgrade to J1 has been a great relief. Just doing data cleanup from the conversion is diffcult.

Avantages :

We went from CX to J1. The ability in J1 to come straight out of the box and be productive is great. We have reduced the amount of customization in our system.

Inconvénients :

We are fairly new with J1, so just learning the system.

Dated and Stale, not really a modern SIS

2,0 il y a 2 ans

Commentaires : Over all very poor. The upgrade from EX was difficult, new features didn't function well, and the support team wasn't knowledgeable about the software or how it worked. On one occasion we paid for consulting support only to have our own team fix the issue while the consultant watched via Zoom.

Avantages :

The student portal, JICS was reasonable.

Inconvénients :

Lack on native payment gateway, updates usually late, poor support, dated interface, dated features, no ability to waitlist classes, no native advising tools - Jenzabar hasn't kept up with what modern schools need for success.

This software takes some time to get the hang of but once you do it is fairly straightforward.

4,0 il y a 6 ans

Commentaires : Easily organize vasts amounts of information that you can access simply and efficiently.

Avantages :

There are endless amounts of different reports that you can run to refine your search to the specific criteria that you would like. It is very easy to input information and conversations that you have had with clients so that you can look back and see your history with them.

Inconvénients :

Sometimes my Jenzabar will stop working and I need to quit the program and open it back up again if I stepped away from my desk for too long. I am not sure if this problem stems from the software or from my personal computer.

Clunky Implementation

4,0 il y a 5 ans

Commentaires : While various programs across campus departments can now share information, certain well-loved features that we had at the time of implementation have since broken. Instead of being able to fix these broken features, customer service was only able to offer a custom built software patch that would cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars. Jenzabar ultimately feels like something we have to work through instead of work with to accomplish projects.

Avantages :

This software was able to bridge gaps between various departments and created a situation where various softwares could suddenly speak to each other and share information.

Inconvénients :

The implementation was tremendously difficult, and I've heard from people at other institutions that it took nearly two years for things to start to go smoothly. This was the case at my workplace as well, and it feels like some are still getting used to the system despite having it for nearly three years now.

Better than before, but still needs work

4,0 l’année dernière

Commentaires : Generally, it's fine, and easy to adapt to. It's not "fun" to use in any way, but it gets the job done. J1 is slightly better and faster than the previous build of Jenzabar

Avantages :

All student information is available, there are many sections/modules, and you can do a LOT within the system. As an advisor, I can register students for classes, look up their degree progress, their information, and do all the back-end things needed to make sure students are on track. You can upload/add notes for others to see as needed.

Inconvénients :

It's so "old" looking (not slick or fancy in any way), and the interface is not super user-friendly. Also, there's no built-in course scheduler (an ability to tell the system what classes a student needs in any given term, and having it give back options for building a schedule; it all has to be done manually, even though all courses are in the system for registration!)

Jenzabar One from My Perspective

4,0 l’année dernière

Commentaires : We are utilizing this to allow advisors access without going through our portal. It is much more convenient.

Avantages :

Inconvénients :

Once all features are available, it will be even better.

JENZABAR Review

4,0 il y a 6 ans

Commentaires : We need something that will work with two different systems and two different department's needs (for-credit and non-credit). It has been a really good "go between" for us when we have needed to connect the two systems data. And our management must be pleased with it, because although we have switched some functions from other software to new applications (software), the functions/tasks that have been in Jenzabar are still using it. Which would tell me that for our unique needs it is doing the job and for the right amount of cost, or they would have switched to a different program when they switched our other functions.

Avantages :

Jenzabar allows us to set up events/classes and track those who register, as well as copy over previous events/classes to the next term.

Inconvénients :

I think Jenzabar can be a confusing if you do not use it often or have to take over a task that someone else has started. It seems for our department those who work in it daily seem to use it well, but still don't like it. While others, including myself, only use it a few times per term to set up several events/classes and then don't touch it again for weeks.

Makes managing Education easy

5,0 il y a 5 ans

Commentaires : Great all in one software for education management!

Avantages :

I have used this software as both a student and as an educator. As a student, it is easy to access your class schedules, forms, class handouts/projects, register for classes, see your transcript, etc. As an educator, it is easy to access your class - upload forms, presentations, assignments, manage and submit grades, contact your students, etc.

Inconvénients :

Configuring your grading choices (weights, points, etc.) can get a little tricky.

Very antiquated and hard to navigate

3,0 il y a 7 ans

Avantages :

There are many areas within the software to explore -- which can be very overwhelming and hard to follow the complex system.

Inconvénients :

I think other Learning Management Systems do a better job at user experience and ease of use. From my point of view as a user, it is difficult to navigate.

Commentaires : The ability to have student information in one location.

Avantages :

The customer service is great and things are worked on quickly. This product is very efficient for our university.

Inconvénients :

So many options but too complex

3,0 il y a 6 ans

Avantages :

I love the potential for Jenzabar's use for my needs. It has numerous great tools that could really help me.

Inconvénients :

It is so complex, it is hard to figure out how to use all of the tools, but with more time I might love it.
