MD Tool Box a practitioner's perspective

Commentaires : I have used MD Toolbox for about 10 years. I am a solo practitioner and providing psychiatric management and consultations. MD toolbox helps me meet my prescribing needs and documentation requirements in an efficient manner. I have found it preferable to other prescribing software that I was required to use in institutional settings

Avantages :

General ease of use and functionality in addition to it helping me reduce the documentation burden associated with medical practice

Inconvénients :

THe program times out and there is a need to reboot

Good but could use some improvements

Commentaires : Fairly easy to use on a computer but the mobile version is a little clunky. I wish there were an integrated PMP feature - required in Texas for controlled substances

Avantages :

It's affordable and fairly easy to use. I like that staff accounts are free.

Inconvénients :

First and foremost, clinicians should be able to assign Rx to other prescribers within the practice from their own account. This is stupid that you don't have this feature. APRNs and PAs are unable to prescribe CII in Texas and need to set these up for their supervising physicians. Currently, our APRNs have to access a staff account to do this and they should be able to do it from their own account. Clinicians and staff make frequent mistakes with regards to assigned pharmacy. I think it would be better to force a selection every time and not auto populate with last used pharmacy.

Satisfies the need

Avantages :

It does have a mobile version on the web page.

Inconvénients :

No actual Android App. Very difficult to add to anything on mobile.

Great Product for Solo Practitioner

Commentaires : My experience with MD Toolbox-Rx has been very positive

Avantages :

Easy to use and navigate. Several great features and saves me a lot of time.

Inconvénients :

Typing in the date of birth is frustrating. If I miss one number I have to delete and start over, same with phone number.

Best E-Prescribe

Commentaires : It has been great. Customer service is superb, they reply fast and they send detailed explanations with diagrams via email. I believe they are one of the best customer services I have ever encountered. They made setting up so easy.

Avantages :

Ease of use. I have no issues using it and the cost is very good compared to others. There is no lag.

Inconvénients :

Nothing really, I would not switch to any other.

Commentaires : Works well for use as basic escripts but speed needs to be much enhanced and improved pharmacy search. Pharmacy search is the MOST bothersome and TIME consuming aspect of this software the would possibly cause me to change to another vendor. Patient database export is a HUGE feature drawback that is not available.

Avantages :

Most cost effective Easy to process medications

Inconvénients :

Very very difficult to find pharmacies Pharmacy search algorithm by city or street very poor Setup and options are very difficult to understand and not user friendly Search for patients often hangs or stalls and recent patient list should be much longer I should be able to export my entire list of patients receiving medications on an excel spreadsheet format so that these can be reviewed and assessed in their entirety without searching for patients one by one.

Easy to use but would like a few tweaks

Avantages :

Easy to use, intuitive. Easy to see all the medicine prescribed for the patient. Can send prescription directly to the pharmacy and immediately get back verification that was received.

Inconvénients :

Difficult to look up an identify pharmacies. Really dislike that pharmacies are identified by number. I would prefer if the software would list the street and city. When looking for a pharmacy, would prefer if list the pharmacies in the specific city and the surrounding cities as well. Patients don’t always know exactly in which city their pharmacy is located and it makes it difficult to find.

Just what I needed

Commentaires : New state and federal regulations don't give prescribers a choice...you've got to e-prescribe. This proved to be an economy solution, easy to set up, and easy to use once that learning curve straightens out. It's certainly not as easy as having my assistant call the prescription into the pharmacy, but the over-use and diversion of controlled substances required a more secure process. In addition, all my interactions with customer support have been with courteous American english speaking agents who have always been most helpful...that goes a long way!

Avantages :

It is a stand alone e-prescribing soft ware that did not require a large initial investment in my current practice software, and being cloud based, it doesn't care if I have Macs or PCs (I have Macs). At a time when most of my colleagues were scrambling to get compliant with new state requirements for e-prescribing and often spending $1000 plus to upgrade their practice software, I was able to set mine up over the weekend. Then after 30 minutes or so with my software guy, was able with export patient information with a few clicks, and shoot the prescription to their pharmacy. The security tools for writing for controlled substances are also easy to use and felt extremely safe.

Inconvénients :

The interface in the program is not the most sophisticated, but certainly functional. For me the learning curve was a little steep, but by the time Covid convinced me to retire, I was good enough that I could get a prescription written and sent in about the same time as pen and pad.

Easy to work implement

Avantages :

Set up was quick and easy. For someone who tends to struggle with technology it was an easy transition.

Inconvénients :

It would be helpful to have a direct link to the PMP of my state.

Avantages :

It is very easy to use and work in. It is user friendly even to the newest user. The price is great for the quality.

Inconvénients :

The one thing I don't like is that it automatically populates the pharmacy to the last used. This has led to sending prescriptions to the wrong pharmacy when we're busy because we forget it is set that way.

Easy to set up and has worked well for me for the past 2.5 years.

Avantages :

Like the ability to send controlled substance prescriptions electronically. Like the ability to store more than one preferred pharmacy for a client. Easy to review history of medications prescribed. Although I haven't needed to call very often, customer support has been prompt and quickly resolved my issue.

Inconvénients :

I have not been able to electronically discontinue a prescription, which is possibly a problem on the pharmacy end.

Exceptional Use and Value of E-scribing Narcotics

Commentaires : With MDToolbox, I have decreased my labor time and patient's time tremendously with having to write out controlled substance scripts that cannot be called in to pharmacy or refilled without a script. My patients are extremely happy that they are not having to drive all the way to my office monthly to pick up a script which interrupts their lives with time off work as well as time spent chasing a script as well as affects their money through increased gas consumption.

Avantages :

The ease of use is the most important thing that I liked about the software. Also the feature of notifying the pharmacy of discontinuing the medication. That is a feature I did not have on the other software I used. I can also track the medication from escribing through to the pharmacy's acceptance which is great.

Inconvénients :

I least liked the fact that I didn't know about this software sooner so I could have used it from the beginning if it had been compatible with my other software vendors.

Works well

Avantages :

This does what it is supposed to do, which is to facilitate electronic prescriptions.

Inconvénients :

There is no feature to allow for vacations. In a group practice this may not be as bid of a problem, since you can have someone else attend to incoming requests for refills. In a solo private practice this is more difficult. It would be very useful to have a feature to signal pharmacies that one is away for a period, and/or to forward the requests to coverage.

Have no complaints

Commentaires : Has been positive. I use it daily and it does save me time once the patient is established in the program.

Avantages :

I save a lot of time with MD Toolbox. I can't believe I waited so long to integrate an eRX system into my practice. Also, the customer service is amazing. When you call, you get help from a real human being! A friendly and knowledgable one at that. I've been so impressed.

Inconvénients :

Some of the functions aren't always intuitive. But customer service is very friendly when I need help.

Inconvénients :

search for pharmacies is not great. Have to clear a box in order to click in the name box. Mobile app glitches when sending scripts. There is an OK button after sending the script that cannot be cleared except to exit the app and go back in the app.

Prescription writing made easy

Commentaires : It has been great, everyone has been helpful when the program was initiated until now.

Avantages :

Ease of use for prescriber. Able to easily see when refills are due, past history on clients. The template is laid out very nice.

Inconvénients :

At times scripts will not go through when submitted.
