Not the Best for a Small Clinic

Alternatives envisagées précédemment :
Great EHR with room for improvement for natural healthcare providers
Commentaires : Using Kareo has been a overall great experience. It does almost everything we want it to do well, and the few things it needs to improve it at least allows you to do partially.
Avantages :
I love the layout of Kareo. The dashboard is great and offers a lot of functionality while still looking clean and professional. The clinical portion is great as it shows all the sections of the note on one page. The ability to add and remove sections is also very useful. The interaction checker is nice, but needs improvement. The iPad app is really slick and I preferring using it when adjusting my patients (Chiropractor), as it allows me to quickly tap on each segment I'm adjusting from a list.
Inconvénients :
There is very little support for natural products/supplements in Kareo. You CAN make it work, but it's definitely not easy - requiring manually entering every single product you wish to recommend in the "Drug Favorites" section.
Just a wonderful platform
Avantages :
The staff and their support through initial setup, continued training, billing issues, and routine management of my practice. Customer support is easily the most important part of a program like this and they have a 5 star group!
Inconvénients :
I think the app on the phone has more issues than I would like but I am sure it is hard to combine all the perks of the desktop version into an app without an issue.
Alternatives envisagées précédemment :
TEBRA Poor results with service tickets. Poor platform. Poor technical support.
Commentaires : Overall, very poor. I am not for sure what happened but Tebra is horrible. I would never recommend this to another colleague. Tebra, get your stuff together or your out.
Avantages :
I liked their product prior to Tebra taking over.
Inconvénients :
Multiple issues, service tickets not resolved, absolutely poor communication. Tech support closing tickets without a fix. I do 95% telemedicine and there are always connectivity issues and my connection is solid. Never had the issue with Kareo at the rate and frequency under Tebra. I have multiple tickets outstanding, have to go into my tickets daily add a note "no response yet" just to keep them accountable. If they close the ticket, you are not able to add a note on the user end. To top it all off, users received this PR email announcement from the CTO about how the system had not had any issues for 60+ days straight yet I had multiple tickets as did my colleague who also uses Tebra at his practice.
Fast and efficient use of your time
Commentaires : Very positive. This is the best EHR I have used out of 7 for Psychiatry /mental health. Our medical [sensitive content hidden] purchased Elation for our practice. The staff insisted Tebra be brought back because we like it so much.
Avantages :
SALT notes that let you view your results and interactions from previous visit. The DSM codes prepopulate into your billing. Sign takes fewer maneuvers. Too many clicks to get in the chart is annoying: Tebra avoids that.
Inconvénients :
Responsiveness regarding medication templates. This is so sensitive because we need the dosages and new medications available. No one wants a medication error
Kareo Clinical EMR
Commentaires : I'd give it a 10/10, however could be improved in some ways. Being able to hide patient charts instead of deactivate.
Avantages :
The functionality and ability to provide top tier care to our demographics.
Inconvénients :
Creating templates. Downloading medical records.
GOOD OVERALL SERVICE
Commentaires : OVERALL, I WOULD GIVE IT A 3 OUT OF 5 STARS. THE FUNCTIONALITY AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE DISTRESS'S ME, BUT I WILL GIVE IT 3 STARS DUE TO THE FACT THAT OVERALL, I DO LIKE THE SERVICE.
Avantages :
THE EASE OF USE. THE FACT THAT EVERYTHING IS SO EASY TO GET TOO. THE OPTION TO E-FAX RECORDS STRAIGHT FROM THIS PLATFORM INSTEAD OF HAVING TO USE OTHER PLATFORMS OR SAVE IT AND GO ALL THE WAY TO SOMETHING ELSE AND UPLOADING IT AND ALL OF THAT.
Inconvénients :
THE FUNCTIONALITY. ALMOST EVERYDAY, IT LAGS HORRIBLY, THE PAGES TAKE FOREVER TO COME UP, FOR A WHILE THERE IT WAS KICKING US OUT OF OUR ACCOUNT AND WOULDN'T LET US LOG BACK IN, AND THERE;S NO WAY OF PUTTING YOUR CARD ON THE SITE, YOU HAVE TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EVERYONE IVE DEALT WITH AT CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN RUDE AND CONDESCENDING.
Review on Kareo
Commentaires : Overall quite satisfied with product. Customer Service has been excellent and always helpful
Avantages :
Program is easy to learn and Customer Service has been excellent
Inconvénients :
Posting is sometimes not as easy as it should be…lots of clicks to perform functions
NP
Commentaires : The charting is good, but the customer service with their billing department is horrible, so bad that I had to switch and pay an outside billing company because I did not want to even discuss billing anymore with Kareo.
Avantages :
It’s very easy to manage through. I like that I can send documents to patients to fill out, but they aren’t easily put into the patient’s chart.
Inconvénients :
I do not like the billing and the customer service for the billing is very in adequate so I had to switch. They were rude and not helpful.
Kareo
Commentaires : I have enjoyed my experience with Kareo.
Avantages :
Its easy to navigate Kareo. The charting features were built with the medical professionals in mind.
Inconvénients :
I wish I had been intorduced to this EMR system much sooner.

Tebra review
Avantages :
Cost startup for new businesses are great. Ease and transition have been helpful.
Inconvénients :
Unable to prescribe more than one medication at a time. Needs improvement.

Kareo Clinical
Commentaires : Overall, our practice has had a pleasant experience. Other than some minor things that could use improvements we are satisfied. We can see that Kareo is working on improvements as they update us monthly.
Avantages :
The software is user friendly. It has been easy for new hires to pick up and all staff in our facility including providers feel it is easy to use. They have made many daily features easily accessible such as ordering labs, sending referrals, sending msgs to patients, and scheduling. They give you updates on any new features added including links to videos on how to use new features. Issues have been minimal but when I do have issues customer support is always more than helpful, and the wait time to talk to a human on the phone is never that long. Overall best software I have had the opportunity to use in my career.
Inconvénients :
The referral loop system could use some upgrading in my opinion. Erx requests section has become a chore. For example, one patient will have 6 medications, and I have to click on each one and deny/approve each one individually, I would like to have the option to select multiple medications for one patient and select the response and submit. Especially when denying the medications, if I am denying one I am denying all, it is time consuming to go through each one. Also, the denial reason section is limited. I wish I could click "other" and have a section to type my response. It is almost always the scenario where the pharmacy is trying to refill and old Rx and a new escript was sent in that they are over looking. I would like to be able to leave a msg for them with the denial. Another minor issue is that when we are gathering patients history we have the option in the chart sections "social history, & medical history" to add "custom items" this section you can add but not delete items.

Easy to learn and use
Commentaires : When we first went to Kareo, we were coming off a system that had brought us to our knees: nothing worked right, clients were frustrated and we had no faith in things reported in the system. Kareo changed all of that for us--we were able to have reports we could trust, true transparency for the clients, and so many functions we were able to do more efficiently.
Avantages :
We love that the software is intuitive, and we can teach a clinic how to use it (on a basic level) in about an hour. The reports are accurate and easy to use. We can set up favorite reports, and generally get help whenever we're "stuck"
Inconvénients :
Enrollments--getting providers enrolled properly and getting assistance with those enrollments. Also, we really dislike that they offshore their help desk. It's challenging to get someone who can help us when we get an offshore rep. We also wish there was a better defined collections procedure/status in the system which would help us better monitor what's gone to collection. We cannot bill UB04 charges for facilities out of Kareo.

Stay Away
Commentaires :
I signed up for Kareo with all the promises that they had given us about the functionality and up until the start date everything seemed fine. After starting it I realized that half the options were not available and my staff could not work with Kareo.
Every single time we called them they referred as to their online videos. Their staff is unable to answer any questions.
I ended up switching back to my old software after 1 day of a clinical mess in my office, and they refused to cancel my subscription. So after I used Kareo only for 1 day and I signed a 1 year contract which they refused to cancel, I ended paying for a year, when i tried to tell them to cancel the automatic yearly renewal, their staff said that I have to call them on 29 April to cancel for 1 May otherwise it will be renewed for another year.
I decided to just pay for the entire year and get them off my back. Very sad.
I usually am not that pained by a Software enough to go and write reviews but I would definitely Suggest everybody keep away from this product.
Their service is the worst ever.
Avantages :
The web based scheduling and the fact that I could switch over after a few days, but that was a farce since there was no real training.
Inconvénients :
No automatic fax , very poor support, every question is answered with please look at the video. and please read below, they are trying to make every penny they can

The worst of the worst
Commentaires : You have been warned, don't use Kareo. Customer service is zero! Literally none. I have written multiple times about this issue. It either gets ignored or I get a reply 6 weeks later that says to "clear my cookies". Brilliant suggestion, I am a moron and never thought of that.....and guess what? That solution doesn't work at all! You can disable cookies it doesn't matter. You will be logged out over and over for the rest of eternity. My wife is dealing with it as we speak. Also payments through Kareo is a complete joke. This is 4th grade software, and isn't worth the price. Spend $50 more and get something that actually functions.
Avantages :
It's a fairly simple layout with easy navigation and basic functionality. Easy to learn and get started because it has almost no functionality. Notes are somewhat easy to write.
Inconvénients :
This is the single most frustrating EMR I have ever seen and I have used at least 8 different ones. I had heard this was a problem from other reviews but I figured they were doing something wrong or it wouldn't happen to me. Here is the issue: Kareo has a timed automatic logout feature. BUT.... it doesn't work like anything else I have ever seen. It will log you out in the middle of a note, when you are entering demographic data or any other time if feels like it. There is no warning (sometimes there is but it still logs you out anyway) it will randomly log you out. All that work you were doing is GONE. Do you enjoy doing your notes 2, 3 and 4 times? This is the perfect system for you then!! Sign right up and you can spend 2-3 hours per day trying to write one note! Or when you have a patient on the phone and you are trying to schedule their visit, the system will continuously log you out over and over! Did I say that it keeps logging you out? Yes....yes I did! As an added bonus, there will be random times (a few per month or more) where once the system logs you out and you log back in, it will automatically log you back out. That's right....you will get to log in and be automatically logged out over and over and over and over and over and over and over....until you give up for the day! Think the issue might be related to the type of computer you have? Nope....this convenient logout feature works on all computers!

Not good for our single-physician dermatology practice
Commentaires : Not good. See my "Cons" list above. Unfortunately instead of month-to-month...the sales guy (who, after you sign up, you'll never hear from again) talked me into 1 year. Now I'm trying to buy out that year so we can go back to CollaborateMD...which was much more evolved...user-friendly...with features that actually work.
Avantages :
Fairly easy to use on a daily basis for me as the physician, entering SOAP notes. I did like immediately entering ICD-10 and CPT codes right after seeing the patient and writing my note. Relatively inexpensive compared to other options
Inconvénients :
Whew.... 1. I guess my expectations for a "success coach" were different from what they provide. If, during implementation you want to schedule time with your "coach," that person provides you a link to THEIR schedule and you find a time (usually at least a week away) and pencil yourself in. 2. Many ICD-10 and CPT codes for my specialty are not in Kareo when you go to create the superbill. It's been 2 years now....unacceptable. 3. To link to a lab or pathology...they provide you with a form which then gets sent to that lab. From there it's up to you to see that it happens. Both the hospital lab we use and UCSF dermatopathology were unable to link with Kareo. 4. The "voice reminder" feature is a really bad late '70's computerized voice. If it calls a patient and gets a voicemail...it begins talking as soon as it hears a voice (the message) so by the time the patient's recorder begins recording...the message is already almost over. The patient is left wondering what that computerized voice was and who called? 5. The visual accounting screen is really poorly laid out.

Hello Mathew, Thank you for letting us know about your experience with our system. We value any and all feedback about our software, as it helps us to continually evolve and improve our services. It is important to us that your practice is set up for success in every way possible, and our Success team is an important part of that process. In addition, our Support team is available and willing to provide immediate support if your Success coach is unavailable. We currently have a specialist assigned to your account, and they will be contacting you immediately to address your specific concerns. Regards, Kareo
Run Away. Kareo is Awful and Could Ruin Your Practice. It Nearly Ruined Ours. Stay Away.
Commentaires : Horrible. Kareo managed billing was absolutely horrible. We lost tens and tens of thousands of dollars to incompetence and mistakes. Collections were so bad it nearly cost us our practice. We were told they had knowledgeable billers and coders, but the opposite was true. It got so bad that Kareo has to sell off their managed billing department, which took this nightmare to a whole new level. We are still trying to clean up the messes that they made. But there was only so much we could do and the providers never got paid. The people who took over said that they had never seen such gross incompetence.
Avantages :
Nothing. The interface is modern looking, but it hides the abominable lack of functionality. The EHR is a poorly thought out and is missing basic functionality. The whole system is clunky and you and your staff will waste countless hoursuyiuyi
Inconvénients :
I do not have enough room to write a complete list of how terrible Kareo is. Basically, the EHR is a poorly thought out and is missing basic functionality. The whole system is clunky and you and your staff will waste countless hours trying to create work arounds. Your system will go down in the middle of your clinic and you have no recourse. During a particularly bad couple of days of no and/or unusably slow service, we had no choice but to close our office. Kareo will say they are fixing issues or updating functionality, but the fixes are generally meaningless and the updates are mostly ineffectual. Customer support is also terrible. The calendar is very poor and does not interface with well with the rest of the EHR. In just one example, we were having issues with Kareo creating ghost appointments and randomly deleting patient appointments. It was throwing our practice into disarray because nobody could figure out what was happening. Imagine your patients being emailed for appointments they don’t have and showing up for clinic on random days or patients not showing up at all even though they are on the calendar. Kareo knew about the problem, saw what was happening and could not fix it. . It was yet another Kareo glitch due to the badly executed and buggy software. This is just one example among dozens of how Kareo will make it very expensive and difficult to successfully run your practice.

Hello Kyle, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience and truly value your feedback. It is important to us to understand where we may be falling short so we can continue to focus on providing a world-class experience for our customers. Although our managed billing solution is now managed by a separate company, this was not due to inadequate management or a lack of customer focus. Regarding our EHR, we apologize that we were not a fit for your practice. Kareo has offered our EHR solution for years and we are proud that customers have consistently utilized our system as a tool to provide simple and reliable patient care. Although we did have latency issues recently, these have been resolved and we are constantly working to ensure we learn from these experiences. We see that you have been in communication with our loyalty team, and they will continue to assist you with any questions or concerns. Best, Kare
Could be great, but isn't yet
Commentaires : ...I'm using this space to continue describing my cons, because I ran out of characters above. On the prescribing side of things, the med interaction warnings are of no practical utility, unless you like warnings without any explanation. I'm glad that when i was new to my role, we used an EHR that would generate warnings with descriptions of the interaction and reason for the warning. For any controlled substance medication, you cannot generate a prescription renewal from the old prescription. You have to manually re-enter it, send it, then manually go back to the med list and discontinue the previous prescription for the same medication. Multiple unnecessary steps. The software automatically logs you out after 15 minutes of inactivity, which is totally justifiable for HIPAA reasons, the problem is that the software does not recognize activity in the application across multiple tabs open in the same browser, and I cannot imagine a workflow with this software that does not involve having multiple tabs open at once. So you could be working in a note during a meeting, and unless you click over into, say, your schedule tab, that tab will automatically log out after 15 minutes, meaning you will be playing whack-a-mole with your browser tabs to prevent them from closing you out. And when they do close, there is no cookie to bookmark your place in the chart to take you back there when you log back in. I would go on, but I am apparently out of characters again.
Avantages :
Relatively simple user interface, ease of navigation, ability to send lab orders electronically, responsive customer support, engaged customer support specialist during on-boarding, the note structure is great because you can see all the note sections all the time, which makes concurrent charting a breeze. Apparently the billing side of things is nice to work with (I don't work with that side of the software, though), On the patient end, it does a great job with appointment reminders, and the telehealth platform has proven relatively user friendly (though it does seem to have some audio reliability issues). Overall, Kareo generally seems open to feedback and does seem to strive to make improvements, which is perhaps the most important thing of all. I will gladly modify this review in the future if the application efficiency and usability improves, because I really do like a lot about it. There are currently just too many problematic areas for me.
Inconvénients :
A little context: My work computer is a MacBook Air (M1, 2020) that is running up-to-date Monterey OS. I have used both Chrome and Firefox, both up to date (the recommended browsers) to work in Kareo and both have problems. My computer is also about 3 feet away from a high speed, very reliable wifi router. Issues: Until very recently, there was no auto-save feature for notes, and if something happened - your computer died, your internet disconnects for a second, or Kareo closes for any reason - note gone, unless signed or manually saved. This was made much worse by the fact that I was getting error messages (Code: 500 - internal server error) constantly. Clearing cookies/cache did not help. Re-booting the machine did not help. I think these are Kareo-end problems, but even if they are due to something on my end, support did not have solutions for me, and i spent hours on the phone/email/screen-sharing. To Kareo's credit, at least now notes auto-save as I work, so I don't lose more notes in a week than i had previously lost in my entire career, but these error messages still happen, forcing me to re-load the site regularly. Also, Chrome (normally my preferred browser) will not let me use templates in my notes. I can open them and click boxes, but when I close the template form, the things I select do not populate into my note, rendering this useless. Mind you, these are Kareo-developed templates, not ones that our practice has created, so they should work. continued...
Communication SUCKS
Avantages :
It is easy to access patients and to schedule them. It looks pretty
Inconvénients :
The communication, or lack of it I should say. We have asked them to let us know once they have our statements ready to go so we can make sure that only the right statements are being sent. In the last 6 months we have been told once, (each month we ask and they tell us that they will do it next month, or they passed the info onto the team) In June they finally let us know... But in July again it was sent without letting us know, and once again we are dealing with upset patients who received statements. The issue goes even deeper than that. Kareo has been messing up on posting payments to our “at time of service” accounts. We have had to double check to make sure that things are being entered correctly, and yet some statements have gone out with payments due, that had been paid, but Kareo did not credit it correctly if at all. The other issue is the communication when letting us know that an MVA insurance is turned down. So that we can get the right information, instead they just let it go for 2 or more months before an internal follow up. That is another issue. There can be 2-4 months between follow up on some of our accounts. We have encountered stuff being sent to the wrong clearinghouse and they keep sending it only to find it being rejected. Rather than calling WA State LNI, or printing paper billing to send, they keep sending it and getting it denied... We only found this issue when we called WA state LNI to see why we had not been paid for a client, to find out that they had not received a bill. We then called Kareo and asked them and they let us know that the clearinghouse denied it repeatedly. I could keep going on with issues, but I think you get the idea. Because of their mistake, it has almost closed the doors of our practice. And I have not even started on the Credentialing issues we had with them doing it for us. It took us well over a year to get Medicare - and the only reason we got it is that we took over submitting the paperwork and such. They told us we where credentialed with LNI of WA and we were not. When we asked them to clean up the mess, they stopped talking to us. So we had to take over and get credentialing with multiple providers after paying them to do it for us.

Patient Pop is Patient PLOP Dramatic fall i. Organic
Commentaires : Every one is as nice and sweet as can be , although most almost clueless Patient pop should be ashamed of product site put out filled with errors. Cuts and paste. zero SEO optimization. The parts did write were just generic and NOT applicable for my practice at all Choosing patient pop over my previous web builder (changed on basis of what sales people told me ) was BIGGEST most costly mistake ever. Have documented proof of loss of revenue beginning two weeks after site went live and dramatic fall off on organic ranking
Avantages :
Nothing. Except Like call tracking , but this is very common. Have this with other things I used. Don’t like that with phone call leads cannot add notes
Inconvénients :
Don’t know where to begin. As i was told OVER PROMISED. UNDERDELIVERED Web site development is at level of intro self building. Plug abs build website. Most everyone talk to knows nothing even of most basic website elements and relays message. Horrendous website building experience. I had to build over 90% of it myself and still patient pop couldn’t get it right. Paid in August and still don’t have the website complete I LOST my top organic search presence dominance withong two weeks of patient pop going live. I have been in business six years and dominated legs is SEO before patient pop

Kareo Software Review
Commentaires : I enjoy Kareo, I currently have 6 practices using it. I always refer clients looking for new software to Kareo. The success coach [SENSITIVE CONTENT] has been helpful and makes me feel very confident in my knowledge of Kareo and had I can pass that on to my staff.
Avantages :
I love the eligibility tool. I also enjoy the help doc, I can usually look up what I need which is much faster than calling customer service.
Inconvénients :
Requesting new features takes a long time to get done. Also the time difference. If I have an issue at 8 and it is only 7 in California my wait time for customer service is much longer.
Since the merger you failed the customer
Commentaires : Kareo was great tebra no good
Avantages :
The user experience using the software tele health function and billing
Inconvénients :
I own a small private practice with 2400 patients. I started out with kareo in 2020. For the most part the system was fine. Now since the merger to Tebra I am having a tremendous amount of difficulty getting through to people and a straight answer to open tickets. I ask direct questions on certain matters. I do not get an email back until days later if ever at all. When I do get an answer by email it's a boiler plate with acronyms in text. How do I know what your acronyms mean? The patient portal doesn't work, I have 2 providers unable to send narcotics, and the system is down at least twice a week. these are the tickets that are not resolved 02594906,04485694 02744350.0274902402758921 0259490
You can do better...
Commentaires : Egg, you could do better. We are only using this at the request of our billing company
Avantages :
The text reminders are great and that's included. The app has a lot of features, maybe too many features.
Inconvénients :
I dislike how often it is down for repairs and maintenance. Sometimes, it happens right in the middle of the day putting us behind. The app has too many features but can't get a simple itemized statement.

Hello Michael and thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our software. We apologize that you've experienced any difficulties with our software. We have had a couple of instances of latency with our system the last two months but have taken steps to resolve this. We understand how much of an impact this has on practices, which has been our motivation to push forward with system improvements. We will continue to focus on developing our existing product to minimize latency issues as this is currently our main priority. I also apologize regarding the limitations you mentioned with our statements. I am confident if you reach out to our support team, they would take every effort to ensure we exhaust all options in attempting to find a solution for you. Please contact us at 888-775-2736 with any questions or concerns that you may have. Thank you, Kareo
Extraordinarily Disappointing
Commentaires : I would not recommend doing business with Kareo at all. Their products are sub-par. I have found out just how sub-par in the last 3 months of transitioning. Any organization that continues to charge a customer's credit card after twice confirming a plan cannot be trusted, and that was after numerous other broken promises. The people we worked with were all very nice, but the systems they had to work in failed to actually assist customers. Please invest your time and resources elsewhere.
Avantages :
Our small 2 provider office started out relatively successfully with Kareo about 4 years ago with both EHR and Practice Management (PM). I thought my trainer did a good job. After that...it was downhill.
Inconvénients :
We added three more providers in time. Kareo's promised functionality on their PM platform didn't receive attention, support or vision that really paid off on the user end. The EHR experienced minor improvements that were hailed as miracles, however still lacked significant benefits. Kareo transitioned to charging for EHR and the communication with us at least failed completely. It took 2 months to come up with an agreement our office felt was fair, however it was all initiated by us. Their solution was to give us 30 days to transition to a new platform, which since it takes 3 months to implement their program, I pointed out that wasn't really reasonable. We have fought to get our data in any type of usable format, both clinical and business and spent 100+ hours trying to get it through the back door. Really, a very very disappointing experience.
KAREO IS A LIFESAVER
Commentaires : My husband's words will be all I need to express: " OMG! I got my wife back!" Is that enough?
Avantages :
As a billing company, woman and entrepreneur, I found myself fumbling with other software and working myself to death. Ask me about a software and I will tell you about it. With Kareo, I was able to drop all of my clients into one system at once. Set up was easy and painless and I was able to keep my promise that billing never stops and that made my clients happy. With Kareo EMR and PM accessibility, my billing company soon found itself able to add not only consulting, training and virtual front desk/scheduling capabilities, but we are now unveiling our Virtual IT Director department so that we are able to continue growing. All this could never have happened if Kareo was not introduced into my life.
Inconvénients :
Listen. There is always something you don't like about a software. There have been some, but they are so insignificant, that I am unable to recall any that have not been enhanced with a request. In fact, if there is a request that will work for the entire Kareo community, you are encouraged to provide that so that they can put it into the software. That is how versatile this company is. For a billing company, they are there to hear you and encourage you and help you grow. You cannot say that from any one else. You really cant. So, yeah, things I don't like, I voice and they fix.
