Good enough monitoring

4,0 il y a 6 ans

Commentaires : Overall positive, but it could be improved with better and more intuitive configuration and more flexible pricing.

Avantages :

I like how we can centralize and customize all our monitoring, get alerted when anything goes down, including servers, processes etc. We can also keep an eye on the performance of our web application and detect problems before they become serious. Takes a little setting up but it's very helpful.

Inconvénients :

The page where it runs often hangs and needs to be reloaded. The setup can be tricky, removing assets is also kind of complicated and not very intuitive. Seems to me a little bit pricey, I wouldn't mind a base price close to what we pay and then having the ability to add or remove assets easily and for a lower extra price. I currently keep all the testing and staging infrastructure out of this because it would cost too much to have it on.

UI/UX and Pricing models have improved but deployment is a nightmare

3,0 il y a 2 ans

Commentaires : We had evaluated NewRelic several years ago but the product was too complex and unstable. At the time, pricing had also became very complex and it was hard to predict how much you would pay. We were excited to give it another try, and were happily surprised by the improvements, both in terms of pricing transparency and UI/UX (only if you use the "new" design though). However, once we started the deployment, and despite the fact we were having a very simple infrastructure (Linux + PHP + MySQL + Node), it became a nightmare. The agent installation was buggy, multiple services were not discovered properly. We had to install the MySQL agent manually, and the step-by-step guide was outdated. After a successful installation, we still did not receive any MySQL-related data. After all these headaches, we decided to part ways with NewRelic, but then discovered you cannot actually close your account online. Instead, you have to go through a knowledge-base, and kindly ask assistance from a moderator (e.g. you don't even have access to a Support ticket system). Our understanding is that NewRelic did their best to revamp their product but they are suffering from 10 years of product additions/modifications and most likely the only way to resolve that would be for them to start a brand new product from scratch or acquire a smaller player in the space who gets it.

Avantages :

- Clearer and unified pricing, easier to understand than other platforms - "Clean" UI if you use their new design

Inconvénients :

- Deployment was a total nightmare - Documentation is not up-to-date - Can't close your Account nor reach out to Support to do so - Uninstall guide is incomplete and actually messed up with our systems

One Stop Server/App/Website/etc Monitoring

5,0 il y a 2 ans

Avantages :

I love this product! I have always had the free tier and it has so much many features. I don't know how they do so much for the free tier. I use the realtime app monitoring (APM) the most, to see current traffic as well as checking for slow apis and why they are slow. The second most used tool is to monitor my actual server (Host). Then of course I can't forget the essential and anxiety removing notification system that will tell me as soon as whatever I don't want to happen and set up an alert for, happens. This has saved me and my customers a few times already. Thank you for a great product! :)

Inconvénients :

I would love to upgrade to the paid version, but, so far, it is too expensive. I wish there were a starter tier, or even a supporter/love your product tier.

System analytics made easy!

4,0 il y a 5 ans

Commentaires : Overall experience was really good with us identifying the system bottlenecks using New Relic and then optimizing those and checking their improved performance in New Relic again.

Avantages :

New Relic can be used to monitor system performance by integrating it with your system, written in any programming language, so that New Relic can gather variety of system metrics available. The APIs being used in the system can be profiled using New Relic or be it the queries happening on the system database. This analysis can later help in optimising the system performance by making sure all these slow api hits or db queries are working efficiently.

Inconvénients :

User interface of New Relic can be enhanced and made more user friendly for new users so that they can start their system analysis straightaway without having to get familiar with the UI first.

Know the issue before your customer

5,0 il y a 6 ans

Commentaires : Together with Zabbix, New Relic enables us to detect and fix issues on our production servers faster.
Insightful reports help to analyze the efficiency of our updates: we can see whether the update fixed the performance issue it was supposed to or not, and perform analysis of our codebase in long retrospect.

Avantages :

- Integration with our technology stack helps us to set up monitoring for most critical issues in our software; - Integration with Zabbix allows to push errors to our OPS team communication channels and fix issues before customers have to notice and report the issue to support.

Inconvénients :

Nothing in particular, New Relic does a great job of monitoring KPIs for our SaaS app.

Commentaires : Happy with the product overall and it has a good user interface and easy to use

Avantages :

New relic has many features for active monitoring and getting access is pretty easy. Configuring and using the alerts to get the application insights is really good

Inconvénients :

Maybe improvement to the monitoring in terms of code logs can be helpful for the developers

Love New Relic, but it's expensive

5,0 il y a 7 ans

Commentaires : Helped us isolate code that was freezing the server in odd scenarios.

Avantages :

New Relic lets you isolate errors in your software. It does deep dives and tells you what takes a long time which can indicate if it's freezing the site. It will isolate different types of problems from Ruby to javascript. It has been a life saver when code has caused problems

Inconvénients :

It's expensive for the price. I mean if your team scoured this data constantly to improve things, then it may be worth it and/or negligable. But we use it when we have a problem, which doesn't come up that often. Last I checked you had to pay more for more history and that gets expensive. so if you use it twice a year to isolate a problem, then paying year round is expensive...especially compared to other services like honeybager

Great product for monitoring your services and infrastructure.

5,0 il y a 6 ans

Avantages :

Amaizing insights. And the ability to drill down to the metrics when you are in a crisis is really helpful. UI is decent. Ease of plugin development

Inconvénients :

Cost. Cost. Cost. There are products out there will get the job done with much leasser price. Also the client side agent is. definately a bit resource intensive

Love New Relic, but soooo expensive

4,0 il y a 7 ans

Avantages :

Love the ability to see under the hood on production products while up and running. There have been countless times where we can pinpoint an issue in production that we couldn't replicate in dev. Great tool.

Inconvénients :

SOOOOOO expensive. I really wish their pricing model was based on number of transcations, dealing with their sales team has consistently been brutal. There seems to be no logic to their pricing and their sales people have struck me as super slimy, only interested in getting their commission. I would be much happier if they went to an AWS like pay per use model.

Best Application monitoring tool around !!

5,0 il y a 4 ans

Avantages :

Ease of use is the best feature about this tool, you can get started with very minimal training. Dashboarding perfromance report capability is also good, helps us to keep on top of our applications perfromance. Another feature that we love is the integration with Jira which enabled auto-creating of tickets on violation of certain thresholds. Overall, this is used by developer community on daily basis.

Inconvénients :

The licensing is per node, whcih makes it expensive to turn it on non-prod infra. I hope this changes in future.

One of the best product to monitor application in realtime

4,0 l’année dernière

Commentaires : I had a great experience with the new relic. I am still using it to monitor my product in real time. It is giving me useful insights about my product in real time

Avantages :

New Relic offers a comprehensive set of features that can be valuable for businesses. Some of the notable aspects include real-time monitoring capabilities, proactive alerts and notifications, customizable dashboards for data visualization, robust performance metrics and analytics, transaction tracing for granular analysis, and integration with other tools and systems. These features empower businesses to gain deep insights into application performance, troubleshoot issues efficiently, optimize performance, and enhance user experience. New Relic's focus on real-time visibility, comprehensive data collection, and proactive monitoring helps businesses detect and address potential issues promptly, leading to improved application reliability and customer satisfaction.

Inconvénients :

the complexity of setting up and configuring the tool for legacy applications. Other than that I can't think of any negative point.

Simple and intuitive tool with necessary insights for any application

4,0 il y a 6 ans

Avantages :

Gives simple and detailed performance insights for each part of your application or environment and that too in real-time! Great that it highlights errors and issues down to the line number in the code. Makes the job really simple to troubleshoot and fix issues. Setting up timely email to get updates about the performance is a good feature for managers to have.

Inconvénients :

The paid version is too expensive for a medium scale startup like us. It may be worthwhile when looking to scale things up to a great extent. Also the tool may be overwhelming for a new user since it provides loads of information at once. For the free user there's no one to give an onboarding tour or a demo, so that may turn off some new joinees.

Pros & Cons of New Relic

5,0 il y a 2 ans

Avantages :

1. It has a great interface to debug server-side performance issues.2. Since it runs on your server you get accurate real-user page load times.3. It provides the ability to write custom queries also.4. It also provides the ability to customize monitoring parameters.5. It has a fine stacktrace which highlights the faulty code line by line.

Inconvénients :

New Relic has some shortfalls:1. Its Python agent has many memory leaks which lead to resource hogging.2. It has very limited support for the Tornado web framework.3. New Relic works best if your app has some kind of web API, otherwise, it's not much of a use.4. Its interface is a bit tricky, so goodbye ease of use.5. It can be sometimes difficult to get your threshold limits correctly.

New Relic is an enterprise ready tool for your arsenal

4,0 l’année dernière

Commentaires : Good experience, if you can afford it.

Avantages :

It’s got lots of features that enterprise companies are begging for. Incidents and alerts are some of the main features that they push. The metrics they support are industry leading and they’re driving them.

Inconvénients :

The charts don’t drill down, and NRQL is a little hard to read. New Relic is very expensive.

Monitoring for Applications and Systems

4,0 il y a 5 ans

Commentaires : We like and use New Relic, but it is no longer our only monitoring solution, as we need to use several tools to hit all of the needs that it once hit on its own.

Avantages :

New Relic provides great insight into what our applications are doing in real time, from traffic through to code timings.

Inconvénients :

New Relic's business model has gotten in the way of their product. Several features we used daily were sunset and their replacements were hidden behind new billing models. In the time since we have started using New Relic we have paid no less, but lost several features.

Amazing server and app reporting tools

5,0 il y a 6 ans

Commentaires : Completely satisfied with this toolset.

Avantages :

Instant alerts on server issues. Performance testing may be performed with analysis of every service running on the environments. System uptime is being reported on daily with the toolset being most easy to use without slowing down performance. Training provided by new relic team was amazing, from our testers to engineers, everyone benefitted from understanding how to use the tool. We are currently running it on our UAT and Prod servers and the information gained has allowed an increase in performance via optimizations and a decrease in debugging.

Inconvénients :

Not many cons that i can mention. The tool has been a rather good addition to our tech stack. A strong machine is needed which can be costly if the server will be sitting in the cloud.

Great software monitoring

5,0 il y a 5 ans

Commentaires : Overall new relic has been a very handy monitoring tool, we have it on all the time to keep an eye on the servers and the alerts are very helpful as well.

Avantages :

Once set up new relic is easy to log into from anywhere and monitor your various systems, keeping an eye on load times, errors and server health.

Inconvénients :

The error logging could sometimes be a bit better with a complicated app, but generally the errors are helpful in at least pointing us in the right direction.

Solid APM capabilities and a cloud-native approach to monitoring

3,0 il y a 5 ans

Commentaires : APM vendors are a dime a dozen, New Relic is one of the most experienced and it shows in the product and support.

Avantages :

New Relic has been around for a while, they were founded in 2008. That's over 10+ years in delivering application insights to customers. I started working with New Relic while with VMware, they were overkill for infrastructure but really shone when it came to applications. The ecosystem is active, there are plugins for many popular applications and solutions. They run big data analytics on the backend to provide insights based on patterns observed. Dashboards are easy to setup and customize, and the UI performance is snappy.

Inconvénients :

There are a ton of different products within their portfolio so it is somewhat daunting to figure out what works for you. Even worse, pricing varies on multiple factors so it's not straightforward to predict your costs. They do offer a free trial though, like many similar products. While there are many plugins available for New Relic, they are often maintained by partners or other users and are not directly supported by New Relic.

New Relic is a very good product if you have the budget for it.

5,0 il y a 7 ans

Avantages :

The strongest point of New Relic is the granularity of the information and that it's a very good fit for any Rails app.

Inconvénients :

The big issue I have with New Relic (and the one that made switch to a different provider) is that the pricing is outrageous. Unless you are with a Corporation that does not mind throwing $$$ per month on this service, the free version is barely an good.

Commentaires : My experience with this product is amazing and I would definitely recommend it.

Avantages :

This product is very easy to integrate with your application and is very easily customizable as well. You can monitor the application health, latency, memory used and so much more and also customize the dashboard according to your needs.

Inconvénients :

It is a bit confusing to learn and adapt to it in the starting but once you get the hang of it, it's an amazing product.

New Relic -cloud concerns

4,0 il y a 4 ans

Avantages :

During the time we were using NewRelic we were 100% on-prem environment so for this model, the software met out requirement. It was easy to deploy new checks.

Inconvénients :

We were migrating our infrastructure to the cloud (Microsoft Azure) and at the time New Relic could not provide us required checks from Internet, e.g. simulating session for end user to web service. Covering all cloud assets was also not possible.

Profile your app in production

5,0 il y a 5 ans

Avantages :

NewRelic makes it very easy to profile your app in production without affecting the app performance. Sometimes, some performance related issues only occur in a specific environment and it is hard to find them in development environment. With NewRelic it is not only possible to detect performance related issues but also pin point the exact location in your code that is responsible for that issue. Their other popular service is NewRelic Servers which make it easy to monitor overall server performance.

Inconvénients :

Too pricey for small teams and startups.

Great Application Management and Performance Tracking Tool

5,0 il y a 4 ans

Commentaires : My overall experience with this product is awesome. This tool has helped my company to save lots of money on AWS bills. A great analytic tool to get insights on the application data and make the business decisions.

Avantages :

I love the dashboard feature of the new relic, we can customize the dashboards as per our requirements. It's a great visualization tool, which gives real insights on the application data and helps my company to take the decisions accordingly.

Inconvénients :

Documentation for the tool can be improved a lot more. It requires some learning curve to understand and derive insights into the data. Video tutorials could be awesome.
