Great looking and advanced simulations

Commentaires : I am a teacher in university. I had never worked with simulation software before, so it was my first software of such type. FlexSim is just a whole universe, with it's own logic and rules. If you want to do BIG things with it - you have to understand all of these rules, accept them and change your own thinking to follow that rules (to think like FlexSim would think). I am a very advanced user of Excel, and Excel is a large universe as well. But now I am wondering which of them is bigger.

Avantages :

Great visualization makes it very pleasant to start learning; Lots of built-in features, Data import-export; Different modes (3D, ProcessFlow), where you can work simultaneously or independently; Strong statistics (distributions), that can be integrated on the models, collecting and presenting data; Anything you lack regarding the model or actor logic can be added as code snippets; Really basic models can be made in minutes

Inconvénients :

It becomes difficult to learn it when you go in deep. The really basic actions are easy and intuitive, like for kids. But when you get to something just little more complex - it requires a lot of additional knowledge. Little community tutorials. There are not many community samples and tutorials on youtube or in the web. Most of them are over basic functions - you probably will need to enroll a training.

FlexSim is a Great Tool

Commentaires : At the moment I use FlexSim to simulation the possibilities within a given confined space. I build models to represent a few different scenarios and demonstrate them to the team, so that leadership can make a decision on particular go/no-go criteria for a project. I use FlexSim to demonstrate possibilities that people in the viewing group might not have even considered, and generate new conversations regarding what's possible and which direction to go.

Avantages :

What I like most about FlexSim is the software's ease of use. I did trials on several other simulation software and FlexSim came out on top for me. It was intuitive and just simply made sense when building models. After the initial training I built a simulation model to represent one of our biggest production plants. Having that 3D visual was key in explaining processes to the rest of the team, and I could make real time changes in the model to work through those "what if" scenarios. The intricate details and the ability to allow viewers to see a different perspectives is actually very eye opening.

Inconvénients :

What I like least about the software is the lack of floor levels that are representative of actual buildings. This might be minor, but I wished there were options for prebuilt stairs and different floor levels. Stairs and floor levels are common in plants, hospitals, airport, etc., so why not give the user those items in the toolbox. For example, if I wanted to simulate a building with three floors, with people walking from one floor to the other (not necessarily one above the other, otherwise we wouldn't be able to see the operation on the other floors), using a second and third elevated floor plan. Hopefully that makes sense.

FlexSim Modeling

Commentaires : Good initially during classroom session followed by coaching provided by trainer post training. As we only use FlexSim maybe 1-2 times per year, was a struggle trying to remember the system features especially for complex processes. Suggest if FlexSim is conducting new classes, that the previous members can sign up for refresher course at a much lower fees i.e. join the class together with the new sign up. This will allow a continuation of interest & the use of FlexSim.

Avantages :

It does have easy to use icon bars & links that can piece a simple flow together. Able to generate statistics for basic flow through the simulated data.

Inconvénients :

For more complex process with more variable data, it becomes more difficult to use the tools. Need good knowledge of FlexSim to apply the variables required to make the simulation closer to the real process. Without frequent practices & application, the knowledge erodes fast.

Cool Visuals But Not Sure on Implementation

Commentaires : My overall experience with FlexSim has been basically of uncertainty with it being a new software that I do not find easy to use and has not been implemented with my company. The training was disappointing as there were technical issues and we “hit the ground sprinting” from my experience of not knowing how to start a new project and then too large of a group to get the specialized assistance needed.

Avantages :

What I liked most about this software was what I saw in a presentation that was able to simulate a logistics warehouse and was very helpful and informative for future clients to see actual 3D modeling showing more than be stated just in words.

Inconvénients :

What I liked least about this software was that the training seemed to not be directed at my industry as the first few days were very random and there was not a good introduction on how to use the software from a very basic understanding.

Long time Simulation practitioner

Commentaires : We are using FlexSim to evaluate a new production line, everything from equipment capability, line control logic and staffing. The data from the simulations has enabled us to reduce staffing, and equipment requirements.

Avantages :

Very easy to build a simple model with the 3D Objects. The 3D objects have enough hooks in place to deal with more complex situations as well. There is no need to know programing language. The software is a tool that can be used by both the novice and experienced modeler.

Inconvénients :

The users manual is a bit hard to follow, and missing some information. I would like more options for flow item shapes and shapes for resources.

All purpose simulation software

Commentaires : I simulate mining sites (surface and underground), mine-to-port logistics, food and beverage plants, airport baggage handling systems, mechanical workshops, manufacturing assembly lines, distribution centers, distribution networks, supply chains, rail and road transport systems. Very visual although visual can be turned off or ignored, very efficient flexscript language, I can simulate a wide range of industries with a single tool.

Avantages :

Stunning interactive 3D graphics, full programming capabilities (no external compiler needed), links with Excel and SQL databases, ability to customize anything and develop reusable libraries

Inconvénients :

Limited cloud interactivity, too many new important features appearing, company focus seems to be on Process Flow module which is more complicated to use by programmers and less object-oriented

Simulation made easy and intuitive with FlexSim

Commentaires : Great software to introduce Simulation and show-off 3D models.

Avantages :

Not only does FlexSim has great 3D graphics potential compared to other software applications in the market, but also its simplicity and intuitive modeling structure gives it an edge from the rest.

Inconvénients :

While FlexSim is mostly built for an easy point and click modeling approach, modeling complex decisions that require deep programming conditions is not very straight forward as compared to other applications.

Great Simulation Software

Commentaires : I am using FlexSim in academia to teach simulation. It is very helpful to dedicate little time to learn the software and more time on learning simulation. We have worked with industry to build academic examples of their processes to include in our class successfully. It is helpful to have some C programming background when you need to do something advanced.

Avantages :

Amazing 3D capabilities, easy to learn, you can build a simulation in a short period of time.

Inconvénients :

It is hard to obtain raw data since version 6.0, some features just disappear from one version to the next one eg. Conveyors

Awesome software !

Commentaires : Virtualization of a packaging line with a large amount of contraints in order to optimize the production of it.

Great software big learning curve

Avantages :

I appreciate all the functionality that FlexSim offers. You can do basically any thing you could possibly need in regard to simulation building. The customer support is excellent as well if you run into issues.

Inconvénients :

This software takes a long time to fully comprehend since it's so powerful. I have been using FlexSim for about 6 months now and still feel like i'm scraping the surface with all there is to do with the software.

Commentaires : We use FlexSim for goods and process plant logistics as well as clinical people based logistics combined with goods flows.

Avantages :

FlexSim has been putting in a great development effort over the past few years and it really shows. New features such as Process Flow visual programming, and Statistics Collectors for data and result handling make models far easier and quicker to set up, and a lot of the new content means that FlexSim can be used for more different types of modelling fields with less effort. As the name implies FlexSim really does offer great flexibility in range of application. I especially look forward to exploring the new People Modul content in FlexSim 19.1 which should help make people based simulations even easier.

Inconvénients :

The deep level of customization and the sheer number of features that gives FlexSim its flexibility, can at times seem overwhelming and make the learning curve a bit steep. Though the interface is quite intuitive the fact that you can do the same thing in may different ways, sometimes has you wondering if you are making something harder than it has to be or if you have missed another features somewhere.

Avantages :

3D modeling of dynamic processes and change of visual images in the process of medical care. Flexible virtual experiments

Inconvénients :

Limit the number of objects and processes in the trial version, which does not allow to complete the training example of modeling a medical center in full.

Nice Process Simulation Software Tool for Healthcare system

Commentaires : I have been using FlexSim for 3 years and impressed with the progress of their development team that kept coming up with new features that make the software getting better. We got a number of compliments from the project team when we use FlexSim to show and discuss our concept to drive the process improvements.

Avantages :

FlexSim software provides very nice 3D animation that can be presented to non-software technical stakeholders (e.g. the clinical staff and physicians). The time to develop the model is not too long. The software also give you the flexibility to customized the model in the way you like. Dashboard function is very good. Customer Support is excellent with quick turnaround time. The actually help you build and debug the model if you reach out for support. Price is good comparing to the competitors.

Inconvénients :

It take time for new employee to learn about the software. Debugging is not very easy for new user too.

best simulation software ever !

Commentaires : I'm working in batch process production where each type of product van run on each line, main use of Flexsim is to get the optimum sequence for each line to run maximum performance. secondly, we use flexsim to optimise and calculate the logistics of the products in and out the production.

Avantages :

the different ways of designing a scenario, in combination with the variables and inputs are just great. you have the typical drag and drop, then the flow chart and even code for the super special stuff. and best of all… these can be combined !

Inconvénients :

some features like a textbox to set how many scenario's are not direct available, but these are solved by the local helpdesk how sent me a script to do that.

Commentaires : I have used several discrete events simulation packages over the last 20+ years, and Flexsim is the most powerful yet easy-to-use software for plant layout simulation I've encountered.

Avantages :

Power, flexibility, freedom to customize applications for beginners through pros, legacy models not lost, statistical analysis embedded, excellent customer support, and large, active user group willing to collaborate and share.

Inconvénients :

No drawing app included to generate new 3D entities. However, does accept a wide variety of formats from a multitude of CAD packages.

Excellent simulation software

Commentaires : For academic purpose teaching simulation modeling of manufacturing systems involving queuing, job shop production scheduling and inventory problems.
Flexsim has been appreciated by all students and faculty In comparison to the earlier simulation software that we were using.

Commentaires : As a member of HE I have found the software extremely useful for teaching DES to 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students. The software is easy to get to grips with and the students really enjoy using it.

Avantages :

Inconvénients :

The library of 3D models, it may help if there was multiply 3D models for a given library feature ie 3 or 4 processor 3D models. Possible need more walk through tutorials ie on financial side of dashboards

Excellent Customer Support

Commentaires : Having a little bit of programming background i find flexsim easy to use and appreciate the level at which i can customize my model with custom code.

Avantages :

I attended their training which was excellent. I particularly appreciate the customer service. When i post on the forum i get same day responses. Flexsim is a great piece of software with an insane amount of capability.

Inconvénients :

There is still a few bugs. Like when the model is running panning the 3d view is glitchy. The overall interaction with 3d space is clunky but once you learn it its not too bad.

Honest Review

Commentaires : We are able to determine where bottlenecks of conveyance is inside the plant prior to implementation, resolve them, and then launch with less issues.

Avantages :

The ability to program the software to work in any industry. The capability of being universal yet customize to be very specific is fantastic.

Inconvénients :

There are some limitations that would seem to be easy to overcome, like only using rectangles for control areas. Granted, rotating them is possible, but still leaves room for improvement. It would also be nice to be able to import AGV network paths.

FlexSim 2019 Review

Avantages :

The new logic based processes are very easy to understand.

Inconvénients :

Modeling labs are not as visually pleasing as compared to the last software version. There should be same icon choices for the combiners and separators, not just the singular machine icon.

Great, easy to use software with very helpful local customer service.

Commentaires : Great experience. I love the software to validate and show the customer different optimization possibilities in their hospital department.

Avantages :

It is very easy to learn the basics to create a good working model. When you are using it more often, there are also a lot of opportunities to customize your model. I also really like the Healthcare specific software, since this saves a huge amount of time in building Hospital models.

Inconvénients :

Sometimes it is really hard to find your error or mistake in a larger model. Also the results in the dashboards are not always entirely logical to me.

Commentaires : We are able to easily show the benefits of setting up production lines in flow using our single-piece flow initiatives. Also, this software allows us to find the optimal solution for any system regardless of the complexity.

Avantages :

Flexibility, Easy user interface, 3-D Model creation is real-time. Outside of the software the customer support is AMAZING. They always help answer any questions you have as quickly as possible.

Inconvénients :

Some output is difficult to obtain without using a combination of Flexscript and model documentation.

Commentaires : Software does what it is supposed to and works well. They consistently add new features and functionality which is great. Support wise they are the best company I deal with.
