MEEZ for culinary classroom

Commentaires : MEEZ has brought structure and organization to what was formerly just a bunch of files in my Google Drive. It has brought transparency, organization and easier collaboration.

Avantages :

I have been very pleased with our integration of MEEZ into our workflow. Our class is built entirely around a model of entreprenuership and having software like MEEZ has facilitated collaboration and dish development. Also having nutrition built in made our NASA HUNCH menu development much easier. I hope to fully build out our food costing database to make that as easy as it should have been all along.

Inconvénients :

There has been some confusion around sharing recipes and how to post them to specific concepts

A must for recipe and menu management

Commentaires : We were trying to get our COGS under control the most challenging part was quickly figuring out the cost of a recipe. Meez is awesome because you add the price of an ingredient and then that price is added to any recipe. If I need to make an adjustment to a recipe, it automatically adjusts the cost. I also like that I can easily toggle the price to see what the COGS would be. Lastly, we use Meez while cooking in the kitchen to easily scale recipes without any math. That’s a real lifesaver. Overall it’s made my recipe management and costing so much easier and for an affordable price.

Avantages :

It’s easy to upload recipes into the software and easy to make adjustments.

Inconvénients :

It’s sometimes buggy but it’s nothing major.

Good Organizational Tool

Commentaires : It does the job for a low cost.

Avantages :

This product allows me to organize my recipes and record necessary prep steps in an easy-to-read format. Scaling recipes is made easy with their format.

Inconvénients :

There are still a lot of limitations to how you add and convert ingredients. I don't find their conversion and yield modifiers intuitive and they lack the educational resources on their site to learn.

Commentaires : From the intro calls/demos to the current level of service in receiving, top notch!

Avantages :

The ease of creating recipes and using the Meez database and conversion tools. Additionally, the UI is clean and easy to navigate, not too busy.

Inconvénients :

I am hoping that the invoice scanning tool can be further enhanced, allowing me to drop XtraChef and use Meez exclusively.

Easy to use, Streamlines most of your needs in one place!

Avantages :

Building out recipes is so easy! Once your recipe is built, there is a function to make the recipe bigger or smaller as needed and it does all the work for you! Allows you to add slide shows, pictures, and videos to help break down your recipes and can be used as a training tool for all of your dishes and prep items.

Inconvénients :

Theres 3 things that stick out to me. The biggest is that they need to develop this as an app that can be downloaded to tablets! It's a pain to have to go on a web browser every time to use the product. Next would be under the ALL section when you first log in, would be amazing to reorganize the tabs in the order that the user wanted. For example, we never use the recipes tab. It contains every recipe ever made and we have everything broken down in sections so it just makes it more confusing fo the teams in the kitchens. Lastly, when you try to use this product on a tablet through the web browser in regards to reviewing your recipe, the ingredients tab and the prep method tab are separated and would much rather everything on one page. That would make it way more user friendly for the kitchen teams.

Commentaires : I love Meez. I had taken a small hiatus while I finished my culinary program, and when I've returned a year later it feels like all the issues I had in the past have been fixed or new opportunities were put in place. I like that this is a place that I can really put all my eggs in one basket.

Avantages :

I found Meez about a year ago as I am just starting my business and just getting booked for farmers markets, I find this platform has been fantastic at helping me do quick math for costing products, which makes me feel more confident in pricing my products and explaining to customers why it's priced that way.

Inconvénients :

The ingredient list for Meez is fairly centered around solely culinary ingredients and I find I need to add in quite a lot of very common baking ingredients. I wish there was a better product list in which I can include my supplier info and that the product list includes all the ingredients listed in all my recipes, not just the ones I've had to add into the system.

Avantages :

I like the cloud based aspect and ability to access recipes anywhere. I lie the simple template for recipes and straightforward design. The scaling feature is great.

Inconvénients :

In recipe ingredient list I wish you could add a percentage for a ingredient amount that is not changed when scaling a recipe. Oftentimes we will use a percentage as an amount and that should not change when scaling a recipe up or sown, a % stays the same. I would like to be able to digitally download all of my recipes.

A Game Changer for Training and Efficiency

Commentaires : We love meez. I love that our staff already can't seem to live without it. I am extremely grateful for how easy it is for them to use. It will also streamline training in a big way. We will eventually add photos and videos to recipes, making it easier for new staff to execute a new recipe with less supervision.

Avantages :

The most impactful feature of meez is the ability to quickly and accurately scale our recipes to any quantity needed. We make pies, cupcakes, and lots of recipes based on the number of servings. That we can easily change the recipe amounts to accommodate this makes us more efficient and saves us the headache of doing the math ourselves. Introducing this software to our staff was so easy. We purchased a few tablets for each staff member and everyone immediately goes to meez instead of our paper recipes. Recipes are accessible from literally anywhere rather than from a physical binder kept at one location.

Inconvénients :

We would love to see meez get turned into a more cohesive app for our tablets. Though the browser interface works well enough, it can be slow to respond or clunky when trying to make edits on a tablet.

Commentaires : Scaling, costing, and sharing recipes with team.

Avantages :

My favorite feature is that I can scale recipes up or down, depending on how much I need that week. I also really like the costing feature- the work in conversions that Meez does for you saves me a lot of time and means I'll actually use the tool.

Inconvénients :

It's constantly improving. Initially uploading recipes was a pain, but now that I can "copy-paste" and Meez largely figures it out, it saves me a lot of time. Not super helpful for my handwritten recipes, but very useful for digital ones. I wish the same feature existed for uploading prices.

I love this company!

Avantages :

For the money, meez is the best product out there. The shopping list and nutritional information has changed the game for me and has saved me so much time. I love the people and company as they are ALWAYS making improvements to their software and listen to their customers!

Inconvénients :

It is painfully slow downloading and uploading information and getting from screen to screen.

Commentaires : We love it. Probably the most effective tool we’ve used in our kitchen. We plan on franchising and Meez has been a huge part in developing our kitchen systems

I would love a check off option on recipes. It would be helpful for inexperienced employees who get easily distracted and lose their place when putting together recipes.

Commentaires : MEEZ has been worth every dollar. I highly recommend this software to any restaurant that needs to have insight into their food costs. Whenever I have a question, Customer Service is quick to respond and it's helpful that they have how-to videos.

Avantages :

Having software that can easily update our food cost is critical to running a successful kitchen.

Inconvénients :

We're a licensed/franchised restaurant. It's great that we can customize which recipes the licensee needs to have access to. It'd be helpful if they could also see what the food cost is and the margin. Added equipment to recipes is a new feature and would be great if we could run an equipment report to see which and how many recipes use each tool.

Commentaires : We are solving consistency issues and costing issues and justing having access to my invoices and being able to seacrh through them and filter by certain criteria really helps.

Avantages :

I liked being able to cost out recipes in a quick efficent way having access to my ingriendent database with real costs that are updated regularly.

Inconvénients :

Sometimes I find if on the software for a long period of time it can be a little glitchy and needs to be restarted.

uploading/creating recipes is very quick. Pre-existing data is extremely useful. Simplifies recipe writing and sharing.

Inconvénients :

The concept of "concepts" was confusing for hotel people. We want to have recipes for several outlets in 1 hotel/location. We also want to be able to build "menus" in the program. for example 1 outlet/restaurant in a hotel may have 4-5 different menus, ie. breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, brunch, etc. would be nice to build these menus using the recipes you've created. I suppose the same can be done with "recipe books". Also, it would be nice to have more viewers included in membership.

During this inflationary period it is critical to know exactly where you stand on core cost - Meez tracks invoices weekly allowing you to stay on top of menu pricing.

Inconvénients :

The only feature missing is the ability to track whole menu cost.

Avantages :

Easy to input & use the recipes. The word feature is awesome, and it has brought a fair deal of consistency in terms of the preparation to the kitchen team.

It would be great to have an app for this. A computer/laptop is required to access it.

Commentaires : I love meez I will be using this for the rest of my culinary career and certainly passing this information on to friends.

Avantages :

It’s intuitive. Rarely have I needed to seek support and when I do it’s very quick I get a response. It used to take me at least a week to cost a new menu and have training manuals recipe books allergen guides etc. now it’s all one step and I can do it in a day.

Inconvénients :

I have a few ideas on how to improve meez by adding on features but there is no clear con in my mind.

Integration was super simple and fast. The learning curve is very fast for navigating and creating recipes/folders.

A mobile app would be awesome to help lower paper usage as well as a voice for the cooks to leave notes/comments.

Does exactly what is says and then some....

Commentaires : I love to enter recipes, cost them and then scale them all the time! I can change one ingredient to what i have onhand and it will adjust the rest of the recipe to match....great time saver! I also can capture pages of my book so I can reference later on anything of note (I can also organize it digitally!)

Avantages :

this is a really easy software to use. You can be up and running as soon as you download. Go back later and finesse!

I have a link more than an app on my phone which was confusing at the beginning. Now I just click and it loads
